Gareth Bale

Last season was more of an injury-hit, inconsistent season for him - there were just a couple of incredible highs that got him all the attention. He looked better in the second half of 09/10 and the first half of this season, which is when he has looked a very good player well capable of playing at the top level.

His decision making and crossing has been much better this season.

Last season he got 1 assist in the league I think, which is frankly, ridicilously low for a player with that much hype about him, playing on the wings.

Stuck him in my fantasy team a few weeks ago, paid off.

Funny how he won PoTY last season for doing feck all, and now he's not even being considered so far. No Maicon to rape this time I guess.

Bale was absolutely outstanding in the second half of the 09/10 season, to the extent that many fans considered him player of the year, despite not playing a single game before 1/1.

He then had a great first half of the 10/11 season and his performances in the CL opened peoples' eyes to him. His destruction of Inter especially brought him fame and suddenly he was expected to perform like that every game. His inability to do so also lead to people who clearly don't watch a great deal of Spurs matches then proclaiming that he'd only had 2 good games in his career.

Second half of last season, he was poor but he was learning to deal with being double marked and trying to get over a back injury. Not to mention the team's form as a whole going downhill and having to aim his crosses at the heads of Defoe and Pav. Huddlestone and his ability to find him quickly was also important.

Started off this season average but has come on in a big way and our wing play has been a huge part of our recent run.

QPR: vdV, Balex2 (Lennon 2 assists)
Fulham: Bale, Lennon (Lennon 1 assist)(Bale 1 assist)
Villa: Adex2 (Bale 2 assists)
West Brom: AdeX2, Defoe (Lennon 1 assist)(Bale 1 assist)
Bolton: Bale, Lennon, Defoe (Bale 1 assist)

Let's hope he continues.

Very promising player.

Should (but probably won't) be a United player one day. Future City/Chelski signing I expect.
