Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

The whole Euron Greyjoy plot is leaving me cold. Building a thousand ships in a short period of time is impossible. It took anywhere from 2 to five years to build 1 Galleon back in the 18th century imagine how long it would take to build 1000.

Next The Greyjoy's are basically pirates sailing the seas in search of merchant ships avoiding conflict with the Kings Fleet yet they didn't have one lookout to spot a fleet of a thousand ships sneaking up on them.

Him jumping down from the ship and bouncing around killing everybody was way too Jack Sparrow for my liking.

Lastly the Sand Snakes stabbed Euron more than once what ever happened to there poisoned weapons?

While I'n no fan of the Sand Snakes, Euron has replaced them as the most absurd Character on the show. I hope he finishes soon because he distracts from the other great characters in the show.
1) Do you really want to sit around for a couple of seasons watching Euron build ships? Somethings are done for the narrative and you just sort of go with the flow.
2) It was dark and foggy, you did notice how when Yara and Theon came up on deck they saw no other ships but their own until Euron's came out of the fog/smoke. Good use of cover by Euron's fleet.
3) Badasses in books and Tv shows are badasses. Besides did Jack Sparrow really ever kill that many people?
4) Did they say their weapons were ALWAYS poisoned, be a bit problematic keeping the poison fresh on the blades all the time, especially while at sea. Not to mention the risk of accidentally poisoning yourself with an errant slip.

They stood there for ages waiting for the gangplank to fall. How long do you think it takes to smear poison on a blade?

Another poster unwilling to take a reasonable explanation, because he is just determined to take issue with something. It is very reasonable they do not carry poison on their blades at all time, it is also reasonable that in a surprise attack that they would not immediately rush to their poison supply to poison the blades. Really does not take much to figure that out, unless you are just determined to find faults, even where they do not exist.

This is a TV show in which there are dragons, people get brought back from the dead, people can see into the past, there are giants, magic spells, zombies and a fat man can travel hundreds of miles on foot without losing weight. Yet you find the speed they build boats makes it hard to take seriously!
Yes.
The other things you mentioned are either mystical creatures or acts performed by magic. In a show like this they are fare enough.

Varys' travelling is also a cringe worthy part of the show but would take weeks at most to accomplish. When watching shows like this you accept the mystical/magical elements as long as they can be explained but acts like building a thousand ships mundanely overnight or even in ten years just strips away that sense of belief.

The ships were used to create another player in the game one who comes across as OTT as Captain Jack Sparrow. If I wanted to watch badly acted badly plotted pirates I'd have watch that series past the first movie.

So yes I have a problem with the ships and everyone who sails in them.

The show is at a period where we really dont need to see the actual time taking to travel. Id rather a fast forward on it and for periods of the story to jump which is certainly the case. Not everything is parallel either as weve seen numerous times, and this happened numerous times in the earlier seasons so not sure why its such an issue in the latter seasons.

I found it incredibly convenient that Euron knew exactly when and where to attack the fleet, could there be a traitor in Dany's camp? If so my bet is on Olenna, she wanted revenge and that wasn't the direction Dany was going, by informing on her plans she could force Dany into a full scale attack on KL thus achieving her revenge.

That would mean Olenna is indirectly helping Cersei who is responsible for blowing up her grand daughter.

1) I don't want him to be there his character is awful.
4) They stood there for ages waiting for the gangplank to fall they had plenty of time to prep their weapons(After all if you can build a fleet in minutes why does it take hours to prime a weapon).

1) fine, the creator and writers of the story feel otherwise. Nice thing is watching is optional if all this is too much for you.
4) has been explained, stop exaggerating time you just are making yourself look foolish, nobody said it took hours, now you are just being a whiney bitch.

4) we have a aggrandisement on how long it takes to prime a weapon with poison and that makes me a whiney bitch okay whatever. We have seen that they carry the poison on chains around their necks. It would take a couple of seconds to smear it on a blade at most but let's forget it we aren't going to agree on it.

