Spot on post. There is reason to be positive and to discuss this. It's also noteworthy Obertan used a good balance of both feet in the highlight. Again encouraging signs.

Unlike Valencia, who is worryingly very single footed.

good little cameo once again, shows he a direct winger and links up nicely with Evra, gets the ball and gets at the fullbacks straight away, his passing was decent, also some nice runs off the ball.

Promising for the lad and he looks like our most natural outlet for the wings. This will get interesting once he's at full fitness and has been training for a sustained period. I think he's lacking a yard or so of pace so theres more to come ....

cuts inside and passes, I think our players will like that a lot instead of the regular crosses that come from the wings.

They don't even fecking look the same, but Obertan reminds me of a beefed up Vin Diesel.

I wouldn't start him though, surely too soon.

He has to start at the bridge

When I said people taking things too far earlier in this thread. This is what U meant.

He deserves a spot on the bench, not a starting berth in a top of the table clash.

Yeah, going to Stamford Bridge and playing 442 does not seem like the best idea right now.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Obertan, Berbatov and Rooney playing together in a 443 (not that it's likely to happen this weekend). I think it could really work as they all have terrific awareness and technical ability.

Also, Obertan stretches defences with his speed and choice of runs, something which will give Berba and Rooney that little bit more space to operate in, something that HAS been missed since the days of Ronaldo's double marking.

I'd rather have Van der Sar in goal please.

To be fair though he would be a better option than Nani at this point. Far less wasteful and direct, which is required. Also adds the unknown factor into out attack and gives Chelsea something new to worry about.

The caf is going mad. He's just recovered from a bad injury, had a disappointing debut against Barnsley and 2 cameo appearances and yet you want him to start the game against Chelsea?

This is getting Ober the top now.

2 things:

Obertan was very lucky not to be sent off for that one

The handball incident most probably was a penalty

I've been a long time supporter of Nani but i honestly think Obertan is very close in taking his spot now. The priority list for the left wing, for me, is:

Giggs
Obertan
Nani

He has so much flair and most importantly he releases the ball far more often than Nani, which in turn helps add to the flow of our attack. Nani should be used as an impact sub instead, i don't think he's good enough to play the full 90 at the moment and he hates being taken off anyways. Give him 30-40 minutes and use him to replace a tiring Valencia instead.

I have high hopes for Obertan. I don't think he necessarily NEEDS to bulk up, but it would probably help him greatly as he could shrug off defenders while blowing by them, and hopefully develop a dangerous shot as well.

Stomped by Obie.

I wonder what possessed him to do something like this. Do we have a psycho on our hands. That right there looked like something a serial killer will do:lol:
Now, I find it hilarious, lucky Uefa does not use video evidence:nervous:

That's pretty random.

And right infront of the ref as well, in fact I think the ref bottled it. It was a red card stuff right there.
I want to watch the game again from when Obertan came on to see if the guy did something to him. Or did he hit Obertan face just after he passed?

Semberas elbowed him in the chest so he kicked him back and he was dead right I prefer to see a lad stand up for himself and show a bit of fire rather than lie on the ground crying about it for 5 minutes.

Every time he laid a ball off he was getting blocked off by a defender out of the ref's eyeline so there was a bit of frustration there.

He was lucky the ref or linesman didn't see it though or he would have been sent off.

I mean do it if you want to prove a point, but be a bit subtle about it. But since I missed it, I guess it was subtle enough enh?

So he has the tricks of Ronnie and what looks like the petulance too! I think we have a future world beater on our hands :D

This is not petulance to me, it looks more like, "you have come to my house and want to feck with with me? Take that you twat". Yep, that is what it looks like

Not very clever though is it?

I'm sure SAF will have had a word, the lad looks like an exciting prospect - don't really want him getting sent off on a regular basis!
