Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

So... I've just seen this weeks episode.

Oh my giddy fecking shit would be my initial thoughts.

Bookreader spoiler cnuts will be banned for 2 weeks minimum, and have ET Forum access removed permanently. Do not discuss anything to do with the books, not even the fact they are made from paper. Do not even discuss fecking paper in general. If you're posting in this thread, act as if the books do not exist.

I've bookmarked this post, just in case I forget.

Can I make the suggestion that any poster that has read the books colour their posts in red or something? So people can choose to skip over them if they wish? I know most in here are genuinely good at not giving things away... but I'm always worried about subtext and what not.

It's probably a shit suggestion, but it might work as a differentiator...

Just catching up with this thread now... 12 fecking pages?!

Okay, a couple of things.

People are slightly overreacting to the Red Wedding IMO. Watched a couple of reaction videos on Youtube, and people are going absolutely mental. I mean, it's shocking and unexpected and all, but seriously though?

Secondly, book readers are acting so damn superior to those of us who only follow the TV show. I remember the same thing happening after Ned Stark died in S1. I'm not talking about this thread in particular, but more in general. "Haha, fecking idiots! SUFFER! feck you to everyone who thought this would have a happy ending! NOW GO CRY IN A feckING CORNER!" That's the sense I'm getting from a few book people and it's really annoying.

If you go back a few pages, we do actually talk about the episode and not the...

I dont even remember who the 2nd flame person was. A pretender to the throne? Cant remember. I hope he dies soon so we can move onto the king

Joffrey? I am guessing he is going to die this episode and the season might end that way.

I like how you criticise book readers for acting superior... straight after being slightly superior over people who genuinely lost their shit when watching the episode! But yeah, seriously though, I know I was rocked to feck both during and after the episode... it was a genuinely shocking moment of TV, and if you're that immerised in the show to react so passionately, then more to you I say.

That probably sounds quite superior of me too mind... but yeah, I don't think peoples reactions are surprising, or anything to be critical about.

Yeah I've just read up, quite enjoyed peoples reactions

Too obvious. Judging from last episode Sansa and Tyrion will have a nice day out in the gardens drinking coffee before littlefinger turns up and throws acid into Sansas face and stabs the dwarf through the head

Oh, really? My bad.. Tywin would be a bigger loss for the show IMO, but I suppose there's no point getting attached to any character at this point.

nah, the second name was Balon Greyjoy

Yeah, thats who I meant, Stanis is the bloke who put the things in... I'm a fecking idiot.

But yeah, Tywin isn't a pretender to the throne, so it didn't make sense to have one for him within that context.

Also, Tywin is the best thing about the show in my opinion, but like you said... best to not get attached to anyone!

Agree 100%. Him and Tyrion are the best characters for me.

Tell thee what, I thought the show has done a really, really good job in seeding that "event"... pretty much consistantly throughout this whole season they have repeatidly banged on about how shit it was of Robb to go back on his word, and it's not easily forgiven etc... and even in this episode, they had that really drawn out apology scene... and yet I (and assume mostly everyone) didn't see it coming, so yeah, kudos to the show for that.

However, if this means more screentime for Samwell sodding Tarley...

I'm not that highly affected by Robb and Catelyn dying, but Talisa getting stabbed that way and her face when she's dead, that's left a huge scar. (no pun intended)

Just caught the latest episode. I don't think that I have ever been as shocked watching a television programme in my life!!!

so is Jon Snow the big wolf in the Stark family now? It seems setup for him to become a formidable leader at some point.

People getting butthurt about it are silly. In the Game of Thrones you win or you die. Robb Stark lost the war.. and he died. If you don't accept that your favourite character could die it's not the show for you.

The key things you learn about Walder Frey in season one are that he is a petty man who hates to feel slighted, he is known as 'The Late Lord Frey' because he only turns up for battles when the battle is won so he can pick the winning side and that he will kill anyone if there is a profit in it. So it's not like Robb didn't know who he was getting in bed with.

Edit: I don't mean in this thread, I'm just ranting about the general reaction on the interwebs

Jon Snow is a bastard, literally, and he'll never be accepted as anyones king.

I watched it last night on my holidays and I missed a couple of scenes with having to do stuff, but holy fecking shit balls!

I didn't see that coming at all. So many characters just popped off in one go. I was really hoping that someone would have thrown a dagger at that old bastard.

It was pretty grim all round to be honest, but I'll give it another watch when I get home.

How many episodes left until this season ends?

What's the deal with all this thread name change bollox as well?

I just rewatched the leech scene in episode 8.

Stannis names the following people while dropping the leeches in the fire: Rob Stark, Balon Greyjoy, Joffrey.

So if we assume they die in the order Stannis spoke. That means Balon (Theons father?) dies next and that would mean Theon would be the rightful ruler of the Iron Islands?

Bump, there you go bro (AN).

Getting actually angry at the shows writers/direction (especially when you consider its based on a book) are daft, thats what this show is, and it's previously established this fact... but I don't think theres anything wrong with people being really shocked/upset by it, like I said, if your invested in a show enough to show genuine emotion, then fair play to them... probably means they can enjoy the highs and lows of a show on a different level!

A caftard who will remain nameless... lets call him Spoontard. Looked into this thread without realising the episode had already aired. Thus he was spoiled. To counter his moment of retardness Hectic changed the topic name.

We also had some booktards who started giving away a few tidbits of information. Thus any more spoiling will be handled harshly by Hectic. Who I imagine will try and eat the nobheads heart with a rusty spoon.

Ta.

Though are we to believe that Stannis burning a leech had any effect on that old blokes actions?? Seems like he was always going to do that!

Not that I'd care if Balon gets it too... he's a nothing character, but yeah, I don't want to think that Fire Magic always works... otherwise it's just too easy!

I was very taken-a-back when I saw them kill Robb's wife in the way they did, really sad. In a sense, I'm glad she died because I think it would have been worse for her to lose her baby in such a manner and then live to feel the grief.

I'm not convinced it's not coincidence yet and I don't see Joffrey dying this season, it'd be too much.

tbh, normally i'd agree with you TH. But this was black magic from demon snatch woman. So i'm thinking there's more to it. The only bad thing I noticed viewing that scene back was Joffreys leech burst in flames, i'm hoping that doesn't mean the curse failed. :(

Just one :(

Joffrey is the ultimate bastard, I hope he does die.

I really hope Sansa doesn't have to stare at Cat and Robs heads on pikes like she had to with Ned. I will not be happy if that happens and I have a terrible feeling it will and that smug feck will be swinging his pencil cock around Kings Landing like he's won the war single handily.

I don't know, this Old Guy might now win in a bastard-off...

Not the Jon Snow type bastard off mind, he always wins that game.

Joffrey made a prostitute beat another prostitute to death, then he shot another with a crossbow. He threatened to rape Sansa, he did a ton of bastard stuff in season 2 when he was celebrating his name day and worst of all, he took Tyrion's steps.
