You can see he wants to get invloved and i'm just looking forward to seeing more from the fella. An exciting prospect.

I think the biggest problem he has from the very little we've seen of him is his positioning away from the ball. He tends to run around the team mate who has the ball. I've seen him confusing Evra a couple of times with his movement off the ball.

no he doesn't

yes actually he does. if he is on a long dribble, it doesn't look convincing like a 17 year old ronaldo, who was wiry/small then as well.

not sure if he's just not a graceful player or if it is a nerves thing.

still have high hopes for the lad though. i think he can develop very well given the chance.

That's exactly how I play the PES game in "become a legend".

He did that a couple of times against Everton, but in previous matches his off-the-ball movement was one of his most impressive features. Constantly seemed to be available in space.

No. He does not.

Actually quite surprised that, despite many posters commenting on his talent, there is some negativity towards Obertan. He's not started a single game for the first team yet, but his cameos have been very impressive. Despite having so little time in which to impress, he's shown a lot of promise. He's a class above reserve level as demonstrated by his first game for us in a red shirt, which is encouraging given how long he's been injured for.

Can't wait to see more of him, to be honest. I'm not saying he's set the world alight obviously, but he already looks a good option to have in the team.

I would like him to take more risks. He seems to go for the safe option too much, cmon man you're sposed to be young and brash!

It is pretty stupid to do now that you're new in one of the biggest clubs in the world. It's not like playing for Aston Villa. One stupid thing and you might end up like Kleberson, Taibi, DjembaX2.
He look pretty taken by the fact that he's playing infront of +70 000 fans, and watching those Youtubes you realise there's much more to come if he can adapt to the league and the speed. Playing in England means you have to be able to do what you did before 3 times faster and you have to be ready to accept getting you legs chopped off if you think you're going to challange someone from standing still. Ronaldo learned his lesson and became the best player in the world. Nani is not getting the idea and is not developing. Give Obertan a season to get into the right mood and grow some balls. It makes the difference.

No thanks. More of the same for me please. It's refreshing to have a fast, tricky winger who almost never wastes possession. He's always quick to release the ball to a team-mate in a better position. This is a good thing.

Agreed. The fact that he doesn't attempt the most extravagant option at every opportunity is what make me believe he's a fairly impressive youngster. He's years ahead of Nani in this aspect, whilst also having the pace and short passing ability to be a threat.

I can't see him not making it here.

I've no idea if he's going to be special, but I can't see him not making it as a first teamer here. He picks up very intelligent positions, he picks his moments to take a man on well and he passes it very usefully, and those are three attributes that can take you far in any attacking position.

He's defensively very naive though, IMO.

Agreed.

And he is incredibly agile in tight situations around the box, meaning he'll have the best of chances to work his way into position for the return passes when he gives and goes.

Magical feet at times <3

I'd really like him to get a game in a full strength team. Maybe as soon as against Portsmouth. He looks quality.

Reminds me of Ribery in his ease at completing passes, whether they were easy ones or not. Its all very natural and part of his flow. He almost always finds a team mate, which isnt the usual with young pacy wingers.

Such a languid dribbling style, he can pass a man so easily, something he needs to do a bit more of, few more big game cameos, cup runs this season will do him the world of good.

He just ouses class.... I just hope he fullfills potential!!

I say give him a start at the weekend.

I agree. I can't see why we should wait, he can't be worse than Nani surely. Get him back on the bench if he doesn' perform, but there's a perfect opportunity against Portsmouth. He looks ready.

A lot of plus points to come out that game for him. Has great pace, very elegant on the ball, pulls out the odd trick at the right moment, usually seems to work. His passing seems very accurate. Worked hard for the ball and always tried to win it back the odd time he lost it.

His crosses leaves a lot to be desired on the other side. His crosses all seemed a bit 'hit and hope.'

Like i said in the match day thread, he has a very unique style, and head.

Thought he had one or two good crosses at the start of the match when we were buzzing, but after that they were dissappointing. Thats not unusual for our wingers though unfortunately.

His final ball could have been better at times, and he needs to figure out the defensive side of the game, but he did some really good things tonight. He wouldn't be the first young winger to struggle with delivering consistently.

Definately looks like he has something about him when he plays, and a great head on him when it comes to passing at the right moments for one so raw.

Actually he is very reminiscent of a young Ronaldo, possibly 2002 or 2003.

He did very well today, probably needs to improve a bit on his crossing, but his running style and fleet-footed ability have been on display today.

Definately, 100m% sure he's not in any way comparable to Chris Eagles the Watford flop.

Great pace and skills, good attitude. I like his run and quick release of ball to his teammates. Just a bit raw at times and need to do some working on his final ball.

Still searching for optimum fitness clearly, but has all the ingredients for us to work with, needs to get some real confidence and not let his head drop, seems to be a bit of a thinker

He's very promising but I'm unsure whether he's going to be ready to make a big impact this season. However, he has shown enough to merit an opportunity to make a case for himself; I'd much rather he play on the left than the right.

I'd like to see him start the Carling cup game, then Wolfsburg, then Wolves, then Hull. If it isn't happening for him in the two premiership games then take him off after 55 mins or so. Have him on the bench for the other matches: Portsmouth, West Ham, Villa and Fulham. He doesn't look fit enough to start more than one game a week.

Again he just looks like he has it, he does difficult things with relative ease, and looks so natural on the ball. Impressed from the first time i have seen him and he has done nothing to change that so far, even if he is a bit way from the finished product. The only guy until paddy came on who looked like creating something. As a side note, how much do we miss evras attacking play? Would be great to see him get ninety against portsmouth, however i cant see it with the cc coming up next week.