Decent episode. Too much time spent on love scenes, and the foreign invasion line from mama Dorne was cringey as feck.

Decent episode. The show has reached a stage where it's catering to the larger masses with bigger visuals, more packed scenes rather than focussing on subtle hints of the earlier seasons. Sure, there are a lot of plot holes like the people mentioned, but it's time our expectations for the show change. It's no longer going to cater to the nitpickers.

It never should, because they will always find some little thing to complain about, regardless of how actually reasonable explanations are.

Between this thread and the Walking Dead thread there seem to be a large number of Caftards unable to grasp the concept of just not watching a show they hate. Perhaps it is the whole "look how clever and cool I am posting about how much I hate the show on the internet" that gives their lives some meaning.

Euron's army hit the Greyjoy fleet because they're in the same part of the map, heading into the same waters. It's not completely beyond the realms of possibility that they'd come into contact with one another, and it's also not beyond the realms of possibility that any message of an attack from a lookout would have travelled far too slowly before Euron managed to attack. I swear, if people analysed the earlier seasons with as much unnecessary scrutiny as they do these more recent episodes, Game of Thrones never would have become the worldwide phenomenon it is today. Suspend your disbelief just a wee bit and you'll enjoy it a whole lot more.

Who hates the show? The show is one of the best on the telly. So far in the whole show there has been 2 plots that I don't like. That of the Sand Snakes and That of Euron Greyjoy. Neither of whom have been large players until this season.

Sam peeling scabs to unearth juicy Mormont pus was the highlight of the show. Decent overall.

Transitioning into the meal at another place. Great stuff.
I did find Sam shushing him every few seconds as fantastic.

Also I really like the little call backs they do to previous seasons.

Arya saying 'thats not you' was a nice call back to her saying to Ned thats not me.
Sam helping a Mormont.
Arya and HotPie meeting up (and sowing that news really doesnt travel as quick as people think, especially to people on the roads as ravens dont deliver it there)
Varys being called out on working for pretty much everybody and of course backing Viserys initially.

With regards to Theon it would be funny if he never gets a redemption plot.
From s1 he was seen as a captured Greyjoy for the Starks, the whole Reek stuff, initially turning on Sansa when she tries to flee and now seemingly running away from saving his sister. If he just dies he might just be the most tragic character in GoT

Yeah going from digging a scalpel into Jorah's chest to digging a knife into one of Hotpie's pies was a great piece of editing.

Kinda disappointed Euron was just hyperbolising when he said he was the 'Drowned God'. Would have been cool to have an actual god running around.

that is a very good explanation, a quick google of the map of Westeros, or paying any attention to the show (since people are picking nits, they must watch every second with intense scrutiny) would let anyone know how close Dragonstone and Kings Landing are. Intercepting an enemy fleet is not impossible to do, especially if you know the general area to look. I mean how do people think naval battles ever happened before modern times? And yes without modern communications, word spreading from ship to ship in the dark, could take a bit of time.

Just watched the second episode. Feck me, there must not be much story left in the books to come (that will never come) because feck all is happening and we're two episodes in.

There's also the shock value of the attack. It seems like ages when watching it, but in real time even they would have been in a panicky state.

Maybe he is poisoned but it's a slow acting one that will take effect later. Maybe he is immune to that particular poison. Not worth getting worked up about.

I think they had another one where Missendei looked like she was going to grab something when having sex, but it transitioned into somebody grabbing a book. I tend to like transitions like that

Even if Ser Jorah recovers, he'll never be the beast he once was.

Nope, but just imagine:

Qyburn and his mountain vs Sam and his ... Jorah

Eh? A lot happened I thought especially in the second episode.

Not necessarily. He was leaving King's Landing and Yara was leaving Dragonstone.

latest

I was kinda hoping Theon when he jumped over the ship, would have landed into a rowing boat.

Oh hi, im Gendry.
Theon: ROW, ROW, ROW!!!
