Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

No it doesn't at all. He wants both in his team. It's typical Madrid for me.
Dunno mate, when you consider that we bought Isco, Illaramendi, Carvajal and Casemiro already, I'm starting to think something more is going on.
£85 million panic buy. The world of a Madrid supporter
Panic-buys are usually overpriced, not the cheap ones...
What are serious ITK Madrid fans saying on their gossip boards?
Dunno mate, this is the only football forum I post on. A few people on Marca seem to think he might be off aswell though.

No muddle: the future at least starts this coming season ... which is why it wouldn't make sense for us to sell Bale to you or any other top 4 Prem team from last season.

No club would bid that amount for Bale anyway... bar Madrid. That really is an exceptional offer and surely one you have to take?

I love the audacity of Real Madrid. Just love it. I think I'd love supporting them ( I don't).

I never thought the largesse of the first Galatico era would be surpassed. But then Mourinho turned up and hoovered up every single muppet buy in world football. And now he's gone and you think he cant be surpassed, so they start this Bale nonsense having already spent £65m this summer.

This approach to football is deeply hard wired into their DNA, they genuinely are the glamour team of world football bar none. That strategy may not translate into playing supremacy, but for the fans, it must be so much fun.

No, they bought Kaká, Ronaldo and Alonso before Mourinho's arrival, Pellegrini had a season trying to make them work.

If we take inflation rate since 2009 then we have

2009/10: 1.0%
2010/11: 2.1%
2011/12: 3.1%
2012/13: 2.6%

So comparable Bale fee to Ronaldo's is 85M£ / 101% / 102.1% / 103.1% / 102.6% ~= 78M£

so practically Ronaldo will still be the most expensive transfer ever

Not the ones before the final transfer window day. Do you think your club are run by complete idiots or something? To throw world record fees about due to panicking?

Vato's comments in this thread say otherwise.
Well, I don't know if I would be happier if the club hadn't signed anyone yet either, I just don't want to be the laughing stock of Europe having a flop of Torres/Carrol-esque proportions.

 Mockney

Point remains the same! Mourinho still hoovered up £££ worth of muppet talent in his time @ Madrid.

Well, SSN reporting a bid and an official bid actually arriving - along with proof of funds - are two very different things.

I have some doubts as to whether RM can actually get the cash to pay £85m for Bale (they still have to make further payments to us for Modric btw). And this may be why Marca have gone hysterical ... in the hope (forlorn in my view) that somehow they can browbeat Levy into selling for £50m or some such figure.

I don't understand where Madrid get the money from? We keep being told we're the richest club in the world, and the nouveau riche clubs are obviously all oil well deep in money, and yet no one else consistently makes insane bids like this! No one. 4 of the 6 biggest transfers are Madrid. Where is it coming from that isn't also coming in for United, Barca etc?

Sorry but that's scouse logic, that I am sure could be adapted for a lot of transfers. If Bale is sold for £85m, he is the most expensive transfer ever and it's as simple as that.

They make more money than both of them(United and Barca) and then throw that money on players like Ronaldo and Bale and then make even more money. Repeat and rinse.

I thought they were bankrolled by the government?

TV Rights.

With every club negotiating rights deals separately, the top two currently account for a 50 per cent share of the total amount broadcasters pay out to La Liga’s clubs each year. Currently Real and Barca take half of the £520.5million (€600m) annual pot for TV rights, leaving the other clubs to fight for the rest.

They don't though, I'm pretty sure United turn over more profit than Real Madrid.

At present, only Spanish and Portuguese clubs sell their rights on an individual basis, creating the disparity that last season made Real Madrid over €140m (£119m) from television income and Granada around €12m. In England, the champions Manchester City earned £60m through TV, while relegated Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers made £40m.

Their debts are guaranteed by the government, aren't they?

That's what I thought, but then Spain's government is sort of close to bankruptcy so I'm not really sure how they can afford to guarantee Real's debts.

I don't know but I seem to remember that we are third behind Barca and Madrid. I am sure someone can pull out some articles. We don't generate as much.

So TV rights account for everything? Barca earn the same from TV rights, yet only have 2 of the top 20 biggest transfers.

Well the argument to that would be that Barca have produced more marquee players so they haven't had to buy them.

But that doesn't really account for the late 90s to early 2000s when Barca weren't exactly a force in European football, when Madrid were still spending big money.

It can't count for everything, but it's a major reason why Madrid have all this money to spend now. Barcelona do too, I suppose they haven't needed to invest in transfers to the extent Madrid have given their success. Or perhaps their money is tied up in other stuff, who knows, but as you can see they have and continue to earn an incredible amount through TV Rights, that no other clubs in the world aside from Madrid comes close to.

Anyway, this puts to bed the hope of a good number of caftards here (who were convinced he is destined to be a united player or whatever... See the bale thread in the football forum) dreaming of signing him. Madrid have put him out of our price range.

Delighted.

Nothing I've seen from Forbes type lists or turnover releases have ever implied that Madrid are so far and away the biggest profit makers in football, let alone the single most able to spend insane amounts of money as consistently as they do.

No way Bale is worth that amount, but fair fecks to Levy man. He really does drive a hard bargain.

Madrid like buying and selling players more than actually watching the games, do they ever have a quiet summer? Seems like there are always 5 in, 5 out and a new manager every couple years.

:lol::lol::lol:

I would be in a meltdown if we spent half that on Bale (I don't particularly like his style. kick and run. shoot when the goal is in sight, get something on target every once in a while. a reason i don't rate the Ronaldo from the last season here)

I gotta disagree with you. The timing doesn't really matter. If you were going to sell Ronaldo, you would break the record prior to doing that. With all the players they have, why now? Granted, Barcelona have brought in good players but so did Madrid prior to going for Bale. Perhaps we're bidding low for Fabregas for a reason? He's quite clearly the player we want - but I don't think anyone was really convinced by the price we were offering. Why didn't we just offer 45 million to start with?

People might say we'd never do that, but that's exactly what you got to do or you wait patiently for their contract to run down. When it comes to Madrid, you're talking about a club with a big ego who views world record fees as great marketing...

For profit, we're currently second, behind Madrid but just ahead of Bayern and Barca.

In terms of overall value, we've slipped from top place to second behind Madrid. But really that's mostly because that evaluation came too soon to take into account the new PL TV deal or the upcoming Nike renegotiation which will surely give us a massive boost.

I don't think that puts Bale out of our price range. I'm sure if we wanted to match Madrid's offer, we have the ability to do it. It's not value for money though and it's most certainly not value for money for Real Madrid when you look at the squad they've already got.
