Got to the finale of season 3 now, I forgot how funny it was when Joffrey tried to talkback to tywin, and then the rest of the small council just looked at him thinking "What an idiot", and then tywin sends him to bed

Anyway, the books are going to take forever to finish at this stage, I'm not even sure if the fat old fecker will before he pops it. The TV series is probably going to surpass the books at the end of season six and do its own thing then.
Basically, if you're loving the TV series, there's no real rush to read the books yet, at least, otherwise you'll just end up like Revan and piss everyone off in here

To be fair, I've read the books and even I thought that non-book readers would be hopelessly confused by character names and who they are. There's just so many. I know people who think Daenerys' name is Khaleesi, and who only know characters by their appearance and not their actual names e.g. Jaime Lannister = blonde guy, Tyrion = dwarf.

Yeah but you've mentioned the name of a character you couldn't have known unless you read the books. This is exactly the kind of thing they don't like.

Understandably. We now know from the first time we see him that's he's a character with a reasonable sized role.
