Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Just finished all 5 seasons. I love the premise and hugely enjoy the way it's made, but the direction the story takes as well as the characters annoy me increasingly during its passage.

Ned Stark was the most engaging character in season one and they got rid of him.

They built up the stark vs lannistor angle so much and so well, and randomly killed most members of one family, and two of the others in a completely unrelated way.

Stannis is such a pointless character. They again build him up as someone of relevance spending long durations doing so but he keeps getting hammered at wars and does little of note but lose.

The Bolton angle is completely pointless. They add nothing but "villain-ness" but not in a good way. Very bland characters who have gained prominence for no apparent reason.

Also, never liked denaris either. So the story inevitably heading in the direction of her being the saviour is not something I particularly want to see.

Tyrian is fantastic though. Easily the best living character in the show, and the most engaging. And Jaimie has become more interesting since his capture.

What are you on about? I'm talking about CASTING spoilers.
I'm on about my post at the end of the previous page, in a non serious way, where I put stuff in spoilers which didn't have to be.

Started watching this over the past couple weeks, got upto season 3 and I just had to stop and share the moment where they end the episode with chopping off Jaime's hand and the subsequent soundtrack over the end credits is absolutely boss as feck.

Watching all of this again and in series 4, Karl Tanner sounds like everyone I have ever known in my life.

NSFW
=""]

Recently started to rewatch the whole thing and damn, first season really was a cracker, so many great scenes I had forgotten. Jame was such an arrogant asshole back than and Tyrion is so cocky and funny at the beginning. The way he is dicking Theon in that scene:

I also thought these intense speeches were mostly in the later seasons (like Tyrion at his trial etc.) but there are some brilliant minor ones that makes the rewatching really worthy, like these:

Normally I'm not a fan of watching something twice but I can really recommend it for GoT.

I'm on my third of forth run through, watching with my brother for his first time. I think the show gets better the more times you watch it because there are so so many little details, connections and parts of the plot that you pick up on that you missed initially. Series 1 more than anything as the first time you watch it you don't really take note of all the details at the start as you're trying to figure out who's who. It's great to watch the first scene knowing exactly who they are and the significance of everything.

People need to tread carefully around youtube videos again.. Saw what I think is a major spoiler for next season in the comments section, while scrolling down to a video.. :(

How on earth are people getting Spoilers? The books are done with, the show has caught up with the books, and no new book is anywhere close to being released.

Well I haven't read the books, so maybe it's just rumors..

I'm just going to post how they got them in spoilers.. Incase it's not allowed to be discussed..

Pictures from the set apparently!! I didn't look around much to confirm the said pictures..

Ah! Thats the most likely source I guess.

Is it safe to enter the book thread now?

Are we level or is there still story arcs that haven't played out in the show yet?

No spoilers but just in case

Pretty much level, but the 5th season of the tv show varied wildly from the source material of the 4th and 5th books at times so if you enter you'll mostly get people complaining about that

To be honest, you're the one that needs to be careful if you're scrolling down comments... You had to click into the video and seek out the potential spoilers rather than just clicking play.

I didn't expect to find spoilers of GOT in the comments section of How It Should Have Ended video, which i wasn't even actively reading.. Was looking at some video suggestions on the side and before I realized my brain honed in onto a comment with the words GOT in it.. So I certainly didn't seek out anything.. Don't know why you felt I sought them out..

 You don't expect to read spoilers on the internet? Should be common sense to be honest if you go reading through comments it will be full of spoilers. Even when people talk about it you have to ask for no spoilers. The internet is full of them everywhere. When Star Wars comes out people will go onto the trailers on YouTube just to leave spoilers there to piss people off. The only reason there isn't spoilers in this thread is the threat of a ban. Seek out as in you have to put effort in to find them and go looking. Like clicking into the video to open YouTube rather than clicking play and then scrolling down reading the comments. That's not on the person that posted the video.

TBF, ive seen spoilers in unrelated videos on youtube (was trying to find out what song was used in that video). Thats kinda why I just stopped reading comments - not really seeking out potential spoilers is it?!

Well it is really, since you have to actually do extra effort in order to find them. He's complaining about people linking videos on the Caf, when to see spoilers you need to do all the work yourself by clicking into Youtube rather than just playing the video in the thread, and go scrolling through comments. That's not anyone's fault but the person clicking through into Youtube and scrolling through comments. Nobody here can police Youtube comments, and Youtube comments weren't posted in the thread so it doesn't come near to breaking any spoiler rules.

Already been spoilers in the last page and a half on here anyway!

The show has caught up with the books on some storylines but not all of them. There's still storylines and characters that haven't been in the show yet that are in the books. As I got it spoiled by some ass clowns in this thread I decided to read up on them. @Pexbo I think the book thread is largely safe for the first dozen or so pages. I'd just be careful about reading the last third of the thread because of the above and since our Spoiler Police have abandoned ship, this thread has turned to shite. Don't read the last page.

Thanks very much, I'll have a gander now.

:( I tried, there was just too many of them damn it!

Need you on form. Love this thread (and all TV Show threads on the caf) but hate spoilers! Just like discussing the past episodes and even speculation of what to come with other people who are up to the same point as myself. There's just always some people who love spoiling.

There are lots of possible spoilers out there. I've read what is supposedly the entire story of season 6 - I took it with a huge pinch of salt of course, but would advise people to be as wary as possible.

I know! They're animals Tina! Animals!

As for Season 6, i'm excited to see where the story goes but i'm also very nervous about the writers taking over given they butchered parts of Season 5. Think i'll begin to rewatch from Season 3 onwards after Christmas.

Have they confirmed how many more seasons there'll be?

If there are only going to be a couple more seasons then maybe there'll be an added sense of momentum and focus from here on. Last season really was very weak so hopefully it improves.

The weak areas were the parts that the writers invented. That's what i'm concerned about.

Dorne was shit in the books also. Same for the Sand Snakes. The writers also invented Hardhome, and that's considered one of the best episodes of the entire series.
