Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Why is Bran going North? Is there some special power there for his new wizard skills?

Can't wait to see what happens in the future between Joffrey & Tywin. I bet that little cnut tries to go up against Tywin. The scene between Tyrion & Cersei was really good.

Liked the scenes between Davos and Stannis. I wonder if Stannis will now focus on the North instead of Kings Landing, since that's the real war according to the Red Woman. Hopefully we see a lot more of the White Walkers next year.

The Bastard is one sick fecker. I'm not that interested at the moment in seeing Yara going to war with Bolton & his bastard, up until now she didn't seem too concerned where Theon was.

Arya is fecking awesome. I want her to become an assassin and kill everyone.

I'm chuffed I called Sam and Bran meeting up. Didn't think that Sam would give over all of those weapons (I think they called it dragon metal?). Either way, now they have weapons to fight them although they're hardly warriors! Surely there must be some importance to the crows/ravens that were flying about next to Sam a few episodes back when he killed the White Walker. But what the Raven means exactly, feck knows. I was wondering if it was a metaphor for Brans actual powers. To find the 3 Eyed Raven may simply mean "to find the powers within you". Who the feck knows.

I'm also wondering if Sams speech about "protecting everyone in all realms". Means that the Wildlings and the Nights Watch will put aside their differences and fight together. Surely they must understand that to survive they have to work together. Whether they can put aside their differences and do that who knows.

Dunno how people complained about this episode. It continued the story of every one character here, it had great dialogues (Tyrion with Cersei, Joffrey with Tywin), had Arya's moment and I liked the ending too. Loved it

This is a great resource for understanding the show better. You can find everything there. All the places, characters, houses etc on the show and I haven't seen a b**k spoiler so far. Sometimes there's a section for what is written for the subject in the b**ks, which I tend to avoid just since the b**ks should all be burned to ashes anyways, but even there I haven't seen any spoilers really.

Daenerys is getting boring, she better take off for Westeros soon. We've only gone through 3 seasons to gear up for this event. On the other hand I kind of root for her since the whole Targaryen underdog heir returning to the throne-bit is a pretty cool storyline. But enough with the fecking feelgood speeches pls. Also someone please kill the porno actor who is just too cliché.

Before the last episode she had an army of 10,000 soldiers. Think the other armies are like 30,000 each and more from what I've heard on the show. Those people feeling Dany up at the end there better know how to use a sword.

She still has her dragons. Did you not hear what Stanis was telling his former commander in chief? That the Taergaryn army was a little smaller than the ones they were fighting but its with three dragons that he won the battle. I have a feeling there isnt going to be a big battle. They might all have to end up coming together to fight the whitewalkers first.

I am not sure but I think that in first season Robb had either 18000 or 20000 people, while Lannisters had the double of that. Renly which had a coalition of Baratheon and Tyrells forces had 80000 soldiers. Tyrells have an even larger army than Lannisters, so a coalition of Lannisters with Tyrells that is on the show have around 100000 soldiers, if not more.

Anyone else disappointed with finale? In fact I'm not sure whether I can bothered to watch the next series.

It's not the whole continent though. It's just another city in the continent. Robb's wife is from Valantis and Dorne is mentioned as well. It doesn't really advance her character, it advances how she is seen in the world. I still maintain she is one of the worst characters on the show, and yet she gets top billing and all the promos. Baffling really.
Dorne is in Westeros.

Dragonglass (obsidian).

The X shaped thing Theon was on was also very similar to the X shaped symbol on Bolton's flag, some of the TV critics were pointing that out about four or five episodes in.

Saw this episode earlier, pretty good I thought. The final episodes of the season is never quite as good as the one before. The final scene was a bit weak compared to the final scenes of the last two seasons but maybe they wanted to end on a sort of happy note? We don't see a lot of happy times on this show so it was kind of a nice change, I thought.

Also, Davos is a bro. One of my favourite characters on the show atm.

Yeah, and the most obvious one that I can't believe I missed out in that reply.

Theon says something like 'I'll reward anyone that kills that bastard with a horn' when he's giving his motivational speech to his soldiers at Winterfell. Well we knew that the guy with a horn was Bolton's bastard and we know that the guy torturing him has a horn.

Why did they just cram in as much as possible into the finale? There's been plenty of times during the season when things have moved very slowly and then all of a sudden they rush in a load of stories for the season finale. Bit annoying.

I think that was necessary since its the last episode and they want to refresh everyone's memory from the start of the season and also want to leave them with the memory of every storyline that is happening.

Yeah, I hated that and Arya saw it too. So she's seen her Dad beheaded (well, she looked away) and saw a wolfs head attached to her decapitated brother's body and she's around 10 or 11.

That's gonna leave some lasting mental damage.

When were they parading his headless body with the dire wolf head? I missed the first two mins last night, so assume it was there, or I blinked and missed it...

It was things like Davos freeing Gendry and the letters from the wall, which were seemingly key moments in the story but ended up being quickly shoehorned in. Felt a bit like they hadn't planned out the story arcs very well and suddenly remembered all this shit at the last minute.

