Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Don't think that'll really matter to her. Her longest companion was her crazy brother. You think she's going to separate the Starks from the Lannisters and the Baratheons after getting indoctrinated by him?

Exactly this. While Starks didn't killed her family, all she know is that Baratheons, Lannisters and Starks are bad and usurped Targaryans throne.

That was an intense episode the whole way through!. People moaned it isn't moving fast enough sure got a lot happening in 1 episode

So bran has a special power that nobody else has? That's pretty cool... I wonder as he gets older will be in full control?. That mind control shit could be pretty handy.

the ending was quite unexpected, everything seemed rosey and then boom!. atleast that now clears up why Bolton let jaime go, and why potentially the Bolton bastard has theon locked up and tortured.

Talisa's death was so shocking I sort of didn't give a shit when Robb and Catelyn died.

This.

Shocking, but I'm not really fussed about the loss of those characters.

Talisa was a pretty pointless character, but she was like a pregnant Florence Nightingale which is why her death evoked the most pathos. Probably. Then again watching any pregnant women being stabbed repeatedly in the womb/stomach would be a trifle upsetting. But yeah I'll miss her lovely arse, which I've mentioned a few times.

Oh...apparently in the books Jaime was exerting revenge, whereas it was 'the Lannisters' in the TV show.

And did anyone else have the urge to pummel Gareth to death? I've been wanting to do exactly that...ever since the first series of The Office. I'm glad he's finely got his just reward.

and why potentially the Bolton bastard has theon locked up and tortured.

I don't get your point here? We don't know who has him and why would Bolton be torturing a man that helped the downfall of the Stark family?

Having slept on it, I have come to the conclusion that it was Boltons men that burnt down Winterfell, I always assumed it was Theons lot. But it seems obvious now it was Boltons bastard.

Anybody who follows Frankie Boyle on Twitter deserves what's coming to them

HOLY feckING SHIT!

See my brother on Monday and his first words were "DID YOU SEE GAME OF THRONES!?? OH MY GOD!!!" to which I proceeded to choke him nearly to stop him from spoiling it.

Just watched it. Never expected that. One of the craziest 5 or so minutes I've seen in recent television. Just holy shit!

Awesome episode. Noticed the guard closing the doors and thought, hmmm what's happening here. Hold on everyone's in the room so probably some important announcement from Frey that he wants Winterfell or something...can't be a massacre as too many important characters present. Then BOOM!

Didn't feel that sorry for Robb/Catelyn but did feel for Arya, Bran and Rickon.

Only watched TV shows but my guess/hope is:

Once Bran finds out he'll go stark raving mad, which should strengthen his (soon twisted) mind control. My guess is he'll be bringing those white walkers down south for some revenge business. With Danearys' dragons coming west and Stannis 'obliged to save Westeros' ("I dind't choose to become King") it really will be a Game of Thrones but with outworldly powers. The Lannisters better get creative, money won't cut it.

Does Daenerys have anything against the Starks?

The Starks helped to remove her family (was Aerys her father or was he further back?) from the throne, so I can't see her being fond of them.

She has the tendency to rescue people. I guess slaves. So when she finds out the main Stark members are all dead, she might sympathize with the kids?

I might be miles wide off the mark, but here goes.

I think this plan has been hatched for quite a while, the burning of Winterfell was just the start. As we know Theon is the heir to the Iron Islands, and when his father dies, if they have broken Theon through torture they could make him their puppet. Having the Lannisters, the Greyjoys and the Freys all on 1 side will be a mighty powerful alliance.

Take into Account that they also plan to Tyrion running the North, and Cersei and Joffrey marrying the Tyrells, they truelly would be unstoppable. Sure it seems a little farfetched, But the Boltons probably knew that Theon was at Winterfell and decided to turn him while they had the opportunity.

That might be the best episode of TV I've seen in terms of shock value. I can't think of any better.

I thought the final scene was perfectly executed (no pun intended). From the band playing the song we've heard so much this season, to Catelyn suspecting Bolton of betrayal to the ending where all the Starks die and then silence as the credits rolled. Brilliant viewing.

A part of me is glad Robb and his mother are out of the way. They're the most boring of the Stark family and they had hardly made any progress since the start of Season 2. That said, I hope someone brutally murders the old man and Bolton as revenge.

