Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

They say in some french sites that there is an agreement for 120 millions euros  but that the fee will be lower with some players from Madrid moving to Spurs. It seems crazy but believable at the same time

Even so, you need 570000 shirts to be sold to make the transfer fee. And this is assuming everyone buys the official shirt.

Simply not going to happen in 2 months.

Ah yeah it's completely ridiculous. I wonder do they factor in the increased exposure from buying the player/bump in shirt sales though? That's probably worth a good bit as well.

What is their source? "AS"? Because the same rumour is spreading in Germany right now.

What's that in English money then?

If it's 60m + Coentrao and Di Maria (for example), I wouldn't be surprised. A raw 120m Euro money bid I still don't quite believe.

Our interest in Fabregas is just a smokescreen people.

We're going to steal Bale at the last minute

I think we have more chance of signing Ronnie. The more I think about his issues with the RM hierarchy and the bringing in of Bale on a bigger price tag than his, which would dent his ego, the more I believe this could happen. I am not saying for one minute that this will happen, but I do believe that when Bale arrives, we may see Ronaldo movement. He could return to return to Old Trafford where he would be hero worshipped for returning or head to PSG for stupid money.

Bale to RM is a positive for us, whatever happens.

It's all a smokescreen. Except without the smoke. Or the screen either.

Sadly it seems like the Prem can't keep the best British players. Germany and Spain keep hold of theirs but we can't despite the amount of cash in our game. That doesn't sit well with me. Suppose City and Chelsea don't have the same pull...and the likes of United can't compete financially.

You mean Real, Barca and Bayern keep the local players. Look at Silva, Mata, Ozil, Khedira, De Gea, now Soldado, Michu, etc...

I wouldn't be too worried about that. At the moment the Premier League and Bundesliga are conducting a major talent drain from La Liga. They may have a thin crust of 'top players' at the top, but overall the quality of their league is deteriorating, and the financial indicators suggest it's only going to get worse.

Why, which top British players are currently playing abroad?

The Spanish game, bar Real Madrid and Barca, have been losing a lot of their top stars at an alarming rate.

I am not sure. If you take the England first team, they are all playing their football in the UK. Bale is more an exception. If he had joined us years ago instead of Spurs, I don't think he would be heading to RM.

I haven't given any real thought to how many Welsh players ply their trade abroad, but the best of British play within this fair isle.

RM are now offering 100 million Ronaldo shirts at factory price in exchange for Bale.

However, the main sticking point is that Levy wants each shirt to be individually signed.
Glaston, when is Bale going to sign this new contract at Spurs like you promised us, or are you going to keep dodging the issue?

Also I only just noticed that you said 'British' players. That's complete shite, given that British players almost never leave the Premier League. They leave their home country much less than either German or (especially) Spanish players.

Yes but perhaps the best British player? If Bayern wanted the best German player I'm sure they'd always be successful in their pursuit. Such is the pull of that club in Germany. If Real and Barca wanted the best Spanish talent they'd be off there in a shot. We lost Gascoigne to the SerieA but in those days we couldn't compete with their financial muscle and glamour... It's a shame we're losing Bale to La Liga.

I get what you are saying, but the best Dutch player, the supposed best English player, and the heaviest Brazilian player, plays for us. Not a bad show.

Part of the equation here, though, is that Real Madrid is willing to go to extremes no english club will in order to get their man. No one - an English club or Real - can get Bale on a normal deal, with a logical fee. But they will go the extre 80m step or whatever to do that.

As far as La Liga is concerned, I believe a new TV deal is due in 2014, and the Spanish sports minister is pushing for a radically different system of revenue distribution. So the two top clubs may suffer a large loss of earnings in the near future.

Yeah although to be fair, even if Chelsea and City matched Real, I suspect he'd still have told Levy of his dream to play for Real. And I'm not bitter but come on...where are they getting their cash from. Silly me...Er...shirt sales.

I think though thats partly due to the competition in our league, we've always had 3-4 clubs who can pay top wages for the best players and in general our clubs are in better financial positions such that they don't need to sell. If we had a spanish league set up we could probably have bought Wilshere by now. Bayern are the only real financial powerhouse in Germany right now.

As far as I'm aware Bale doesn't support any of the top 4 clubs so that pull of going to your boyhood club isn't there. Add to that no one is gonna match Reals offer, if they weren't bidding and we were willing to pay what Spurs demanded I'm sure he would be happy to come.

At 10.23am (GMT) precisely, August 8th, 2013. For 'tis then that the most propitious alignment of the stars and planets occurs ... according to the Club Astrologer.

And the ink used shall be no ordinary ink, but made instead from blood donated by every still-living player in the Spurs Hall of Fame. It must be noted, however, that Daniel has always had reservations about the colour of this ink, for obvious reasons, but has again nonetheless graciously acceded to age-old tradition.

I'm not sure boyhood clubs make a difference. It's all about wanting to play on the most glamorous stage whilst earning more than a few bob.

So... Never basically?

Are all these reports (from our rags this time, not marca) of Bale asking to leave all fabrication, since you in the know on these matters?

I think it might play a part but I agree its more about the biggest stage and cash, but as I said with English football in general I think its harder for one club to suck up all the homegrown talent between them because most the clubs in the league are healthy financially, they don't need to sell and so when they do its generally for high prices. Where as a lot of the spanish clubs need to sell to keep going and it's always preferable to stay in your country if you're already playing in a top league imo.

Never is a long time. 10.23am on August 8th is much sooner, infinitely sooner in fact ... assuming of course that "infinitely sooner" is actually a viable concept.

Infinitely sooner is now.

Ah, but I was talking about infinitely sooner than "never". In that context, isn't 100,000 years from now still infinitely sooner than never?

I don't know. I always get confused when there are too many zeros on the end of a number ... like with RM's media-reported bid for example.

The rumor has spread to Canada, with reports here saying a cash plus players deal equivalent to 120M Euros has been agreed to in principal by both clubs.

Wouldn't it be great if Bale insisted on wearing the Number 7, as it has always been his dream to do so.

Link to the article... showing just how obscene these figures are in terms of North American Sports
