Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

People getting butthurt about it are silly. In the Game of Thrones you win or you die. Robb Stark lost the war.. and he died. If you don't accept that your favourite character could die it's not the show for you.

The key things you learn about Walder Frey in season one are that he is a petty man who hates to feel slighted, he is known as 'The Late Lord Frey' because he only turns up for battles when the battle is won so he can pick the winning side and that he will kill anyone if there is a profit in it. So it's not like Robb didn't know who he was getting in bed with.

Edit: I don't mean in this thread, I'm just ranting about the general reaction on the interwebs

Err no you don't. Stop being a blatant feckin book twat about it.

I don't follow...

Bookreader spoiler cnuts will be banned for 2 weeks minimum, and have ET Forum access removed permanently. Do not discuss anything to do with the books, not even the fact they are made from paper. Do not even discuss fecking paper in general. If you're posting in this thread, act as if the books do not exist.

was being silly based on this

I like Joffrey, I think he plays the role well. I obviously want something horrific to happen to him but I hope he sticks around for another season at least.

Every time I see him or hear him speaking I want to punch his face in, but he's such a smarmy faced prick. But that's what makes it good tv.

I really hope Sansa doesn't have to stare at Cat and Robs heads on pikes like she had to with Ned. I will not be happy if that happens and I have a terrible feeling it will and that smug feck will be swinging his pencil cock around Kings Landing like he's won the war single handily.

I don't know, I hadn't thought of that but I sort of hope it does happen. Just to drive the realisation of how stupid Sansa is and has been even further home.

Joffrey was the series uber cnut until that last episode.

From a balance point of view I now think we can afford to see him offed and at least revel in that for a bit.

There's only so much scope to his character tbf. Twyin is clearly the brains of that operation.

I don't know, this Old Guy might now win in a bastard-off...

Not the Jon Snow type bastard off mind, he always wins that game.

More Joffrey bastard-offing. He really is the ultimate bastard. I mean yeah, this Frey chap has had spectacular rise in the bastard ranking but he's still below Jaime Lannister for me. His position is more understandable, he made a deal with Robb and Robb broke the deal so he chose the opposing side.

The most curious part of the whole thing is why don't the Starks and Stannis Baratheon have some sort of unspoken alliance?

Yes, you do. In Season 1 Catelyn joins Robb's war effort just as he's reaching The Twins and tells him that her dad calls Lord Frey 'The Late Lord Frey' because he turned up after the Battle of the Trident.. then she and all Robb's generals spend a convo telling Robb how much of a twat Frey is after he claims Frey will be friendly since he is a Tully bannerman 'expect nothing of Frey and you won't be surprised' and one claims if they stay at The Twins Walder Frey might slit their throats in the night if theres a profit in it. Catelyn is constantly going on about how Walder Frey will take everything as a slight...

He's telling the truth, I think I remember this but wasn't it in the second season?

They needed to use his bridge across the river to be able to press their advantage if I recall correctly, which is when his oath to marry the daughter was made.

2 more things I've thought about:

1. Was the bloke who got married also in on it? I don't think he was... so does that mean he's also probably dead?

2. Did Walder Frey not break some like, very sacred rules by killing his guests? Didn't he swear by the 7 Gods they were safe or something?

1. Not sure, wouldn't surprise me if he was killed. Frey didn't care about his own wife being killed so he probably won't think twice about killing his daughter's husband. Unless he was in on it too.

2. I don't think he cares. The cnut.

He absolutely did. In the GoT universe this is apparently seen as the ultimate dick move.

I haven't read any of the books, but I wouldn't be surprised if Frey gets it big time at some point in the future.

Edmure Tully is the heir to Riverrun, they will want Frey's daughter to have his children so a 'Frey' will become Lord of Riverrun after him. I doubt he's been killed.

I haven't been this shocked to see a main character get killed off since Steven Segal was killed in Executive Decision.

Ok, not really but come on, it's Steven feckING Segal!

If I had time to read through this thread infractions and even temp bans would be flying around. No talk is allowed except what has happened in the series. No background info from the books or wikis or anywhere else is allowed at all. Any and all speculation about future events MUST be in spoiler tags.

If you lot haven't deleted or spoilered what you need to by the time I read this thread properly it will be a eblood bath in here. One to rival the end of the last episode.

Wibble is sort of the Tywin lannister of the thread, but more Australian..

1. No way can I see him being involved in the murder of his sister, I'd be highly shocked if that's true.

2. Yes, but he's a cnut and doesn't care.

I don't get how Jon Snow didn't realize that was Brann's wolf. I also don't get what exactly the wildlings' plan was with all 10 or so of them, that got taken out by one guy and a wolf.

Erm...It was discussed between Mance Rayder and them. Remember that whole biggest fire in the north stuff? And yeah it was more than 10 people if you paid attention.

Thats a good point... just how many DireWolves are there running round Westeros exactly? I suppose you could possibly put it down to shock/confusion as to what was happening... plus that bird fecked him up a bit, so he might have been worried about his face!

What I did like about the scene was how they didn't milk the fact that Bran and Jon were really close to each other. A lesser show would have done that incredibly annoying, really shit thing where bran looks out of the tower and Jon's behind a horse, then Jon pops out just after he's looked and looks at the window... that sort of nonsense.

Welll he did stare at the direwolf. So he surely must have realised? But warning Castle Black is more important than a brother hug.

If he'd stuck around he'd have been killed. Aside from being outnumbered, that big bearded ginger bloke looks like he could snap Jon Snow in two.

Also, he spotted his chance of getting away from the psycho, ultra-clingy, ginger las... He's not a one woman las is that Jon Snow...

Wibble you should let Solius go through this thread as he's read the book, and will know what should be excluded and what is ok.

I'll look out for them from now on, now that everything has been clarified.

Balls, I popped into the wrong thread for a second and read the first line of a post... How shit. Thankfully I stopped reading before - I imagine - actual shit was discussed.