It was the first scene pretty much so you'll have missed it.

My show Notes:

- Fairly underwhelming ending - not the episode itself, which was good overall, but the actual end scene with Daenerys which, whilst technically looked fantastic, was just a bit meh. We get it, slaves love her, she loves slaves, etc etc.... but really, the Messiah complex is going a bit OTT isn't it? As I've said before, she has used slavery to enchance her standing already (she wouldn't have an army were it not for slavery) which is hopefully a paradox she understands, either that or George Martin didn't think it through... because of that, I'd prefer less "look how amazing I am" moments, and more understated displays of power, which suit her much better and are much cooler.

- The Tywin power hour strikes back! He once again steels the show. Brilliant scene with the Lannisters... you know any scene that has Tywin and Tyrion in is likely to be gold.

- Ah man... Shay nearly fecked off!! So close...

- Dr. Onion is easily the most relatable character on the show for me. He knows his place in the world, and yet wants to always do the right thing... I'd have been annoyed if he had been killed off.

- A GoT, you devil... I don't give a shit about Bran, and I give even less of a shit about Samwell Tarley... but wang them in a scene together and I'm suddenly interested? How did that happen? Even when this show makes you think you don't care, it's secretly making you actually care... it's some form of sorcery.

- Ariya FINALLY killed someone. About bloody time. Now go on a killing spree.

- It would have been good to see more of Jamies return to Kings Landing... but I guess they're saving that for S4.

- At least we got to find out who has been torturing Theon... not that it was a big reveal or anything, though I suppose it makes sense? Anyway, I'm interested in the sister rescue mission... could be some good tv.

- Decent episode overall anyway... tied up the important plot points and mostly showed where they'll be going in S4. Plus, we all know by now that Episode 9 is the real finale, this is just the wrap up... I think prefer it that way actually.

Ha, that was a nice callback actually. Plus the last words of the guy he shot with the arrow during the fake escape were "you bastard", another little hint.

Sure I remember that, but aren't the dragons too young still to have any major impact ? Remember Daenarys saying in season 2 that they aren't growing fast enough, so she needs to gather a proper army. If the numbers above about 80,000 - 100,000 men armies are whats in store for her then doesnt she seems a bit fecked?

By the way, was gonna post some speculation on who would be killed off next, but I can't seem to find the spoiler function on the new forum. Anyone knows if there is one?

Does anyone know who the young girl was that tried to kill Daenerys? It was in the first or second episode this season and I think the old man who saved her said the girl was a warlock but who sent her/it?

I half expected it to reappear and hurt Daenerys in the final scene.

I'd recommend the GoT wiki page for this stuff, it purely focuses on the TV show.

Daenerys is distracted by a playing child following her and Jorah, and neither notice a man in a hooded black cloak following them, armed with a dagger. The child offers a gift to Daenerys - a wooden ball - but as she picks it up, the hooded stranger knocks it out of her hands; Ser Jorah grabs the stranger and their struggle knocks Daenerys to the ground, where to her horror, the ball cracks in half and a manticore emerges to attack. Before the creature can harm Daenerys with its lethal sting, the stranger, revealing himself to be Ser Barristan Selmy, kills it with his dagger, while the child, who hisses in a reptilian manner, baring teeth and features reminiscent of Pyat Pree, uses magic to escape. Ser Barristan falls to his knees, hoping to make amends for failing House Targaryen during and after Robert's Rebellion, when he served in her father's Kingsguard, he hails her as the rightful Queen and asks to serve in her Queensguard, to which she accepts.

It's Spoony.
And this means that it must surely be a wind up or something? Just a thought perhaps I'm finding Theon's torture scenes excessive and tedious, it just may be possible that Daenarys' quest and her band of sycophants bores me senseless. Or the likes of Joffery and other one dimensional characters makes me want to punch the TV. Last week was brilliant, it was the only episode of the series that I enjoyed but it was an anomaly. And if this a thread in which only positive things can be said....

No, just that you seem to set much higher standards for TV shows than the rest of us and thus we expect you to not like most of most TV shows barring the top tier ones. You should probably stop watching.

No, that's clearly bollocks. I love watching TV for the sake of entertainment, that's what it's there for. But this bores me senseless and for this reason doesn't entertain me. And I've said that I've given up. I've done that before when TV series descend into tedium... Like Prison Break and 24. Why oh why are they bringing 24 back. No doubt I'll watch it and complain but that's my perogative. It will annoy Elv, but heh...

Just use the spoiler tags: SPOILER /SPOILER within brackets.

Do you read much? Maybe you'd enjoy the you know what's more.

At least we wont be getting any more annoying posts from him about people talking about the recently aired episode until he watches it or what ever else he whines about every day.

I've not read a book for three months but I've got loads on my reading list... Sadly A Song of Fire and Ice isn't one that appeals. But you'll call me snobbish or something, Sol. Anyway I'm off to watch Supermarket Sweep.

I don't think that's snobbish at all. I do find the people on Supermarket Sweep to be one dimensional though.
