Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I thought Bran was controlling Hodors present version by Warging into his past self. Therefore Hodor youngster was was essentially living out his death at that very moment which caused him obviously major trauma.

But present older Hodor had no control over his actions and therefore dying (we assume) because Bran wouldn't let him run. Disturbing thought.

Bran is a selfish sadistic cnut in that case, hope he gets wiped out soon.

Pretty sure Bran had no idea it would cause that though. Raven chappy didn't tell him why Hodor changed in the episode before when he first saw him speaking.

Loved the 4th episode. The 5th not so much. Was nodding off while watching it, but managed to make it through to the end. Not sure what to make of this time travel malarkey with Hodor. "Hold the door"/Hodor seems a bit of a stretch, but then again this is GoT. Can someone explain to me why it was that moment in time that Hodor became Hodor? Bran was already out of his trance and in the present, wasn't he?

Maybe Raven Chappy knew what was going to transpire and knew that it had to happen.

Bran somehow warged into present Hodor through past Hodor. So we think something along the lines of past Hodor saw the horrific death of himself through the eyes of present Hodor, sending him crazy.

Yeah that's what i was thinking... like he knew it had to happen, but how could he tell him. Bran would never have gone through with it otherwise, and Raven chappy needs him for whatever comes next.

I don't think Bran was controlling him at the door, he didn't have that vacant warg look on his face, he was terrified but resolute in holding the door. When Bran tried to warg into him whilst in the past it caused some weird feedback loop of consciousness between Willis and Hodor traumatising the young Hodor & Bran was still there watching him.

I also don't think he knew the event of his death was coming up, remember in the scene before the attack when Meera said to him about cooking him up some eggs when they get back and he was all like "ohh Hodor"

Yeah that sounds more accurate actually... that's why Hodor was so fixated on the hold the door phrase, he had to do it himself.

Maybe the eggs thing just distracted him for a second, i'd have to watch it again really.

Made even worse when you consider it was his fault they got attacked in the first place. He got Hodor and Summer killed. Twat.
Who's Summer? Is she the dark, tree-fairy thingy? Why feel bad for her? Wasn't she the cnut that created "white walkers" in the first place?

What if Raven chappy is actually Bran?

Ha, that'd be a crazy one... i guess the only way would be to find a way to take over someone's mind completely, in the past, with his own... maybe that's a bit too far though :)

Essentially, Bran's journey made Hodor who he is. Hodor's purpose in life was to save and serve Bran. He is becoming a huge character, and given that the show has shown this progression it could mean a lot more to come.

I hate this wait tbh. Yes, spoilt by the binge watching culture that Netflix brought us. Ahhh.

I kinda am hoping the time travel aspect is left out now, especially as Bran knows the power of it (and this was a learning thing) - which essentially made sure history happened the way it was intended.

Yeah Netflix has ruined me.

I was actually thinking last night with all the different storylines I could quite happily sit and watch it for 12 hours no problem.

This has made my head hurt.

Wait, what's that? I genuinely don't understand what is this thing that Hodor is depicted on. Is this a door handle of sorts?
It's used to chip under an open door in order for it to stay open.

Hang on.

In Russia you don't have door stops?! So when a door that you want to stay open closes what do you do? This is the most interesting thing I've found out in the last 15 minutes.

We have bears to hold our doors for us.

On a serious note - I've seen some but they had a different shape.

In my apartment the door that I want to have open stays open, it's that simple. I've seen people putting a piece of paper under the door instead. I don't think that we have door stopper as a commonly used accessory

In Putin's Russia doors hold you open.

Brad wargged into present day Hodor when Bran was in the past. Once in present day Hodor he wargged into (or something like that) past Honor as present day Hodor (present day Hodor's eyes went white). Past and present Hodor were now linked (thus the passing of the phrase Hodor) and the experience fried past Hodor's brain leaving him with just the one phrase. Thats my take on it.

Yeah makes sense. So far we have seen warging in only one being at a time Jon with Ghost and a couple of wildlings warging into eagle and owl. This also shows how Bran is more powerful than people with normal warging abilities in that he can warg in more than one person at the same time.

Edit: Perhaps the limitation of his power could be that he can warg in the same person at different point in times together but not in two separate person at the same time.

Im still surprised at how people still dont understand the rules / how or when to use spoilers for this thread and what is / isnt allowed.

Huh, is that directed at me? I went and read the OP before posting it, it says "future episode talk in spoilers":confused:

Edit:
Q. What has to go in spoiler tags?
  • All speculation. e.g. "I think that this character is.. I think this will happen.."
  • All future spoilers, including talk about trailers, casting, etc.