I am most disappointed for Arya. So close to family, then that happens. The way she stood up to the Hound and then was willing to go into the castle was awesome. I'm really looking forward to what happens to her now and what the Hound does with her. I hope she finds the fire people or the assassin from last season and gets her revenge.

Bolton is a cnut. Making deals with Jamie is one thing, to kill his own King is a whole new level of cnutish betrayal. Unless I'm mistaken, this leaves the Lannisters with no threat from the North (unless Theon's dad wants to fight).

Bran finally did something useful this season. The power to take control of others is quite cool. Daenerys was a bit boring this week, but she's again got a bigger army and hopefully it won't be long until she heads towards Kings Landing.

I don't get the point of Sam's story so far. Unless he's a really important character who they're building up for next season, his story is completely pointless.

The look on Ygritte's face when Snow leaves her

Overall brilliant episode. Can't wait for the finale, hopefully it's as good as this week.

So it's the next day and I'm still debating to myself how highly I rate it amongst the 'best episodes ever', I've always considered the three best to be Pine Barrens (The Sopranos), Face Off (Breaking Bad), and Bastogne (Band of Brothers), I think because I knew what was happening I'd probably put it a tier below them, but if I didn't, I'd probably rate it as highly.

Tywin Lannister atm:

Tyrion, definitely Tyrion. GRRM loves the character; I don't think he has the guts to kill him.

Get the feck out of here with your book knowledge for feck sake.

I've never seen a post from Everest Red in the book thread to be fair TH, so he probably hasn't read them. GRRM loves doing interviews!

Plot Theory Talk:
But torturing Theon isn't the way imo to form an alliance. It'd surely have the reverse effect and make Theon hate the Boltons. The way to form an alliance is to fake rescuing him, so the guy torturing him would have taken him to Boltons Castle rather than back to the torture castle. Then Bolton could have offered Theon the heir to the Ironthrone by killing his father, who he now realises he hates. That was the way to turn Theon.

I'm guessing that once Balon dies, whoever has Theon (are we even sure its Bolton?) will sell him back to the Iron Islands. Theon then becomes lord of the Iron Islands and he'll have a massive debt to repay to the Starks. He'll be a useful ally as long as the Starks can trust him. They may have no choice, they have very few friends left it seems.

Yeah I really didn't like that.

Jon Snow is so pretty.

You know nothing MissGiggs.

His post seemed to imply Tyrion lives past this season and well into the next few, or that's what I got from it at least.

I only use stuff from the show to post in here. I've let go plenty so as not to show bias. It's not hard to do if you have sense.

This is why book readers shouldn't be in here.

I've already put 3 posters from this thread onto my ignore list in the last 24 hours. They're staying there until the series ends.

Book readers should read the thread, or post neutral comments like this.

I don't think they are trying to make friends, they just want to control him. He is clearly weak and at this stage would do anything to escape. I think if they give him an option of going home and handing over power when his dad dies he will not refuse.

Sure they could have gone down the befriending route, but this the game of thrones, they dont play nice

We should just kill off all the book readers. Let's start with everyone who wears glasses and take it from there.

But Theon could go back to the Iron Islands and stick 2 fingers up at Bolton. Controlling using force never works unless the controller is always near the victim.

That might be their plan to control Theon, but I don't think it'll work. It'll have the reverse effect and make Theon simply more inclined for retribution. If there's one thing Ned Stark seemed to do its to empower his children with morals and being honorable people (which you could deem a weakness). Theon lost sight of that when he cast the Starks aside to try and repair his relationship with his father. I think Theon will revert back to how Ned Stark taught him and therefore he'll do everything in his power to kill those that tortured him and then fight back at those that killed Rob and Cat.

This is assuming that Theons sister won't take the throne and kill Theon.

Or feck off

Why?

I haven't mentioned anything about the story. All I've said was the reactions are priceless, and we've been waiting a while for this - we all went through it too. Anyone who spoils anything should be shot, then banned.

Yeah I really didn't like that.

It was awesome. The second those doors closed I knew she was going to die, but I didn't expect it to be like that. I'm glad she died and it was so brutal, I knew she would be part of the downfall of Robb so she deserved a mental death. I also like how pathetic he looked when he died, completely helpless and there was no remorse or happy ending over the loss of such a big character/hope.
