Somehow his injuries have made him less of a player. He is elite level and a genuine match winner. If one can afford him, there really is very little to doubt.
Based on the Morata saga, what fee would Real want for Bale? And in the present climate? In excess of £100m, surely? Yet some people are so desperate for a big name - despite being burned by the likes of Di Maria and Falcao - that they would happily get on board with that. Madness. He's 28 and a sick note. Its not worth it

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/club...y-plagued-real-madrid-career-season-by-seasonWhere has this injury prone stuff come from? Hasn't he only been injured twice this season and that's only cause Zidane brought him back too early after the first injury?
Seems exaggerated from where I'm standing..

Who gives a shit about value. We aren't buying a second hand family worrying about depreciation. If hes available, then get him. We need a player like Bale or Sanchez to help us compete with City.
I totally agree he's injury prone, getting old, not the the player he once was.
But lads, it's Bale.
You think there's only one missing link?
Sanchez yes, Bale no
Do not want. Would be shattered by this signing. No value.

I thought Perisic was a smokescreen for Bale? It's a paradoxical smokescreen. This would be my dream signing but sadly this is obviously just a #smokescreen for closing the deal for Perisic

Whats up @Acquire Me, got any news as to whats up at OT transfer-wise?
Given the level of competition in the PL, overpaying for the elite players with no guarantee of success is arguably more likely to hit profit than increase it. For the Glazers profit is more important than success.I don't get it what Castles has been saying in these last few days. He even said this in the podcast about Neymar, that the Glazers have suddenly decided that the market is too expensive for them and they don't want to compete for top players because they are more interested in the dividends they get from the club. But surely if we buy top class players, we have a better chance of winning things and the club will continue to remain profitable hence benefitting the Glazers as well.
I can understand not wanting to get involved in the Neymar deal but Castles logic doesn't make sense where Bale and Sanchez are concerned. Moreover the prices aren't gonna get cheaper in the next few years. So what are we going to just sit and do what we did in the SAF era and not spend? Despite the fact that under him we nearly always had a great squad that was capable of winning the league but at this time we are far from that level.
Either Castles is talking bull or the Glazers' policy is getting weird.
I agree with the figures you present. But it's not only about the prize money. The value of any club is directly related to how successful they are over a period of time. Look at Liverpool. Why aren't they as valuable a commodity or why don't they make as much revenue as Utd?? Because they haven't been consistently successful for 30 years. Same applies to Arsenal to a lesser extent. If we stop being successful, eventually it'll reflect on our value and revenue. To continue raking in as much money as we do now, we need to maintain a level of success. And for that we need a high quality of players.Given the level of competition in the PL, overpaying for the elite players with no guarantee of success is arguably more likely to hit profit than increase it. Take Bale vs Perisic with some example figures. Bale (for example say £120m, £15m a year) vs Perisic (£50m, £5m a year). Little resale value for both at the end of a deal.
Over a 5 year deal amortisation + wages, Bale costs us £39m a year, Perisic £15m.
To the Glazers is Bale worth £24m more a year? Premier league prize money is only around £2m difference per position.
I'd take the risk on Bale over a mediocre player like Perisic, but I get why some are concerned given the fees that would likely be required. He'd be the only elite attacker we'd have though and we desperately need that.
Didn't you say similar about Pogba last summer?Does anyone actually believe Bale is going to join this Summer?
There is more chance of me winning the lottery without buying a ticket than there is of this guy joining us.
He has no interest in us and Madrid are not going to sell him for anything reasonable.
I was reading the Nainngolan thread last week and these fans totally convinced themselves that he was leaving Roma and that we were going to buy him.
And lets not forget Antoinne Griezmann who got a new bumper contract. Some fans believe that he will join us in January!!!
Why do MUFC fans do this to themselves?
Yes, the prize money is just one example. I'm sure the Glazers will take multiple factors into account but at these sort of figures you start to see why they might be unwilling to go ahead with such a deal.I agree with the figures you present.
