Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Yeah but he was long dead when they found him in the courtyard... why bother moving the body. I know it's probably respect and all that, but when he can jump up and start trying to eat their faces like the other guy, why take that risk?
He wasn't long dead. Davos finds him the very same night. He hears Ghost howling, which he started as soon as Jon was stabbed. They've been in that room for a few hours, I think.

Yeah maybe it was soon after then, it's hard to tell i guess.

But he looked pretty well dead. So for me either Davos wasn't thinking straight, wasn't used to the zombie thing so didn't consider it, or hoped red witchy girl would do some magics?

Davos has never seen 1 come back to life, probably only a few men actually have alive.
They're locked in a room with him. In a house made of wood, no less. Hardly the the best decision to burn him right now.
They could have burnt him when they killed him? What I don't get is why the murderers left him outside for everybody to find, and suddenly once they've got his body they decide they are going to charge in and nick it back? Why not just kill him and hide him away in the first place, say he's gone to see the wildings or something

Yarrr... he be back soon of that ye be mighty sure.

Why take the effort to nail a stake in the ground and paint 'Traitor' on it? It was to send a message. Remember, not everyone was in on the murder.

Do they want to charge in to nick the body back or are they more concerned that there is a group that might oppose their power play?

You guys are thinking too much. It's logical to get the body inside first and have a discussion on what to do next.

By the timw they realise whats going on they're left with no choice but to barricade themselves.

Davos know they cant stop the watch but at least that'll buy them some time.

I dont know if he counts melisandres necromancy into things, but it looks pretty sound to me. What are they gonna do? Confront the mob?

Exactly.

How well did they check Jon to see if he was dead or alive when they carried him inside? If they thought he might still be alive it would make sense to get him inside would it not?

I do think there is a tendency to over analyze things on this show though.

I hope that little shite Olly will get killed by a White Walker or a wight.

There have been some brutal deaths in Game of Thrones, but I hope that little cnut is torn to shreds by Wildlings & Ghost. Then the dragons can come & make toast from his corpse.

They know he's dead, doesnt take a priest to know that.

But the circumstances, the sign, a bloody corpse, conspirator, it's still a logic thing to do. They are seasoned warriors, they're not gonna panic and start screaming like a prom queen.

I am not sure if anybody here answered how the feck did Sansa and Theon survive that jump? No broken bones, no bruises, no limp, nada! I thought when they jumped it would be suicidal but the show carried on like they had climbed down a ladder or something. I was hoping they would show how they survived a leap from that height.

It was thick with snow and snow always collects much thicker at the base of buildings as it falls down from the walls and slides off roofs.

There is literally zero reason for Melissandre to be at Castle Black other than to resurrect Jon Snow. She abandons Stannis as he's about to die and has the entire South and the rest of the world to disappear into and feel sorry for herself. Instead she decides to head north for precisely nothing, hope that Lord Onion doesn't discover she burned his favourite god daughter at the stake and be cold and old in a dark, grimy room surrounded by rapists and murderers? I think not.

Why do I not even remember this chap?

I thought the episode was pretty average. Too much screen-time to a lot of characters/story arcs that have become quite boring. It's also possibly because a lot of story arcs have become quite boring, given they killed half the cast off. John Snow being resurrected will probably bring this back to life (ha!).

They probably had about an even spread between all key characters at the moment so that definitely tells you something about your opinion of the ones left.

I think Brands arch is going to be most interesting this year.

I was annoyed that they didn't underestimate the jump and scrape their heads to feck all down the wall.

Indeed.

That must have been like a 50-60 feet drop. Even if it was snow, it won't just give in and let you land softly. The impact will still be very jarring.

Why do I not even remember this chap?

He's the young kid who's family was killed by wildlings, and was one of the gang who stabbed Jon. The thing is, i can almost forgive Olly. I mean he's what, 10? And he's just seen every person he's ever known and cared about raped, ripped apart, murdered and about to be eaten. You can forgive him for being totally messed up in the head after that, and not being able to deal with the same people being rescued by Jon.

For me it's Alliser who's the evil one, just a narrow minded bitter twisted idiot who can't see past his own hatred of the world. But then he's, in his own twisted mind, still just defending castle black. It's never straight forward in this show!

Yeah i was wondering about that... the only thing i can think of is the fact there's more kings blood there in Jon. Otherwise, why would she pick there to feel sorry for herself. She can't have known Jon needed resurrecting, so bit of a hole there!

As an afterthought, unless she's that down, she's reaching out to the only person she has any kind of connection to left, Davos.

I also think it's unlikely that White Walkers and Dragons exist.

I don't think that's a fair point as injuries and such are portrayed fairly realistically as far as I can remember.

I just think it's pedantic to a daft degree to worry about the physics and logistics of a jump into snow. Maybe it was a moat under the snow, maybe it was a tarpaulin the snow was sitting on, maybe it was a big heap of the horses hay. Just do what the writers want you to do and assume that a twist of fate had lady luck on their side and the landing was favourable.

Aye I agree with you there

This honestly reads like the writers are just making it up as they go along.

Do you watch it?

Done my research and you don't. So therefore... back you devil! The writing is superb at least for the first 4 seasons. It's gradually declining as the source material reduces and the writers begin to make it up.

It's the forensic analysis and personal opinions that give it a hard time. It's a great program, people just need to relax and enjoy it.
