Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

If you can't distinguish between what was on the show and what you read elsewhere I don't think you should. I am not a mod though so it's just my opinion.
Good, ill just ignore you then and post sensibly.

What the hell happened to this thread? Can we just go back to talking about the show?

Anyone else found it weird that Melisandre wanted to sleep with Snow?
Why? Guy has got royal blood in him.

Good, ill just ignore you then and post sensibly.

Here is the policy for reference.

- spoiler tags do not need to be used if the episode has been shows on television anywhere in the world AND the thread title relates to the TV show in question.
- If you haven't watched the latest episode keep out of the thread. There are lots of places to check the broadcast dates of programs are e.g. TV.com and Wikipedia.
- Comment must relate to the show in the thread title. Post the ending of Breaking Bad in a Game of Thrones thread and you get a 5 point warning.
- Any and all comment related to future developments must be placed in spoiler tags.
- Only speculation that is both your own guess work AND only based on episodes that have already aired can be posted.
- Casting news for future episodes or series is also specifically prohibited.
- any and all information from the original source material e.g. book or graphic novel must be in a separate thread. This sort of material must neverbe posted in a thread about the TV version, even if spoilered, and failure to comply will result in an infraction.
- future developments are defined as anything that hasn't been shown in an episode on TV somewhere in the world.
- "Next week on ..." clips and trailers aren't considered to be part of an episode and should never be posted even in spoiler tags.

I've bolder relevant bits.

Regarding Melisandre:

In order for her to make that shadow assassin thing, she would need someone from the same bloodline to kill her target. Don't think she knows about Sansa and Arya though, which makes it interesting. I reckon she knows something about Jon though.

Where's that from? I thought she only needed royal blood, the three leeches was proof of that.

Who were the 3 names Melisandre pulled out from the fire in season 2? Was in Joffrey, Renley and Jon Snow? (Or was it Rob Stark?)

My memory is so crap when it comes to this show.

Rob Stark, Joffrey and im sure it was Reeks dad (lol)
All "fake kings".

Think it was on the show or I'm making it up. I haven't touched the books so it's not from there

It was Rob, the King of the North and usurper I believe. That was with bastard king blood and the leeches wasn't it?
Yea - that's the episode.
It definitely wasn't Jon. I think you're right with Rob. Wasn't it the three that were trying to become king ahead of Stannis?
I'm sure there's a scene where Melisandre and Stannis were discussing killing Jon Snow. I can't remember where or why...this is really going to bug me now. But yea, it was about the 3 who claimed the crown.

Thank you!

Does anyone find it odd that the Wildlings seem to have just settled down at Castle Black and not reacted to Mance's death?

Yes, but surely there's repercussions there. Maybe instead of going to Winterfell, JS rejoins the wildlings? Maybe they help defend the wall from the walkers?

Something has to happen though.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but Robb was never actually a king anyway was he? They called him one, but he never 'freed' the north.
He essentially called himself King of the North, and declared independence. The Alex Salmond of Westeros.

Yeah i can see them fighting alongside the Black Watch against the walkers. I just expected there to be some kind of outcry.

No problem, I wasn't implying you got the idea from elsewhere mate, just thought I'd missed something :)

Didn't think you were! I just think there's more to it then her simply trying to convince Snow of something. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, she always gets what she wants.

Yeah I think the marrying of magic in this series is a little jarring. Like people die who can clearly be brought back to life when it suits the writing. I know that's obvious to say, and magic is only just really returning because of the dragons, but that other priest was always bringing back the guy with the flaming swords before the dragons came back, so magic is clearly there. (I apologise for forgetting the names )

But yeah, whether or not that suddenly gives him and his family magic royal blood is completely up to where GRRM wants to take it I suppose. Jon is an unknown in that regards, but that possibly makes Sansa/Aria and the other two have royal blood power ;)

@GloryHunter07 if you've read the books you should refrain from pretty much any discussion about anything in here.
We were talking about the Wiki, of which i have read tiny bits.

All my posts have been 100% show related, which is why im in this thread trying to get it back on track.

Did she actually say he had Royal blood? Or just that he was a fake king?

At what episode is this meant to surpass the books? Will feel like a weight lifted off everyones shoulders I should imagine.

I might be totally wrong but from what I have heard the books timeline and the series timeline are quite different so I don't think it's as simple as it overtaking the linear story line.

Now somewhat.
The show has overtaken the book with sansa's storyline for instance and caught up with brans and more or less caught up with arya (maybe 1 more episode off?).
A bunch of other storylines have changed so much that they bear no real relation to the book at this point (quite possibly sansa's for instance?).

The books have more depth and breath i guess, which is a bit of an issue - it makes speculating easier.
Things that were cut from the show will probably show up at some point, in some form because its hard to imagine them not being relevant.

Some storylines have already been overtaken, other will probably drag on past the end of this season.

Even after that though book readers still probably shouldn't post much in this thread as we'll have had access to way more detailed information than the rest of ye. We might not know for sure what's gonna happen but our speculation would probably be too well informed for the TV show watchers to be happy.

Thoros brought Beric Dondarrion back to life after that fight. But yeah, it's so hard to remember all their names, I honestly struggle.

Here is that fight, quite a bit of magic here:

I'm not sure I get this wiki thing either, surely that spoils it too? Why would non book readers read that anyway? I try my hardest to stay well clear of all that, this thread and talking about theories is the only thing other than the show I watch/read. Though I feel we are getting borderline here with this
No it spoils nothing. There are two wikis, a wiki of game of thrones and a wiki of ice and fire. Obviously the latter is about books, but the former is simply everything about the show and nothing more. I read it to cover the details that are easily missed while watching the show.

Plus I am a huge fan of the history of this GoT world and the details of the history, how all the houses came about, all the wars, etc, so I tend to read about the past a lot. I've been reading about Robert's Rebellion since the time I started watching the show, and I have hoped since then that they make a spin off or something to show that at least, if not the other awesome events like Aegon's Conquest.

I just want to see Rhaegar being cast in the show, everytime you listen about him from other characters in the show, they seem to be in awe and he is the one who started the downfall of Targaryens, he is one of the biggest characters in this world, plus if the Battle at the Trident is shown then we will see Robert in his prime. These events are faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more interesting than the crap going on right now, if you ask me.

But this is all history and this only gets talked about in the show briefly, only when you have the likes of Barriston or some old git reminiscing about old days. Like that season 1 conversation between Robert, Jaime and Barriston about the time the Mad King got lost and this current chain of events started.

Yeah, I've said the whole rebellion would make a great prequel when GOT finishes.

Lastwolf has been thread banned.

In case people aren't clear, this fecking thread is only ever for discussing what's been aired. if you've read the books you basically shouldn't post here other than to say "I love Melisandre's tits" or whatever.
