Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Kind of. Kind of not. As my post said.

Btw that Inbetweeners thing was really bad though. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about it, and on of those 4 that seems in any way sensible and with a smidgen of charisma is, kronically, the one who plays Neil.

Joe Thomas is very enjoyable on the latest series of Taskmaster. Definitely worth watching.

I think the Star Wars Prequels (which were largely rubbish) changed the way people react to disappointed in entertainment. That and the internet, of course.
As a child I remember the serious disappointment of the second Neverending Story and Highlander but there was nothing like the anger we have now just as a matter of course.

Even the Seinfeld finale (which was actually a decent, if downbeat, ending. Good shows for the middle of a season) elicited more of a feeling of ‘well, that wasn’t as good as we’d hoped’ than the anger it probably would have today.

Bringing a guitar to the party. Euron is just as bad in real life.

Jorah still loyal to his queen.

Jon a miserable twat as always.
Sophie Turner is fecking

If season 8 is good for nothing else, its good for the memes.

The fact that Drogon came flying in during the ampitheatre scene in Mereen and again after Daenerys' death suggests that there's some kind of psychic link or something. It's not like she was saying 'dracarys' every time he fireballed.

He probably knew about the significance of the throne and burned it in grief for his mother's obsession.

I was someone who kept defending the show this season figuring that some of the outlandish decisions would have a purpose..like the NK dieing so easily etc. I figured they would explain some things in the past episode.. Tie up some loose ends.. Add one final major twist.. But nope. So many things to rant and rave about but what's the point as Tyrion likes to say.

Im officially on the pissed beyond belief train. But hey..at least Jonny boy got to hug his doggie.

The cinematography was awesome this season though.. With the pinnacle Drogon s wings rising behind Dany.

Now I realize how lucky we were with the LOTR movies and how rather silly the complaints about those were.

Wut? He has no charisma, no imagination and just sits there mostly looking lost. He's terrible!

But that's what makes this stuff fun and interesting to debate, sometimes anyway, that we have the exact opposite viewpoint of the same thing. That's a cool thing that we can discuss them in a friendly way ;)

And the internet changed the way we look at things, not a specific film. It's all about likes and all that shit, and the way to get those is follow the crowd. But that doesn't mean there are any less reasoned voices out there, on both sides of debates, just they are drowned out by the more extreme views and arguments.

I am sorry that nothing more was said of the Children of the Forest/White Walkers, though. Although I suppose Jon’s ending hinted at something of that.

I only started watching it about 6 weeks ago so just binge watched it. Really enjoyed it to be honest but the last few episodes felt like they’ve just rushed it over the line. There was surely more scope with the story lines. I wonder if there’ll be any spin off series.

Oh yeah, I did. I already said in one of my earlier posts that I was actually really happy for the first 30 minutes or so.

That opening scene was brilliant, really well shot. Tyrion was also fantastic and back to his best, the writers decided to restore his character for the finale after choosing to make him be a tit for the entire last 2 seasons.

The first 30 was 9/10, and then the final 30 was 2/10 and they basically undid all the good work they'd done. Like I said in a previous post, it's like it became a completely different television show and they really had no idea whatsoever how to close it out post Daenerys death.

Thats fair, and I misread your post. I misread where you said it had excellent scenes as 'it didn't'

I don't know but the scene looked very suspect when I initially saw it. I thought it looked like a real rush job, edited badly and the animation was very off. I just assumed they had cobbled it together in the last few days to shove in at the end, but if it's an old model animation then that would also make sense.
You see what you want to see. Have you changed your opinion now that your bias has been shown for what it is?

3 are in the making.. At least for pilots. One pre quel supposedly already set to go mostly. Naomi Watts was cast for one of the roles in it, so there is money.

3-5 spin offs in the works according to GRRM

In a show with warging and Dragons who can sense bloodlines, it's not a stretch to infer some kind of psychic bond. It's probably the least magical bit of magic in the show.

Yeah ...... this needed a couple of more seasons. The rushed and contrived writing to get where the showrunners wanted in an unrealistic time span ruined what could have been the greatest TV show of all time.

He came to watch them get it on again.

He's a pervy dragon.
He screeched ages before he saw Dany had been stabbed. He could non-visually sense her death.

For a fan of logic, how else would Drogon have been able to do that? Tell me in a non-WUMmy way.

I agree :nervous:

Three big bads, Night King, Cersei and Dany, were dealt with in four episodes.

Night King should've been the entire season 8 storyline and then Dany vs Cersei for most of season 9 and then resolve the Dany stuff with two or three episodes.

Four, not three.
You forgot Euron

Now that it's over, here are my long awaited and incredibly important final ratings:
S1 8/10
S2 8/10
S3 9/10
S4 9/10
S5 7/10
S6 6/10
S7 6/10
S8 4/10

You're welcome.

He screeched because he could smell them two together again. He liked what he saw before.
You claim to be logical and critcise the show for not being so.

In a non-WUMmy way, can you explain why Drogon screeched the moment Dany died, despite not being able to see it?

Non-wummy way indeed

Nah, he obviously knew something was up and it looked like he knew to burn the throne. The psychic dragon bit just tickled me

I think s8 was weakest too but give it a 6 :nervous:

If memory serves me right it was slightly better. To me it felt like a slight but steady decline ever since season 5.

Drogon obviously had some psychic connection to Daenerys, he's a magical dragon. There's no issue with that whatsoever.

I agree the fact they were all asked for approval makes little sense, even Davos points it out. But there was some logic to why they were there. Technically Jon was the Lord of the North anyway so makes sense his family would come down to support.

That would explain their presence in the City (though I guess they kind of forgot about the good old "there must always be a Stark in Winterfell" mantra), it doesn't explain why they all get to sit on the council. When for example the notoriously rebellious Dorne accepts to be reduced to one seat, accepts the North's independence, without demanding anything for themselves and accepts a crippled Stark boy with the personality of a slice of Toast as their ruler.

A truly atrocious season of television but the last 3 seasons were just as bad. People have living in denial for so long.
Wouldn't say that. It was getting worse, but it wasn't that bad, yet. Just a steady decline for me.

They do not give a feck about Dorne. A few faces around there were random actors they had to appoint because of so many storylines they had to abandon.

The Greyjoys as well - didn't Yara quite clearly ask Daenerys for independence and they agreed upon it? Why is she now happy to bow to Bran?
