Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I never really understand people who post "Never watched an episode or I dont get the hype". No offense, but what the F are you doing in this thread? If you dont watch it, then you can ask how is it and if its worth watching and we can give you our own opinion. But what exactly do you accomplish by saying "Never watched an episode"?

Honestly, I haven't seen it. I have the first two seasons, but like I said, I couldn't get myself to watch it for some reason.

But from whatever I read on the Interwebz about it, I just think the series is just an excuse for watching ancient people having sex in ridiculous outfits. And with a story intertwined, people can also differentiate it from porn.

So you don't get the hype, yet you've never actually watched it before? fecking hell, some people on these forums

Can someone tell me why is this show so highly rated? I mean, I have never gotten around the hype of it.

Cue: There are certain wankers on Facebook harping about it. Irritating.

You will get the hype after watching a few episodes, trust me you really will ;)

Thats kinda not entirely true. They are naked when they have sex.

So one but i didn't get about the very end of the episode, when the farmer recognised Jamie on the bridge, who were the banner-men that captured him? Are they northerners going to take them back to Robb?

Bolton is the bald guy who keeps delivering messages to Robb, and told him he'd send his bastard to reclaim Winterfell, by the way.

I have watched the initial episodes of the first season. Probably 2-3 of them. Yet, I couldn't catch the hype it has been generating all this time.

You don't have to like it, it's just that saying something is overhyped/overrated when you've only watched a couple of episodes is a bit daft.

Loved the part where Jaime is about to get caught, and just looks at the woman with a  expression, as he told her the farmer would run off and tell somebody he saw them.

Just shows that sometimes being kind gets in the way.

Maybe it's just not your thing. Some people might not like Breaking Bad or even The Sopranos but they are still amazing shows in their own right. Game of thrones is bloody good TV, some of the acting and the writing in it is brilliant.

Disappointed with the total lack of Danny and with only a few uninteresting scenes with Tyrion, but the good part is that Jaime had a big role. Probably the biggest badass in the show and a great character.

Theon suffering, I have mixed feelings about him. Hated for what he did, but still he was more a victim than anything else.

And finally, Margary is beautiful and looks smart, she is playing the psycho king.

It's not the first time as well.

Eddard gave the Cersei a chance to leave the city and in the end it cost him his head.

Noble behavior gets seldom rewarded it seems.

Biggest problem for this show is that there are too many main characters, too many different stories to follow and without watching the season 2 recap I would have been truly lost at the start of this one.

I've given up on this show.

Watched seasons one and two and last week's episode.

There's just too much going on and its a bugger to follow.

With this many characters you don't get a huge amount of character development.

Then again, I've just watch all of Breaking Bad and am re-watching The Wire.

They kind of ruin other TV.

Not convinced.

To get into a series, I need to invest in the characters a bit.

The only one in GoT I remotely like is Tyrion. The rest are boring and don't inspire me to keep watching at all.

Have you not seen blonde women's boobs?

And the king of the north's woman's bum?

What more could you want?

This is a joke about personality that my girlfriends is reaaaaaaly not getting

PM me if you would like to know potential character nakedness this season, as I have read the books and thus am superior to you all.

You ruined my experience Sol with the massive spoilers you gave us. Isn't the title clear that you don't have to mention them?

I think with Game of Thrones it is better to invest in the world and it's events, then look at the way that characters form within the context of the world.

Like you could say 'Ned Stark was a boring character, all he knew was duty and honour', but when you put him in context, he was brought up to follow since he was the younger brother- his more senior family were killed in the war that brought the Baratheons to the throne and after witnessing the slaughter of the Targaryen children he was so affected by it that he never wanted to see it happen again if it could be avoided. Hence why he made the 'glaring error' of giving Cersei the chance to escape to exile.

I think Tyrion is loved because he has a clever sense of humour and is a likeable character, as well as an underdog. Without any investment in the world anyone can clearly see his troubled context, at least superficially.

Yeah you're not the first person to raise that point and it is a valid one, but there's still too much going on to really draw me in.

Season 3 is suffering from a similar problem to season 2. With so many characters to keep track of, each can be afforded two to three scenes an episode (that's if they even feature), therein slowing character and story development to a crawl. Several characters have barely seen a change in their circumstances since the end of season 1.

This actually smacks of flawed screenwriting. While acolytes of such literature tend to cry foul at source material being tampered with, there's a reason it happens, as TV/movies invariably don't benefit from direct translation to the screen; it's a different medium. And while I've not read the books and so cannot say if the TV show is already abridged in its content thus far, it seems clear that the show is overstuffed.

Its only episode 2.. If they keep going with no character development thats open for criticism but as it is its hard for someone who followed season 2 to understand whats going on (at least for me it is). They need some time to set the individual story lines.

And.. is it really true we wont see more of Daenerys' tits? :( that was the best part of her story line. She is one of the more one-dimensional characters.

Not saying that Danny's tits are not good, but I like her as a character too. Also, I don't really agree that she is one-dimensional. In the beginning she was just a young scary naive girl, and now you can see how much she progressed.

Yeah didnt she sign a "no more nude scenes" clause after season 1?

You are right. Most of Dany's character development happened in the first season, the last one just calcified her progress towards being a ruthless leader. At least in S3:01 we saw her wrestle with the idea of the slave army, and the fact they killed 8000 babies as part of the training, just to show she isn't a completely evil person.

One of my favourite things about this season so far is watching Cersei try to control Joffrey. It's hilarious.

The only tricks she's got up her sleeve are using sex or Daddy's power/money.

Joffrey obviously, isn't interested in her sexually (although, who the feck knows about Cersei's thoughts on it) and he's more powerful and wealthy than her so she can't intimidate him. Now she's floundering trying to turn him against Margaery using her 'interpersonal skills' with no leverage and is failing desperately.

I disagree that there's too much going on to follow, personally. And I find the characters and amount of them interesting (now I've got past the stage where they all look the same). Like I said before there isn't one story I don't enjoy.

As for tits, didn't the one who plays Danny sign a new contract saying she won't get them out any more? Sure I read that on here.

The biggest question here is, when was Danny evil on the first place? She cared about her people, in fact she cared even about people becoming slaves before, after a battle against Drogo's tribe (and saving Mirri Maz Duur, another example of if you do something good/kind, you will get bad/evil from it). She wants to became a queen of a place which by the line of blood is hers.

Really, can't remember Danny becoming anything evil in those first two seasons, and in fact she is one of the most kindest characters.
