Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Thought the episode started off slowly but boy did it pick up in the 2nd half. Kinda happy Greyjoy got caught again. I was thinking it would be funny if he was brought back to the same place and thats exactly what happened. But why did that guy bring him back after letting him go in the first place?

Obvious thing happened with Daenerys. She can speak Valyrian and also everyone predicted she was going to burn the master after getting her army. She is the one to look out for now. Brilliant finish to the episode. I think they have laid all the ground work for the season. Next 6 episodes hopefully will be epic. I want to see more of the white walkers though.

I was thinking the white walkers were going to crash the Nights watch's group. I mean they are marching towards them right? Or have I got the directions mixed up? Its the wall and beyond that is that man with his daughters and beyond that is where they came from right?

Far better episode than the first two. Now the season's begun.

At a guess he wanted to rise in status.

If Rob Stark dies, Sansa will be the next head of the House of Stark I think. Which is why both the Tyrells and Littlefinger are courting her.

Brilliant episode. Pretty much every single scene was fantastic.

What benefit is that to the Tyrells? Marge is going to be queen anyway isn't she? Or does it just stop Littlefinger from rising up?
Do we reckon she is actually quite nice or it's all with an agenda? I can see her turning nasty.

I was a bit gutted for Theon, even though he's a rum 'un.

I hope she remains nice and sweet - would be a welcomed change to all the other backstabbers in the show. I doubt it tough, she does seem quite vicious underneath.

The Tyrells would then be Wardens of the North and South. It'd make them the most formidable House in Westeros.

Holy fecking shit, that final five/six minutes was immense, probably one of the best scenes to date in the entire show.

What an episode. What a fecking show.

Yeah as previously predicted, it was predictable but still good to see Daen take control of the situation. And now with a real army she can really start to make her move.

What happened at the daughter-fecking bastard's lair? I get why some of them were upset but why did they kill the old leader guy? And why did he say he was coming after Piggly?

In the first episode of this season it opens up with Samwell being asked if he'd sent the ravens to get help. This is after a battle where the Night's Watch lost a lot of men (which we know because of the Warg that the wildings were talking to who saw a load of dead 'crows'). During the episode Sam collapses and one of the Night's Watch wants to leave him there to die because he's a feck up. Commander Mormont stands up for Sam and says that if Sam dies so does the guy who wanted to leave him.

The guy who was owned by Mormont used the opportunity to kill him, I assume because he wants to do a runner .

Correct, And the mother seems a bit irritated with being the house of the golden rose. Seems she might want to be someone of power (or more power). I'm guessing they're playing both sides here.

Good episode but I am still a bit confused on the whole Nights Watch civil war. Was it just as simple as they always take the dregs of society and this is now showing up? No men of character?

She's actually Margaery's grandmother, 'Queen of Thorns' - mother to Mace Tyrell, ruler of House Tyrell of Highgarden.

Like you said, most of the people who make up the Nightswatch are the dregs of society. Their mutiny makes sense when you see the effect of the danger of the Walkers, they were starving and at the mercy of Craster, they were disgruntled that Commander Mormont had put them in a dangerous position by marching beyond the wall on a suicide mission.

I'm in love with khaleesi. But reading these comments makes me realise I don't have a single clue what half the character names are.

But khaleesi is easier for me to remember and type.

You've got it basically right. Beyond the Wall is where Craster and the wildlings live. Craster lives relatively close to the Wall though. The walkers come from somewhere beyond the wall and beyond even the wildlings realms, but no one is really sure where. What is seemingly apparent is that the white walkers will eventually head south as winter descends on Westeros.

One of the best episodes over the three seasons so far I'd say. That last scene was really, really well done, but even without it the rest of the episode was quality. I'm glad they took the time to set things up in the first two episodes, the last two have really been able to pick up the pace.

Im not getting properly into this season. The Khaleesi story line was painfully obvious. Its not great TV at all when you can see it coming 2 episodes away. I dislike when people are overly stupid. Only a complete Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime would give up his entire army to someone who clearly dislikes him. Completely unlikely and at the same time ultra-predictable. It would have been a lot better if she actually gave up the dragon and left with the army instead of all that bollocks at the end.

