Gareth Bale | Signed new contract

Id love it if Barca signed Bale, just as I did when they signed Sanchez. The more of these hit and run merchants they sign the better. It'll just make them easier to defend against.

You mean like Dani Alves? He's pretty easy to defend against isn't he?

Barca's system has space for a direct player in the fullback roles. Bale with his style could play for them there.

But he won't be going there as I think Barca will get Jordi Alba from Valencia. Cheaper and probably better option.

Said it before and I'll say it again, the lad would be ridiculously good at Barca.

With the 3 CB formation they play, Alves and Bale as wingbacks to provide width meaning they don't need traditional wingers - which they don't use anyway, but rather Sanchez and Villa as wide forwards, flanking Messi as the withdrawn #9. It's a dream team more or less.

---------------------Valdes
------Puyol-------Piqué------(Silva?)
Alves------------------------------------Bale
--------------Xavi-------Iniesta
-------------------Messi
-----Sanchez---------------------Villa

That team looks nigh unbeatable. Only weakness is Mascherano at CB, if they got Thiago Silva or something similar, with Piqué able to bring the ball out of defence as needed, it would be complete.

So much potential, such a Fergie style player too.

I also agree he seems like exactly the kind of player we like to sign. British, direct, mentally tough etc. Does seem a very fergie style player as you said.

Can't see why we would get him now though unless we wanted to play him at LB, or if one of our established wingers was leaving, neither of which seem viable.

Ramos? Really? And most important player in 343 formation is Busquets, and you left him out.

not sure about that. i saw him once during a match getting tackled and the first thing he did was get slowly back up and made sure his hair (which had poncy hair clips in it) was sorted out before getting back into the action.

To be fair I've seen Ronaldo do that umpteen times. Being a preening fanny doesn't mean you can't be mentally fierce.

that's what everyone said last season.

Not me though. I can't see him kicking off this Summer. However if nothing has changed next Summer then he might.

What'l change next season? His evaluation isnt likely to go down too much. Had the price been reasonable, he'd have suitors right away i feel. 40mil and no one would pay that much for him, this season or the next. Unless ofcourse PSG or City suddenly decide they want him.

A lot changes when a player becomes unhappy and wants to leave.

Don't see this happening AT ALL!

We don't like dealing with Daniel Levy at the best of times. He wants to keep these players. But to say we're in for him and Modric is stretching the mark since another winger is not our priority right now (despite us being in for Hazard).

If we've identified 1 player we'd like it would be Modric. If Chelsea want him and Barca want him (if Barca get him then easy to persuade Alcantara that he's 6th in line for C Mid at Barca and come to us) if Modric wants Chelsea, then let them have him & pay for him.

However if Modric wants us then we can negotiate.

Otherwise the time for Bale to come to us (and he made a HUGE mistake going to Spurs in my opinion) was 3 years ago (or whenever he went to Spurs).

Out of itnerest how many years does he have on his contract?

We'll end up with Gareth Modric and Luka Bale.

Levy was Being slaughtered on talk sport today. Supposedly Bale has instructed his agent to find him a new club

Talksport are full of shit
Bale's agent can do whatever he wants. The player is contracted to Spurs and they make the final decision

Levy has recently lost £30-50m from CL money, had to pay out £3m to Harry and lost a potential £10m compensation package from the FA. He is absolutely fuming and will be out for blood in any deals involving his best players.

Imagine if we got both

But surely if we did get Bale then one of our wingers would need to be sold? Can't have Young/Valencia/Nani and Bale in the squad.

Would love to have Modric sitting beside Carrick and Kagawa infront.

You can definitely have Nani, Valencia,Young and Bale in one squad. You can even have all 4 on the pitch late in games.... (as in Valencia and Bale as fullbacks...)

I'm just sayin.....

Yeah but that would be insane mate. A complete waste of Valencia and Bales abilities who frankly aren't wonderful at defending.

--------Carrick---Modric--------
--Valencia----Kagawa----Nani--
-------Rooney--Welbeck-------

That however is a very, very strong and creative team.

Still maintain Bale will end up as a fullback. We'll never get both (would be surprised if we got one), but if we did.......

3 man defence, with no wing backs?

How about...

-----------------------DDG
-----------Smalling -Jones - Evans
Rafael-----------------------------------Bale
----------------Carrick - Modric
---------------------Kagawa
---------------Rooney --- Welbeck

Not that I think there is any remote chance of us getting both Modric and Bale, I would be happy with just one of them though.

I love the way people post these muppet formations and totally disregard some of our best players.

No Nani or Valencia? No thanks.

The only way I'd want Bale is to play left back in a back 4, something I'm not sure he'd be any better than Evra at, so for over £30million I can't see what the point would be.

It was between Valencia and Rafael for the right wingback role to be fair.

As for Nani, well, we wouldn't be playing that system all the time, can't please everyone.

Nothing wrong with suggesting some of the less conventional formations, that one I posted looks very strong, for me.

Not surprised at all, it was and always will be a matter of time for that type of player to want out of Spurs. Spurs are just a stepping stone to a big club for most players with potential. Do well there for 2 or 3 years and you get a move to one of the big boys. Thats the way it will always be with Spurs unless a sugar daddy comes in and buys them.

It's strong for a club who don't have arguably the two best wingers in the league on their books, but when you have arguably the two best wingers in the league on your books, you play them.
