Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

i think Rome was 10M per episode, and that was 10 years ago. (GOT is like 6 per episode)

Unless they are really loosing a lot of money vs Netflix and internet streams/torrentz, it shouldn't be a budget issue, but a creative one.

HBO is pretty quick to kill shows when they decide enough is enough and they cant keep up with the quality of previous seasons.

I'd say this year has been much better than last year, and there's still 4 to go. If that article is true, I'm worried they'll rush to the ending & everything will be a clusterfeck

Eh, all the big shows have 'conveniently' split the last season into two. Mad Men, for one. And Breaking Bad, if I recall correctly.

So what are the chances we end up with two Queen's on the Iron Throne....Sansa and Dany both put off of men by their experiences find true love and a kingdom to rule together.

Anyone who wants that speculation spoilered is being overly dramatic, since obviously I made it up out of thin air.

I have this horrible, soul destroying feeling. That Cersei will choose the mountain (obviously) and the High Sparrow will summon a healed Hound. Given the amount of characters returning from the dead recently it wouldn't shock me one bit. Sigh.

I've seen that speculated on quite a lot.

another possible theory for this would be Ser Loras.....he's still held captive by the high sparrows and you could see him being used as an act of contrition for the sin of sodomising.......He's pretty handy with a sword and you'd expect the zombie mountain to destroy him but you never know

Loras looked a shell of a man a few weeks ago so this is a long shot but it would represent an interesting plot twist

the High Sparrow can't lose.....Cersei's champion fights the son of Mace Tyrell!! would surely lead to a split in their temporary truce against the High Sparrow

That would be marvelous, actually.

the budget for season 1 was $60m and it's been far more 'spectacular' since then. It's probably at least $100m a season now.

Spoilered just in case - not anything to do with the story or future speculation, just the upcoming plans for HBO's season renewals of GoT & episode length:

Apparently the upcoming seasons will be shorter than the usual 10 episodes & there's only 13 episodes left in total after this season. Not sure how they'll fit everything in if that's true:

From what I read, it was the two Davids that wanted only one more season and it's HBO that are trying to convince them to do more. The 13 episodes split across 2 seasons was being touted as a compromise.

I could be way off the mark, but that's what I recall reading.

It might be true but it could also be publicity raising bullshit. It wouldn't totally surprise me if we had another 20 episodes to go.

I do remember reading something similar. I personally think 13 hours is more than enough time to wrap things up. There's too many filler episodes and characters standing still as it is.

I feel after the pace of the last 6 seasons 13 episodes is not enough.

I personally thought it would go up to 10 seasons.

This is the YouTube video of Bran's visions from the last ep. It's in slow motion so might give some clues to future events.

I'm a bit wary of posting it, but seeing as it did technically air already...

I think it's cool. When you see something like this video, you realise they too can be kinda cheapskates when they want to because they repeat a few frames a few times, and most of it is old footage. Call this their bottle episode in painstaking miniature :D

So was that flashback kinda confirmation that Bran inadvertently made the mad King hear things? Like in "The Door" when they are trying to wake Bran and people seem to hear them. The mad King can hear someone shouting "burn them all" (referring to the undead) but the mad King takes it as some sort of divine command which young Jamie has had enough of.

Anyone else notice Jaime Lannister's head super-imposed on the rider as he galloped up the stone stairs to face High Sparrow?? I thought that was a tricky manoeuvre at the time for the horse as the steps were quite narrow. Was so disappointed when High Sparrow never got his comeuppance....smug git!

Anyway, I'm starting a Waif Appreciation Society. Really hope she doesn't croak it in the next episode though I know she inevitably will as one of them has to go now.

What could you possibly like about the Waif?

I think she is a bitch. I really hope she dies painfully.

Seriously??? She may be a bitch but she is a seriously hot bitch! Just love the Waif...not enough screen time for me!

Didn't realise you meant appreciation as in hotness.

Just for you, I will amend my statement to: I hope she dies painfully, but there is no damage to her face.

 I do appreciate her as well. I do like her character. Wish they would develop it more but I know she probably won't last much longer now.

If we're talking about under-appreciated hot people then I vote for the girl in the theatre troupe who keeps wandering around topless.