The best parts to me are the politics side with littlefinger, that bald guy, tyrion etc. Also enjoy the Joffrey - Margaery stuff. She is gorgeous. I thought she looked really weird first time she appeared but she just gets more and more beautiful.

I'm pretty sure the whole point of that was to make the guy look really stupid. The slave masters are all obviously driven by wealth and as such are incredibly greedy to the point of absolute idiocy. He was there thinking "feck bitches, I gots myself a dragon. Ain't nobody gonna feck with me and my crew now", and then Daenerys fecked his little fantasy up with an impromptu barbecue.

Well it wouldnt have made the slightest bit of sense for her to give away a dragon. Instead it showed that shes now strong enough to manipulate a situation and take control. This is obviously so that she can do it again when her army marches to war, instead of just suddenly having the ability to lead them when the situation calls for it. We now already know she can.

It would have been a lot better if she actually gave up the dragon and left with the army instead of all that bollocks at the end.

No, that would have been a lot more dull (and pretty stupid too).

This shows Khaleesi can be the ruthless leader necessary to sit on the iron throne.

Fantastic episode.

Thought Theon was a right cnut last season but I'm feeling sorry for him now. Who is the psycho holding him?

Love how Margaery is taking control of everything in Kings Landing to further her own ambitions. I think Cersei will end up trying to kill her.

Didn't expect the implosion of the Night's Watch, should work in favour of the Wildlings when they attack the wall.

I expected Daenerys to sack the city when she got the army but it was still cool seeing her be ruthless whilst also being caring (not harming kids, freeing the slaves). I like this version of her and want to see more of her, whereas when she was in Qarth I wanted her to die. She looks in great shape to take on Joffrey and win.

The old Tyrell woman is brilliant  The lack of White Walkers 4 episodes in is getting a bit annoying.

How would he know she dislikes him when he has no idea she speaks Valyrian? Also, you have to take into account the people he would regularly do business with by his suggestion that she should sack a few cities to break them in and sell the prisoners back to him. The regular clients are in favour of slavery and help him get new recruits. Why would he suspect a double cross? And also, he was getting a dragon. Who wouldn't lose their head?

No one's said anything about where the white walkers are. All that's been shown is that the NW fought them in a battle, lost and the survivors took refuge at Craster's which is on the way back to the Wall. Oh and they strung some horses around in a pattern and the survivors are now wights. The end.

The whole buying of armies thing. I get that it is a work of fiction and I'm willing to suspend some disbelief with dragons and sorcerers and shit but they really need to work out the details of the transactions. It really has the potential to drag the show down and crater it.

Reading the comments here, I realise I have no clue as to who any of the characters are. I know hardly any of the names and any of the other stuff that gets talked about. It's been a good start to the series so far though, I'm liking the girl who's to marry Joffrey.

Pretty sure it's the Bolton House is it not?

I'm basing that on the fact that their banner is a man tied to the X (see the video at ~7mins), just like Theon has been the whole time whilst captured. He's upside down on the banner, but it's pretty similar...

It's the Whitewalkers that'll attack the wall isn't it?
Are the Wildlings and the Whitewalkers enemies?

Well they arent exactly allies. I thought everyone was scared of the white walkers.

Just wasn't sure if we'd ever heard them mention the Whitewalkers.
I suspect the Wildlings will take advantage of the winter too though.

By the way, does winter ever actually come? Or is the whole story set just before it? A simple yay or nay would suffice (via PM if necessary).

Well played Eboue. Not sure what that 2nd picture is about though

I love it

This bitch with the dragons looks like she is out to cause mayhem.

'Cos the old leader guy was going to kill one of them and they were all hungry and shit and just wanted a bite to eat. What I don't get is why they didn't just kill the daughter fecker anyway. Why was he so important to the old leader guy?

Because lord commander Mormont was a man of honour. The daughter fecker was a bad person, but he offered a place to stay and food for the Nightwatch. In the second season, Mormont mentioned that he was a friend of Nightwatch and he never refused to let the rangers stay in his some. Killing him in his house wasn't an option for a man of honour and for one of the few members of Nightwatch who weren't the scum of Westeros.

It's the Whitewalkers that'll attack the wall isn't it?
Are the Wildlings and the Whitewalkers enemies?

The wildlings are human who just aren't members of the kingdom. The Whitewalkers from the first two seasons seems to not be humans and kill everything in their way.
