Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

They do not give a feck about Dorne. A few faces around there were random actors they had to appoint because of so many storylines they had to abandon.

The Greyjoys as well - didn't Yara quite clearly ask Daenerys for independence and they agreed upon it? Why is she now happy to bow to Bran?

Bringing a guitar to the party. Euron is just as bad in real life.

Jorah still loyal to his queen.

Jon a miserable twat as always.
Is it my eyes or does every single one of them look photoshopped in? Dinklage especially. He looks like a Guess Who character card that's just been stuck in there.

Jorah was in Belfast the other day, my mate has a picture meeting him at the gym. He didn't look photoshopped in that.

So there’s the most beautiful woman in the world, wet and willing for him, and there’s nothing preventing him from banging her and be King, and everything else at stake, yet somehow he chose the worst option possible?
I don't think that Dany would've liked him banging Missandei!

The last episode of the last series was the best episode on that series. It was also disappointing though.

Re the dragon, it showed up out of nowhere to save her from the sons of the serpent or whoever they were. I had always assumed they were connected somehow.

People keep talking about the respawning Unsullied but how about 'dem respawning Northern troops.

They called all their banners during the War of the Five Kings and lost everyone at the Red Wedding. They then later got slaughtered at the Battle of the Bastards (down to nearly the last man) and then slaughtered some more in the war against the Night King. An entire house was lost completely when the Last Hearth was taken.

Yet there's thousands of Northern troops outside the city. This is the same North which has a very small, spread out population (Jon says Kings Landing holds more people than the entirety of the North) and we know one of their major houses straight up refused to march with Jon and one of the other major houses (Boltons) were also wiped out.

Also, what's stopping Jon from going back to Winterfell? Before he retook his vows for a now meaningless order. I mean he was banned by Brann but the North is independent now and I'm pretty sure that Sansa will pardon him.

Although he seemed to like the idea of being the King beyond the Wall (how are they're going to deal with the huge hole blown in it by the undead dragon by the way?).

Apparently HBO wanted 20 episodes to wrap the show up but D&D said no and settled on 6 longer ones because they wanted to work for Disney on Star Wars and Trek.

Is this true?

Hey dothraki! 5 minutes ago you were cutting down women & children in our streets and cheering while you did it (probably throw in some rape and plunder as well) but here, let's cut to some shots of you merrily walking down the streets of Kings Landing 5 minutes after your Khaleesi was murdered. You've totally been established as reasonable, civilised characters who will definitely accept this turn of events.

"Honour."

That didn't stop him murdering his aunt and Queen and the kindest ruler Westeros would've ever known though. Bastard.

I think the final scene, with him walking north with the wildlings, was to signify he was going to become the next Mancy Rayder - which I actually thought was a pretty cool ending for him.

Jesus Christ, just finished watching it and all the while I was hoping if HBO pulled a parody on everyone and they'll release the original version later. That was horrible.

Game of thrones is literally garbage to me now

I have my problems with this series, but there is nothing inconsistent with Bran's statement about wanting nothing anymore and becoming King. The point is that he knew what would and had happened and therefore what was to be was to be. Therefore, desire is meaningless.

I’m not even that bothered with how it ended, it just felt like they drew up their storyboards and didn’t bother to fill in any of the gaps.

We still only have Brans say on what his powers and motivations though. For all we know he's lied and has a Dr Strange type power where he can foresee different outcomes and has always chosen the outcome that ends with him being the King. This is how I'll interpret GoT ending anyway, him being a Littlefinger type character outplaying everyone in the show would be a fantastic finish. If you challenge this theory i'll eat your soul as it's the only way i'm able to enjoy this finale.

r/freefolk is fun now I can look at all the memes and the Bobby B bot is brilliant.

"Bobby B, what did you think of Dany's death?"

"SHE SHOULD BE ON A HILL SOMEWHERE WITH THE SUN AND THE CLOUDS ABOVE HER!"

Drogon obviously had some psychic connection to Daenerys, he's a magical dragon. There's no issue with that whatsoever.

It would've been cool if in a post-credits sequence it showed Drogon landing somewhere far away with Dany, and laying her down next to some Children of The Forest, who had been tracking this from afar. Dany opens her eyes and her pupils are blue - she's the new Night Queen. Wasn't the Night King made in the same way by a dagger through the heart? Showing that not much has changed in reality.

Well, the original Night King host was alive. Daenerys was dead. Not sure if sticking a dagger would have worked. *shrugs*

The following comment on reddit made me laugh. . .

to be 100% honest... this felt like an 8 year long bj but instead of an earth shattering orgasm at the end they just started biting down full teeth.

This season was perfect for GRRM btw.

Now everyone will buy his books, because they hope for a better ending.

Tyrion tells Jon he has to do what's right and kill Dany. Then later when Jon asks him if he did the right thing he replied I don't know ask me again in ten years .

Not sure I understand the vote either was it supposed to be unanimous or majority as they had three members of the same house with one vote each plus their Uncle and cousin .

Compare the courtroom intrigue of Tyrion's sentencing the first time around to this episode and it would make you weep.

That episode delivered one of the greatest monologues in TV history and in this one, he walks out, sets his own agenda, choose his own king, gets pardoned by said king and also gets elected the hand of the king.

Jesus wept.

Then tells Jon "sorry dude but you're on your own, enjoy life at the wall!". What a dickhead.

Considering the insanely shite level of season 8, it's hardly a surprise that the finale is equally bad.

Shame.

It would've been a great twist if he actually didn't have any psychic powers at all and used a Varys-like web of spies and incredible sense of deduction to manipulate events around him. And Night King was perhaps in on that, only to be stabbed in the back by the dagger that Bran gave to Arya.

That was pretty disappointing, probably the worst GOT episode. I quite liked the start, Tyrion turning on Dany, and Dany's demise at Jon's hand (though I wish she had more in this episode), but the dragon pit scene was a bit cringe and how they handled the whole frame was facepalm worthy, Jon's ending was quite fitting however.

Never had a problem with the story or the choices they made for characters or their deaths, in fact I thought the ideas were really good. It's just that the story told in season 8 would have been better told across 15 - 20 episodes as opposed to 6. The end product felt rushed which killed the quality. Though overall I was still very much entertained and some of the episodes this season were still good, just could have been so much better.

Interview with Emilia Clarke and others about the finale. It's pretty good...

https://ew.com/tv/2019/05/19/game-thrones-finale-interview-emilia-clarke/

One line stands out though...

The showrunners are not giving interviews about episode 6 (and told EW they plan to spend the finale offline — “drunk and far away from the Internet” as Benioff put it).
Why am I not surprised?

He said the ending is more or less the same. I've read the books and that ending has dampened my enthusiasm for them.

Can we talk about the books in here now?

Also, can someone explain why Jon's heritage never came up this episode? Surely him being the rightful heir should have been discussed at that meeting they all had. At the end, it never really mattered that he was a Targaryen.
