If we sign him next summer, it would be like returning to the 14/15 window "policy". Going after shiny, big name singings with little regard for their injury record or how they'll fit into the team.

Really hoping we stay away, but Woodward's like a magpie in regards to these kind of signings it seems.

Spurs fans wouldn't be happy at all but if Kane does make his mind up to go, then losing him to R.Madrid (instead of domestic rivals) and getting Bale + a lot of money is not the worst result in the world. Far from it.

There is absolutely no chance of Kane leaving this coming summer, whether in relation to a Bale deal or anything else.

We're soon to move into our new stadium and looking to sell naming rights and tie up other related sponsorship deals. Kane is iconic for Spurs when it comes such deals and he simply won't be sold.

Exactly!

this is another horrid big name signing waiting to happen.

With hopes of signing Griezmann fading fast, tbh I wouldn’t be too averse to us signing Bale, maybe even in Janaury.

WHEN he his fit he is an upgrade on anything we currently have in his position!!

The finances of the deal would basically need to be heavily pro-rata'd both by Real in terms of fee and Bale in terms of his wages. Missed nearly half their games last year and his muscular injuries (the sign of a true crock) only seem to be getting worse, he'll be 29 by the time the summer window comes around coming back to a more physically demanding league, it's hard to see him managing more than 15 PL games to be honest and he's surely only got 3-4 years tops left in him anyway.

It's a risk, everyone agrees on that. But it's not a horrendous signing, come on! I just don't think Real will be realistic (no pun intended) when it comes to price. They aren't when they want to buy our players, why would we assume they would be when selling theirs (Morate an example). For an unlikely 50m I think he's worth the gamble. Any deal would likely include a lower wage and appearance bonuses. From a marketing perspective, he'd be huge, which is also something the club focuses on.

Another option is Dybala, especially if AG goes to Barca.

I doubt if he has any fans outside Britain.. Especially after his decline at Real..

I would go by appearance wages, and not bonuses, given he is not able to keep himself fit in a less physical league

Edit: By the way, I think it would be a horrendous signing which will only inflate our hospital bills

Do we know for sure that Bale would agree to a move from Real Madrid regardless of the money?
Maybe he tells "I have a contract, I will stay to collect my paycheck and play 10-12 games a season", I'm good with that".

No. This is all speculation.

I don't mind shiny big name signings, but I don't feel like Bale even is one any more. He's a crock with zero buzz.

Cba with another position that can't be nailed down because the first choice keeps getting injured. Just doesn't help the team gel or move forward.

Tweet this thread to him and I’m sure he will never sign once he reads it.

Hala Madrid, Gareth.

Feck sake, who put the batteries back in Glaston?

Anyway I see no reason why Bale would give up £600k a week to move here in a worse climate for half that, and I really don't blame him, he'll be there until his last year of his contract.

I don't expect Kane to go this summer. Neither do I expect Bale to go actually. I don't know about "no chance", but it'd be really low whatever it is.

I really hope that will be the case.

He's a brilliant player and exactly what we need in terms of ability and poistion. He would transform us. However that is only the case if he is actually fit and given his fitness issues I would avoid him. Gelson Martins would be worth a punt

If they do go out and sign Hazard he will be gone, I very much doubt Bale would want to simply be a bench warmer or even worse completely cut out of the first team. When Madrid are done with you they are done with you, even if its on a loan deal.

There are rumors going around that we have a pre-agreement to sign Bale. Griezmann is off to Barca, which probably resulted in signing Bale instead.

IF he stays healthy, he would be a brilliant signing for us (especially if it's around 50m and not closer to triple digits). Obviously that's a massive "if," but he's absolutely world class when fit. He's shown this season in his limited appearances with Real that when he comes on, he's a difference maker. If we got a full season out of him on the right we'd be absolutely devastating with Martial - Lukaku - Bale and Rashford coming in for each of them across the front line. Get another CM in and we'd be ready for a realistic title charge next season.

I really hope we aren't stupid enough to buy this broken down crock, Real Madrid bumming us again.

Would be an awful signing. He's washed up now, but Woodward has had a hard-on for signing him for a while so I can see this happening. Would honestly prefer an average player like Perisic than this guy.

All going to depend on his price, wages wise there's not many clubs who are going to offer him what he wants and 4 of them in Bayern, Barca, City & PSG won't want him so he doesn't have a great deal of choice. He'd likely cost United somewhere between £65m-75m on a 4 year contract. if United could get him for under £50m then he's probably worth the gamble although given his age, injury problems and the size of his wage packet I'd be reluctant to go any higher.

I can see a big summer in the transfer market this summer for Real especially if PSG knock them out of the CL. They don't have the same resources we do and thats without mentioning City & PSG so if they want to bring in a couple of big names they'll look to get rid of one of the big earners and Ronaldo is going nowhere so won't be surprised if they want rid of him.
Let's just assume the financial stuff bothnevery parties can compromise, the problem ain't just the fitness, but mentality. Every here &I now Bale &a his agent come out saying Bale wants to stay at Real. Doesn't sound so motivated & promising that he would put in his best performance when he is not injuried putting it like that.

Whether the rumors are true or not, it seems obvious that there are only three teams capable/interested in signing Bale.
United, Chelsea and Tottenham. I include Tottenham more than anything for a sentimental issue since I can not imagine that they will pay 75-90 million €(in my opinion could be the price) nor his salary.
If Mourinho has said yes I imagine he considers that he can be decisive again, and that even playing 60% of the games could be a good investment, seeing the prices of other top players, who are not under 130 million euros.
However, there is the subject of the GK.
Courtois is very good and Kepa has a great future, but I don't feel totally comfortable with those options.
I appreciate Navas, but if they really want to invest in summer I would look for someone more exciting.
Courtois doesn't provoke me any emotion and Kepa will be in the national team, but in the bench.
The goalkeeper of National team should play in Madrid or at least they should try once again(using Bale)

I am against this transfer 100% primarily because Bale is way too injury prone. Take whatever the cost is and invest into building a world class midfield. Our midfield is our biggest problem. Minus Pogba, we have proven time and time again that we lack a world class midfield.

He'll most probably turn him into defensive right side player.

This would be a waste of another £100 Million or so. Is he even capable of playing a string of games without getting injured. He's been declining for the last few years and the rot has set in and he's not going to get any better. Madrid will laugh all the way to the bank.

I'd take him if the deal is heavily incentivised in our favour. He's paid £500k a week on a contract that takes him up to his 33rd birthday.
There is no chance that we are matching that, so it'll be up to Madrid to fund the difference or pay him off like we had to do with Rooney.
