Very impressive stuff tonight. Kept it largely simple and largely effective. Thought the CSKA players looked instantly petrified of him as though he has a reputation that precedes him.

Shocked he was let go for so cheap, regardless of the alleged 'mental weakness', because he's got plenty of potential.

Would like to see how he does when the game's not as stretched as it was, and he's got less space to work in.

Somewhat like Valencia I think we'll see the best of him when he grows into the team. At times both need a little more belief in themselves. You see it alot with younger players especially when joining a club of the size of United. I still think Obertans future wont be as a winger, although in our version of 442 with Berba and Rooney dropping back we'll see him play through the middle aswell.

feck me just saw Aguero's first against chelsea

Don't be silly. If he plays against Chelsea (and he almost certainly won't) it will be instead of the winger he replaced.

Wouldn't have thought Macheda would be starting against Chelsea anyways...

I'd love to see this at Chelsea...

VDS
Nev Brown Evans Evra
Carrick Fletcher Anderson
Obertan Berbatov Rooney

O'Shea in for Neviller as he's banned and hopefully Vidic in for Brown and then that would be my preferred choice as well.

Skipping past defenders for fun at the end there. Looked dangerous every time he got the ball, I was disappointed he didn't get it more often. Evra was willing to feed him but Rooney wasn't looking for him at all. Understandable, but I just had the feeling he would create something, whether it was a cahnce for himself or someone else. Great cameo.

oh yeah, forgot about Nev...

is Vidic fit? if so, i apologise for omitting him.

Not sure, Martin Tyler said Vidic is likely to be able to make it for Sunday but who knows how much he really knows.

But that front six is exactly what I would want particularly in Midfield. We're not strong enough to take down Chelsea with a classic 442.

Very good impact when he came on. Think it helped us massively in those last twenty minutes that Obertan and Evra provided a threat down the left wing, allowing a little more space for Valencia, Neville and Brown to own CSKA down that right wing.

There's no way i'd personally go with Obertan over valencia on Sunday.

I haven't read anything yet and saw what the general consensus is on Obertans performance tonight but it wasn't anywhere near enough to suggest we drop Valencia who is getting better all the time in a United shirt with a lad who's still finding his feet.

See, youtube videos are brilliant for forming an opinion on a player - you could just tell there was something about him.

He just seems to effortlessly glide with the ball at full pace, more so than any of the other players we have.

Nothing out of this world today, but Nani was so awful in the first half that he made Obertan look decent.

To be fair, Obertan had Evra alongside him not Fabio...

Not really Top, because the interplay, the simple but effective way he keeps the ball etc.. you can only get from watching him live, videos can be very deceptive taken on their own merits.

Nonsense, I'm an expert in judging a player's ability from the way he runs, and Obertan's running style is sexy.

As is Krasic's by the way.

he is one of the few players in our squad with invention and craft, yes he's raw and inexperienced but so was ronaldo in the early days. Id much rather play him than nani.

Obertan's running style is very Henry-esque...

he pleases me, good close control, skillful and has awareness plus pace, I'd play him ahead of Nani any day of the week

Plech doesn't rate him so he might end up having a good career.

I like this lad.

He looks more like what a winger is supposed to be like.

He keeps things simple because he's settling in.I cannot wait for a few months to see him try more ambitious stuff as he surely will.He has it in his game to create space with his dribbling and pace

I like the look of him. . . even his oddly shaped head.

I personally think it looks better on Nani...
