Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Isn't episode 1 of each season usually fairly uneventful but then gets going after that?

Or am I imagining things

We have a diehard in work, who is getting up early to watch it before he goes in. That's dedication

Surely the fact it's only 7 episodes in the season means we can have zero 'filler' episodes now.

I think it would depend on your definition of filler?

There'll still be a fair few episodes with minimal action and CGI I reckon, but it'll be episodes which will advance and progress the story and character/relationship development of sorts.

But yeah, those shouldn't be classified as filler.

Yes, but this isn't a normal season. There is a lot to be resolved in 2 half seasons. Like @Minimalist said.

Though it'll probably still be another episode or two until we get some battlin' or a major death. Still haven't worked out in my mind who I think the first major character to meet their Maker will be...

Must admit I lost interest in it last season. I thought it was easily the weakest season

Can't remember how it ended even and not seen one add for the new one yet

Really hope it picks up again

I thought last season started a bit slow but from episode 5 it really picked up.

But yeah, I think most shows find it difficult to sustain the quality throughout numerous seasons.

Who else watches this religiously like me and then realises "Ohhh I'm on Virgin Media.." most annoying thing about it when you see Sky Atlantic adverts for it 24/7, every Sky Channel available accept this one.

You shitting me? Last two episodes of Season 6 are perfect television. I'm about to watch them again prior to 2am!

Really? Last season was a huge improvement over s5, and even then s5 wasnt as bad as its made out to be. (had that wicked Hardhome ep and lot of stuff happening in the final ep or two).

Also, in s2 and s3, Shae was such an ungrateful bitch. Everything Tyrion did for her, and all she did was be ungrateful.

We probably will never be able to determine her true intentions (whether she was playing Tyrion from the start). This cut scene might shed some light on her though. Might just be her way of feeling worthless (being abandoned and feeling used as a whore) and her way of getting back at Tyrion?

Been playing the PS4 game for the last few hours to get into the mood for the new season. It's actually a very well made game.

I think the 7 episode format will help the show. Last season was basically two amazing last episodes preceded by a lot of average ones with little excitement. If it has the same budget cramped into fewer episodes I think we're in for a treat.

Dunno tbh. That scene was weird though given what Bronn said. He practically knew why Tyrion did what he did, but Bronn is making it seem like Tyrion is evil and just used her. Strange stuff.

Unless he didnt really take her to the ship and took her to Tywin, (and he lied to Tyrion that he saw her get on the ship etc).
Kinda pointless now anyway lol.

I just watched the last episode of the sixth season again to remind myself what's going on.

The scene with the Jon reveal really is incredible, one of the best TV moments I've ever seen.

The Door was fecking amazing! The Broken Man (The Hounds return) was also pretty fantastic bar the Braavos scenes, ugh.

Yeah, I just watched through Season 6 in the last few days. What stood out to me was how laboured the Kings Landing storyline felt. The Braavos scenes weren't as bad as I remembered either. The Door was a superb episode though and probably the saddest episode since the Red Wedding (if not more so).

Yeah I mean there were still good episodes, but the last two were a level above, and hopefully season 7 will be more like them throughout.

I don't remember The Door being great aside from the last ten minutes.

Housemate was watching season 6 over the weekend so I joined for a little rewatch. Have ignored all trailers and build up to this to avoid being spoiled but now I'm really looking forward to it.

Rewatched season 6 & saw the 'GoT story so far' episode on Sky. Can't wait for this to start. Expect this to be the best season to date.

Unfortunately have work early tomorrow so will need to avoid spoilers/social media until Monday evening :(

Before I get preempted, I'm going with the shocking death being
all the dragons
, and the cliffhanger at the end of the season being
The Wall collapsing.
.

don't know weather to bite the bullet and stay up and watch this, or wait till tomorrow :nervous:

Yeah it only has 2 ads live (was the case last season).

My predictions for the season:

-We learn Bran is the reason the Mad King went... mad. (sorta like how Hodor became Hodor)
-One dragon dies
-Little finger and Cersei die.
-Wall Collapses, again indirectly thanks to Bran - but more so cos of the White Walker.
-Arya finally meets up Melisandre after their meeting in s3 (and Gendry returns too)
-We see dead Hodor as part of the White walker army
