Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Who is next on Brienne's hit-list?

The Hound ✓
Stannis ✓
Ramsey?
Roose?
The entire Bolton army?

Littlefinger?

He did attack her last time they met. Basically He-She Beast will murder all before her and rule the 7 kingdoms! ;)

Anyone else just hugely thankful noodlehair doesn't watch this show?

Jaime Lannister in the quiz. Glad I don't have a hot sister.

Just hope Eboue doesn't get Cersei...

Just finished watching and I enjoyed the whole season. Obviously silly as anything but kept me entertained. Some great set-pieces and Peter Dinklage and the girl who plays Arya Stark are always good to watch. That scene where she killed the creepy sadist was absolutely brutal.

I enjoyed this season too.

It obviously suffered from two huge issues though:

1. Reaching the bar set by previous seasons. If you're going to compare it to the previous four, then yes it wasn't as good but it's still very good by todays standards.
2. It's being adapted from the B*@ks, which haven't even been finished yet. It's going to be incredibly difficult to keep the storyline charging along at a good pace while still building characters and no doubt missing out huge plot devices while trying to steer the whole storyline on course and keep all the storylines along a linear path.

One thing I think this show could have really benefitted from is having a second show running alongside it (an animation) which can add depth to characters and storylines without adding huge costs to the budget like additional episodes would. They could have told more about the history of the houses, Brienne's life, Stannis' previous battles, Ned and Roberts earlier days, Littlefinger and Varys' early days, The Hound and The Mountain's former years, Cersi and Jamie, the Targaryens ect ect.

It's what they did to build the Matrix world back in the day. There was a huge amount of information about the history of the characters and the Matrix which really added to the sequels for anyone that actually watched them before hand.

YouTube Game of Thrones History and Lore, it's got videos taken from the Blu ray extras explaining all sorts.

So I started watching season 1 again and have just finished it. Didn't really get the criticism of the latest season until I watched the 1st season again and I realised the drop in quality. Shame Ned wasn't in it for longer because he is such a brilliant character. Also forgot how much of a cnut Jamie is.

I think only having 10 episodes a season can have its effect. With only 10 episodes to follow characters' and considering just how many characters' there are, its easy to lose track. I heard some people feeling sorry for Cersie after the last episode but given what she has done its just, the only problem being that because a lot of the worst shit she did being in season 1,2 and 3, people forget and its hard to keep track of just how much you are behind or against a character.

Reckon 13-15 episodes would have suited it better. Given how many main characters there are.

People would be complaining even more about "slow" episodes

Re-watched the ending :(

He gets stabbed 6 times. 6 mortal wounds.

How many times did Thoros of Myr bring back Dondarrion? 6.

People complained there were too many slow 'building' episodes at the beginning of the season and now complain it was too rushed at the end. People just like complaining.

6 stabs to the gut, tis' but a scratch compared to what has happened Dondarrion.

It'll leave a nasty scar but Jon will be fine.

I think its finding a balance, I think people have come to expect a major death in every episode because of the structure of the show. In ways people are expecting huge mind blowing deaths every episode but yet they complain that the characters are underdeveloped. Its a no win situation.

Personally, when it got popular around season 3, I think they should have gone to 13 episodes a season. I think knowing there is only 10 creates almost a panic in people that something important needs to happen because the amount of episode is deteriorating. Shame really.

Still can't forget his face when he sees the traitor sign. Genuinely brilliant acting. :(

I don't really see how those two things are mutually exclusive.

People seem to expect a Red Wedding every other episode but complain when characters get killed off.

They're not necessarily mutually exclusive. The basic complaint here is that the pacing of the show seems off, particularly noticeable this season when we had tedious sub plots seemingly designed to give certain characters some screen time.

I have no problem with slow building but a lot of the earlier eps this season were just awful with pointless moments and terrible acting and a few real terrible story lines
