Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Right up there with any of the other top lines that sit on the shelf below: "I understand that if any more words come pouring out your cnut mouth, I'm gonna have to eat every fecking chicken in this room."!

"If anyman dies with a clean sword, I'll rape his fecking corpse"
"Lot's of people name their swords" "Lot's of cnuts"
"I bet his hair is greasier than Joffrey's cnut"

I miss the hound.

I don't remember the first one but the last two are classics! I think the "Lots of cnuts" one was in the same episode as mine above! Must go back and rewatch that one!

I reckon he'll be back. If they don't show the dead body and preferably a decapitated head, they're coming back!

Yeah. I reckon the show has lost too many decent characters now.

I was thinking earlier today what a pair of cnuts I thought Cersei and Jamie were in season 1 but now I just don't really care any more. I think I've checked out of the story emotionally.

And the show writers seem to think that pairing up 2 odd characters = clever writing when it's just the exact opposite after being used again for the umpteenth time.

Needs something to turn it round big time imo.

I found it pretty implausible, and it felt like they wrote the whole scene on the back of a fag packet.

The Queen getting arrested is terrible for the crown, why would they let that happen? Especially when it came down to one blokes word... Why do it in front of Grandma Tyrell? Why wouldn't she just pull all their funding and whatever and ruin the Lannisters almost instantly? And why would Tommen just sit there?

To show just how terrible Tommen is as a king, nice kid, terrible ruler, they showed that when he went to visit the High Sparrow when he was praying. Why do it in front of Olenna? Because Cersei isn't nearly as clever as she thinks. They've mentioned that loads of times. She's banking Mace Tyrell to strike a deal with the Iron Bank of Braavos, once he does, which seems unlikely, Meryn Trant will probably off him.

So basically, her hubris leads her to believe that the Iron Bank will back the crown, thus they won't need the Tyrells. She hates them it would seem. In season 3 she asks Margery has she ever heard of the Reynes of Castermere, they were the second most powerful family in the Westerlands, 2nd only to the Lannisters, they rose up against the Lannisters and Tywin basically destroyed their lineage, completely ridding Westeros of House Reyne.

Again, when the Gold Cloaks went to draw their swords when Margery was being dragged away, Tommen raised his hand as to say sheathe them. Again, it's showing he's a weak king who's let KL be overran by religious zealots.

Always liked the dynamic between his and Arya's relationship. Rather than a captor-slave, it was more like a twisted uncle-niece. As the last episode showed, seems that Arya took a liking to him too.

No that sounds awful, this thread is for those who believe in a world where the books don't even exist. In fact people who even know how to read or write books are killed on sight.

I saw a post from someone in here yesterday highlighting some of the differences between the episodes aired so far and the books, they should have been threadbanned, exiled and then slaughtered.

But I triple-level spoiler tagged it to explain exactly what it was :(

Even she can't take herself seriously.

Think it's really missing Tywin and his awesome manipulation of King's Landing politics, which formed the base of the show. It's all gone a bit flat there now (see that trial for instance), and the other story-lines aren't really doing enough at the moment to hold it all together, bar maybe what's happening up north.

I'd agree. Arya's and Sansa's story lines are boring imo because they seem powerless. Snow is struggling with his new role, Tryrion is too far from the action and Danaerys has never been my favourite character. Alot of the more interesting characters seem to either be lost or underused. I'm still expecting the series to be brilliant. (That's just my opinion. Calm down, no need for thread banning , it's all cool, I've never read the books (or any book)).

I don't know what everyone's whinging about. It's calm before the storm stuff. Lots of chess pieces moving around and interesting dialogue.

At the wall they're Just about ready to kick off.

Ramsay is an absolute monster and how that pans out will be interesting, Sansa showed the bite we've been promised when dismissing his mistress.

Margery and her brother are in big trouble, which spells huge trouble for Cersi even if she's too dumb to realise it.

