Caught up with the first 3 episodes and....who is the man in the tree? I recall seeing him in Star Wars
I liked Ramsay's ice cold murder of his dad and brother. That's the kind of ruthlessness that will be needed to beat the ice walkers. I think I actually prefer him to Jon Snow. Little shit Olly stabs you in the heart and you look like you're going to cry when you need to execute him? Pathetic stuff, they should've let you rot in a ditch
The three eyed Raven/crow whatever. You know how they spent most of season 4 showing Bran being lead to places by the three eyed raven/crow that he followed? He followed it to the tree, and underneath it is the man who is essentially the three eyed raven/crow. In the show, it said he'd been waiting ages and ages for Bran so that he could teach him to be a greenseer like him. He is essentially like Yoda teaching Luke to become a Jedi. Except Bran is potentially more powerful than him because he is also a warg/other things as well I think. These aren't spoilers, the show has already covered this.
Btw, just checked - Jon Snow's murder involved like 15 people or so. All of whom stabbed him
1. Why are there so few scars on him?
2. Why did he execute just 4 of them?
He is the 3 eyed raven that Bran saw earlier, who lead him to the North and beyond the Wall. Apparently it's an actual person growing in the tree. He and those anthropomorphic creatures are related to the Old Gods if I understood correctly - so we have the Lord of Light; the 7 (New Gods); Old Gods (with Bran becoming their prophet or something) and the Many-faced God. And apparently all of them have actual magical powers.

Aye you could be right. Stannis was avenged by Brienne to end her several seasons long dream of avenging Renly and at least we got to see the sword swing. I just can't think of a reason Arya wouldn't have run him through herself and ticked another name off the list. This idea that she grew a heart and took him off the list seems weak, if nothing else - a quick end would have been kinder. I'm probably way over thinking it.

There are many scars...you're probably thinking of the close-ups where it was from the chest up. A lot of the stabbing was in the gut which you can see when the ginger-lady is washing him.
And I just assumed he only killed the ringleaders personally. Those that fell in line are maybe punished off-screen or not by Jon, which would make sense seeing as how he's no longer part of the Night's Watch.
It would be alot simpler to police. One thread purely for those who wish to review the episodes they have just watched, spoiler free and the other thread for pure speculation based on the future TV episodes. Those who need to catch up on episodes etc should be told to stay away and catch up in their own time.
The book thread should be a complete free for all in my opinion. I have never read the books but once I got to season 5 of the TV series, I wanted more background knowledge of the show and reading about the various theories etc has enhanced rather than ruined my enjoyment of the show.
It is an absolute car crash at the moment and I don't envy you mate, it seems like an impossible job at present.
Why is speculation any issue, anyhow? So long as it doesn't contain information from the books, I don't see why it should be spoilered?
In previous seasons the thread has been a good read albeit with the odd offender being banned for mentioning book content. But conversation still flowed. Speculation wasn't an issue then. Now it's gone into overdrive and the Sparrows are running around stamping out everything, no matter how innocuous. Soon enough we'll be left with an eyesore where the page is going to look something like this:
Theon is going to bang Arya
Episode was shit, worst TV series ever ~ RN7/Randall
Whos Theon again?
How? He doesn't have a cock, remember?
Episode was good! I liked learning about their motives.
Where you get that information from?? The books?? Mods!!
Relax, don't you remember the Ramsey sausage scene?
The Walking Dead is much better.. boring!! Less talking more shooting!
Yeah our speculation based on TV show "should" be fine imo (though I do know it states in the rules and thread it should go in spoiler tags). There should be absolutely no theory posting or spoilers from books or book talk or from internet vids etc.
Its hard to determine if people are speculating based on something theyve read vs something theyve thought, but whether thats in a spoiler or not shouldnt matter. I can kinda see why the rules are in place though. (cant remember posting much in this thread or TV forum when the rules were introduced however).
Saying that, it really shouldnt be that hard to follow.

We are past the books for the most part, according to what others have told me. The problem isn't book spoilers, it's well developed theories based on researching the books that people post as their own 'speculation' of which some at least will likely come to fruition. Hence, they are basically spoilers.

I had envisioned Rickon riding on top of the dire wolf and coming with a host of Northern men to help wipe out Ramsey and then unite the North and help Jon to fight the Others.

So in one of the trailers before Jon Snows revival, Tormund says something like " I thought he was the man to lead us in the darkness".... Was this just a complete troll by the writers!?
I don't want to trall back but what's the consensus here with The tv show deviating from What happened to Mance raider ? I loved his character in books and show

Maybe they put in the preview to raise doubts about Jon getting resurrected, but he's actually talking to Jon about Mance Raider (while giving Jon command of the Wilding army?).

thought the same thing. But what I'm assuming is that John is now gone off own his path and that doesn't involve the Wildings as of now. Once Brann returns everyone will unite against the Whitewalkers
Just watched this clip from an earlier season and towards the end Melisandre says to Arya "we will meet again". Do we think that's something the writers have forgotten and if not, in what circumstances could they meet again?

I have a feeling she'll head back to Westeros with Jaqen/No One on some super secret killing spree/mission and she'll be a target. Where else is her story going?
