Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

TBH, I did watch the penultimate as a leak but still watched the live version on Sky Atlantic here.
Up until now, Wire has always been my fav show, but even then, nothing has made me discuss the show as much as this has. Even Lost which was all built on mystery and such.

Assuming s8 script hasnt leaked (it hasnt, right?), what are the main guesses people have for how the show will finish and what will happen to the main characters (eg who dies and survives, and how)?

(No guessing of timelines plz :) )

Also will we ever get the answer to what Pod did to those women? :p

Tyrion will kill Cersei, Jaime will die saving Brann, Drogon and Rhaegal will get smashed by Viserion, Arya will be killed protecting Sansa, Jon will sacrifice himself and they'll play it like he's willing to constantly put himself in danger because he doesn't feel entirely whole after his betrayal by his Night's Watch brothers, Dany will die during childbirth.

Bronn will die, Melisandre will die, Grey Worm and Fit Lassie will die, and Varys will take the lead role in a council of elders who hold regency until Dany and Jon's child comes of age and acts as a figurehead in the same manner that Queen Elizabeth II does. Then he'll die.

The Night King will demand that the remaining Children of the Forest are brought to him (I base that one on a theory I saw about an island near Harrenhal) and after getting his vengeance he'll die. And Viserion will have enough of his mind left to remember Dany and turn on the Wights.....and then die.

Die die die die die

Except Brienne, Ser Jorah and his new friend Ghost. Because they're awesome.

Danerys will have to kill Viserion in close up combat using a dragon glass tipped arrow or spear. It'll be the most heartbreaking scene of the series.

In unsurprising news they have announced that there will be multiple endings shot for the series in an attempt to keep leaks to a minimum. Now whether this means just the last scene or multiple scenes that lead up to the ending so that it further dilutes the potential for spoiling leaks not sure.

Thoughts not so much on a specific ending but an over general feel to the ending.

Still thinking there is also a possibility that the ending will be one of total devestation for Westeros and possibly the world, with no real 'winner" or at least a situation with whoever is left to rule will be faced with such large scale death and destruction that the Kingdom has to recover from that it will hardly feel like a win. Probably the easiest prediction to make given the over all the series has never really let anyone be happy for very long.

Come on, are you not going to guess at a time line?

They should end GoT by:

having Bran wake up from a Coma, it was all his dream and he remembers Jamie tried to kill him...

If they introduce a plot device in Season 8 that Jon uses to kill the Night King in a final epic battle I'll be royally pissed

If I was him I'd be far too busy slinging one up Dany to fight any battles.

I think you need to prepare yourself to be royally pissed. There really isn't any current way out, they will introduce something next season to give Jon the upper hand.

I'll say the same thing that I just said to Billy in a PM.

Maybe, I suppose that wouldn't be too bad. But if they do it with the classic "strike the enemy with it during the final fight whilst everyone around them is slowly dying" then I'll be annoyed because that would make it the same as any fantasy movie ever made in the history of ever. Especially if such final fight is just him and the Night King smacking the crap out of one another in the centre of the surrounding carnage. Maybe CleganeBowl will also happen in a similar way moments earlier.

In other words, if they do this;

then I won't be a happy chap.

Fantastic drawing. Did you do it yourself?

Not sure.. it's a pretty out there theory which I find ridiculous but thought I'd share. PM instead?

You could take it to one of the other two () threads?

I thought so. No way something someone just drew by himself looks so professionell.
 It's the reason why Season 7 was so short - it must cost a lot of money making such detailed story boards every year.

So me and the missus have decided it's time to re-watch the entire show, and feck me the acting in Season 1 is brilliant. It's on a completely different level to what we get now.

Yup massive difference in quality. TBH seasons 2-4 are still top tier but one has a gravitas which is unmatchable.

Yeah, but then again (on top off all the script and book material the show could follow) there was also a much more experienced cast, getting a lot of screentime.

Now a lot of screentime to carry the show to its conclusion has gone to younger cast members, who sort of needed to grow and develop with the show - and maybe some haven't quite lived up to the expectation. Maybe that's another reason for the drop in quality.

Martin is a dick for killing off Ned. Sean Bean was so good in the role. The show definitely suffered without him.

I was actually thinking... I know GoT isn't a show about "heroes" and will kill off people and supposedly doesn't follow conventional narratives etc. etc... but feck, I'd have loved it if the show was just about Sean Bean being a proper good bloke surrounded by shitbags.

Ned dying is still one of the biggest shocks. Hadnt read the books so was not expecting it esp as he was front and centre of the show in terms of screentime and of course being head of the Starks.