And Tyrion is just about to meet Daenerys. I might be wrong but I think she might quickly realise that he is exactly the councel she needs. He's a brilliant politician and tactician.

Ser Jorah has the stone aids thing.

Plenty of potential excitement has been teed up already...

Yer wan with the spear has previously been nominated for an Oscar?

Stone aids

Agree with you, sand snakes aside it hasnt been that bad.

Lots of chess pieces moving around = pairing up 2 odd ball characters for 8 episodes.

The trouble is the sub plots just aren't that interesting this season. Jorah getting stone aids is interesting? Yeah if a bloke rolling up his sleeve and looking at his wrist with a pained expression every episode is interesting I guess so.

Yeah, it's a definite clear drop in quality from the writing to the acting. I guess the tv writers are really taking over now.

I have never seen a TV show drop so dramatically in quality as this season

Its been fairly shite. And I loved all of last season

Well she would have done... had she not proceeded to look absolutely petrified as soon as the mistress left the room!

Well she had just been told the guy she's marrying hunted his former girlfriends with dogs.

Also, I think people are exaggerating the drop in quality. There has been a drop but when you lose scene stealing characters like Tywin, Oberyn and the Hound, the show is going to suffer a little.

It's not that the show has turned shite all of a sudden but when comparing to previous seasons, it feels like a big drop in standard... just hope it doesn't turn into Dexter. The show is missing Tywin massively as well as some other top characters that are gone and the decent characters that are still around don't have very strong storylines. Sansa is still a dumb piece of shit.

Yeah, as everyone is saying - Tywin is a gigantic loss to the show... and the most annoying thing is, his death really hasn't had any positive/interesting consequences. Tyrion would have been banished anyway (regardless of whether he killed his dad), Cerci could have had Jamie go off in secret to rescue Marcella, and we wouldn't have to feck about with this Tyrell storyline.

Imagine 2 seasons down the line with Tyrion coming back to Kings Landing with a dragon to take down Tywin...

Cersei is preaching about being gay, while she's the incest queen? I hope this blows right back into her face.

Well the king was born through incest love. If that doesnt end up blowing up in her face, then she is one lucky bitch lol

Christ I hadnt even thought about that angle. If Littlefinger or someone was in Kings Landing you can bet your arse he would have been having words with the High Sparrow about it.

I thought LF is in Kings Landing? He wont say anything about it now though, not unless its benefits him. He will probably hope Boltons and Stannis destroy each other, once that happens, Lannisters come in and pick up pieces. And then LF gets announced as warden of North (maybe) and then he will out Cersei, which puts Cersei, Jamie and the King in trouble

Yeah Littlefinger is one of the best villains left in the show. Playing everyone off against each other. Would probably make a decent King too tbf.

Will be interesting to see how he deals with Danerys though.

Lannister are done for I think. They're broke, have debts, Cersei is playing dangerous games and Jamie is away.

Certainly his endgame.

Happy days?

Can't see Littlefinger getting close, he gets away with the games he plays because he's not feared and not well known, going for the Iron Throne is a whole different level.

As for the Lannisters, them go away will make the show better I reckon, it will move things again.

The High Sparrow knows, a few eps back the Faith Militant were calling Tommen an abomination during his visit to the High Sparrow.

Does anyone pay attention to what goes on in this show or what? Majority of the complaints on this page and the previous are easily explained if you actually understand the overarching plot and characters. It seems people want everything spoon fed to them, "why would he/she/they do that? why would x/y/z go there".

It's all explained, it just hasn't been in your face, the show expects you know certain characters motivations/personalities etc by now.

This isn't directed at you, Walrus, just in general. Seems everyone is letting their dislike for the sand snakes skew their perception.

I must have missed/forgotten that bit.

It creates an interesting situation then where the High Sparrow/Faith Militant have a potential angle to screw over Cersei/Tommen as well as the Tyrells then.

It's not because she cares whether the Tyrell guy is gay or not. It's political.
