Gareth Bale | Linked with United again

Hopefully with this Sanchez signing being imminent, we go nowhere near Bale again.

He's damaged goods.

IF we get Sanchez this one won't happen at all, in my opinion he's a better player than Sanchez but it's just his injury record.

Imo, he’s not a better player than Sanchez currently. Bale with pace is a top 5 player in the world, sure, but he’s lost the pace due to his injuries and while there’s still a very good player in there he’s just not the same. Last time he was amazing was 2 years ago.

Bale has scored 58 goals for Madrid. It's not to bad.

Gutted that he's injured so much. Really think he could have made that top '3' with Ronaldo and Messi.

Bale is a fantastic player but he’s way too injury prone. I personally thought Madrid should have signed Sanchez to replace him. Now United look odds on for Sanchez, then I don’t see you touching Bale.

He seems to be content sitting injured at Madrid enjoying the sunshine and picking up his enormous wage.

Good for him, and long may it continue. Hopefully with Sanchez's arrival, we can now steer well clear of that train. Let him be their problem.

Well, it's all opinion I suppose. But may I ask, why?

Because they are younger? have not been afflicted with injury?

Because Bale will be 29 in the summer, he is injury plagued and is very reliant on his pace.

What is wrong with being 29 in the summer? Are players no longer quick at 29?

Gareth Bale offers so, so, so, much more than just pace. The guy is an awesome player. Recent injuries have been unfortunate, but players can still deliver after bad injuries. As United fans we can testify to this.

Would love him at United. A top performing Bale for a few seasons sounds good to me. Look at the average dross we have, who flatter to deceive.

I've actually always been very much in favour of Bale coming to Utd but come on we just don't need this guy anymore. Now we have Sanchez I just don't see where we'd play him. We have a front three of Martial/Rashford----Lukaku----Sanchez. Where does Bale fit in? I guess you could play him behind Lukaku but he's not really a no.10 and he's certainly not the no.10 we'd need.

Don't get me wrong I think Bale is an outstanding footballer but I cannot see him playing for us.

This is not one bad injury - this is a multitude of ankle, calf, hamstring and hip problems, reoccurring in a continuous cycle that the player has proven unable to break.

In Bale's last two seasons he was unavailable through injury for 209 days (44 games missed). He's then missed a further 68 days (14 games) so far this season. He's a complete mess, soon to be 29, and would cost an exorbitant fee. It's not worth it.

Younger and can benefit more individually by getting more game time. Getting Bale would slow down their development and with wages and transfer fee involved just do t think it’s worth it for him. He would also be after one last big contract and we’ve already filled that quota up with Sanchez who I feel is miles better than Bale

He's on about £360k a week until 2022 so without a wage increase he'd earn £72m over a 4 year contract and I'd assume he'd want an increase to move. There's only 3 European Clubs who pay that sort of wages in United, City & PSG. City won't be after him and I can't see him interested in a move to PSG either so that leaves United. I just don't see United going in for him after buying Sanchez given their the same age but you'd never know. Real might take a really cheap fee to get rid of him off the wage bill.

They could have sold him and Ronaldo back to us for crazy money 1.5 years ago, maybe even last summer. Can't see any of them leaving for big money and keeping their wage.

When last did you see a top performing Bale?

We must not touch any of the BBC from Madrid. Modric/kovacic /kroos/isco will be great but ffs let us stay away from BBC.

So now that he's no longer wanted in Madrid he wants UTD move. Bugger of Bale you had your chances to join us and you didn't take them. You made your bed now you gotta sleep in it.

Petty but I just wouldn't want to give Real the money. It'd irk me more with Ronaldo. Just gives his best years there and we buy him back for a similar price we sold him. Absolutely disgusting.

I'd rather not buy any Real players and they don't buy ours. If they want DDG and he's insistent he wants them, which I'm not sure will be the case, then I want cold hard cash, north of £85m.

Pass.

It’s more than just time out with injuries, it’s fitful form with each comeback. We just wouldn’t get the player he was poised to become five years ago.

Good player, no doubting that, but he’s far from worth what he’d cost and the risk he’d come with. As for this club surely his ship has sailed.

Honestly, he’s not needed. With Sanchez onboard and Martial and Rashford growing, we could spend what he would cost on the right midfielder to push this team to the next level. We are missing someone, and that’s not Bale.

... I don't want to speculate on wages, fees, numbers etc as they are ridiculous and are beyond me. I think we may see them settle a little anyway, who knows.

Listen, someone mentioned you shouldn't buy Bale because it may stop the development of other players? No it will not, if those players are delivering. I don't want average / above average Martial in front of a fit Gareth Bale. Not a chance.

Nothing to do with Real etc. They are having a clear-out soon anyway. You want him to go to a rival? He'd be a super player. All is subject to medical assessments by the way, I'm sure that would play a huge factor in his contract.

He's a fab player. A leader. Match-winner. Experienced. We sign Ibra at 35, and we wouldn't take Bale? Do me a favour.

As someone pointed out to you earlier though, he has serious health issues which hasn't been able to shake. Everyone would love a fit and firing Bale, but he hasn't been that man for years.

Well sort that in the contract then. 'Your recent fitness is crap, you want to play here, we need to reflect that in any deal... sound ok with you Gareth??'

That's hardly unique. If he wants someone to take a punt on him, give him gazsquillions and risk paying someone to be on a treatment table, fine. But I would imagine that he would have to consider a degree of compromise to play for another big club. So let's look beyond that.

If he wanted to play for United, how can we say no? Because we have the 'emerging' Martial? He's getting some form back, but Martial is still v v v v much work in progress. (and please don't quote stats!!!)
