Not in terms of the sitters no

Maybe I'm being pessimistic in terms of how he did on his debut today but I'd rather be that than someone who suggests he'll be this and he'll be that and he can do this and that a look like a fool if in 2 years time if he's playing in the Scottish First Division

Hey fingers crossed he surprises everyone and turns out to be brilliant

The chances he missed weren't good but it's all a learning process. Henry, ronaldo weren't born natural strikers. If he applies himself and practices a lot then he'll improve. How much? That's the real question. He 'seems' to have a lot going for him.

Also top, top players miss chances all the time. Owen in the 94th minute today? Sitter and worse then Obertans as we know he has the quality and should be scoring those

Nani did nothing, literally nothing, of note in his entire time on the pitch today. I honestly can't think of a single cross, shot, pass, run or anything constructive he contributed.

Obertan shouldn't be compared with him anyway. Big difference between what we should expect from someone in his third year at the club and someone in his first 15 minutes.

I think the reason you cant think of anything because everything he does he screws up at the end so every time he gets on the ball you switch off

I can remember a shot right at the start of the game (probably the first shot of the game) I can also remember a couple of over hit and under hit crosses but there's also times when he had the ball and playing the right ball would of created and opportunity and he messed them up as well

Nani had moments this evening when had the end product been of the standard it should be would of created something

He had two good through balls for Evra, but then that was about it, yes.

Nani made a decent run forward and played a good pass in behind for Rooney to run onto and cross for the Berbatov disallowed goal. He also won loads of freekicks in fairly dangerous areas.

Yeah, that's probably a fair summary and Nani frustrates the shit out of me, so I do tend to be harsh on him.

Comparing him and Obertan in today's game is unfair because the game was so much more open in the last 10 minutes but you've got to give Obertan credit for getting into several really good positions, including getting to the byline a few times and skinning his man at least once - while Nani achieved neither of these things in the previous hour.

Jesus christ you can't even make a comparison like that since Obertan came on when United were already 1-0 up and Blackburn started to attack after that which opened up space for our attackers that wasn't there earlier in the match when Blackburn were defending with 10 men.

Too much sense for the caf

Good point. Forgot about that.

Nani was involved in at least one constructive bit of football in his time on the pitch. That's it though.

Well and good winning free-kicks but when you take them yourself and the delivery is dire it kind of undermines your contribution.

I mentioned this in the Nani thread but he was fouled an awful lot today which I think meant he didnt get chance to show much. Chimbonda was lucky to stay on the pitch today in my honest opinion. I agree with you generally though.

Pretty easy to come on when you are 1-0 up against a shite, and tired team which parked the bus until we scored.

Obertan looks promising but I wasnt too impressed by him today, should really have scored and running off the field with the ball isnt the best way neither, but I think he was just nervous.

I agree. But it was dire when everyone else was taking them too.

 football fans... what a bunch of blinkered spackers

This is what he did:

Ran the ball out of play for no reason
Played two, possibly three crosses straight into the first man from promising positions
Missed a good chance
Missed an absolute sitter
Gave an unnecessary free-kick away

That's it. Yes he 'found space'... er, it was the last twenty minutes of a game against a crap team desperate for an equaliser.

He's probably a good player, but he was clearly absolutely terrible today.

I hope this helps

This.

Me and my mates were absolutely pissing ourselves laughing at how shit he was. Bring back David Bellion!

Tha fact that some guys are saying how good he was tonight (their words, not mine!) shows how weak the current wingers in this United side are. In my view he wasn't impressive at all. Very, very raw and looked startled tonight. As for someone commenting that he looked fast.........????

First sensible post in this thread.
And people comparing his and Nani's contribution to the game today must be either on a WUM or just a bit thick.

No, it only says somthing about the person posting it.

Exactly, and for the record bar Nanis final ball today he wasnt that bad

Ok i'm going to say it, Nani would have finished the chances Obertan got.

 I think you do have a point, but lets not pretend Nani hasnt missed good chances as well. I think realistically we could expect that Nani would have scored one of them and fluffed the other.

Well I also think that he was pretty bad today.
Not as shit as many people are saying but it was one of his weaker games for us this season for sure.

But it was a typical Nani game, has a lot of the ball, gets into threatening positions (usually after beating his man) but picks out the wrong pass - other than the last part hes been ok, i think its because people only tend to remember the final pass he gets slated.

But this is a Obertan thread so i dont want to hijack it.

I like him, he played on the pitch today exactly like the way i play Pro Evo. Brilliance mixed with idiocy (the amount of times i've ran the ball off the pitch) all at a blistering pace.

opinions but he is fast. How much have you actually seen of him? He was signed for his potential. You won't see the end product just yet if that's what your expecting soapy

Funny first dribble

Wasn't as fast as reports would have you believe and he seems to play Danny's role... Needs to pick up his head more and pick the pass rather than hitting a softy in the middle. Also needs to wear some shooting boots next outing.

We'll see. All I can say is Park better get fit soon!!!!

Looked awful in a very promising way, I thought.

I agree.

He is very raw, has speed but runs and plays like a drunk giraffe on LSD. He actually played better without the ball today. He was tracking back and cutting the angles down well considering it was his first game.

The debut was aight, nothing unbelievable as some would want you to believe but he's done well

It wasn't his debut

I thought it was a promising, eventful 25 minutes or so he had. Things happened around him. Ok he dribbled the ball out under no pressure and missed a couple of sitters... but he was in the right place a lot of the time, and he did drive forward with the ball. He looks like he could be a useful player if he develops nicely and gets a bit more confidence. He's a bit of an ugly duckling footballer. I love him

Old Trafford debut

Ferguson awarded a Premier League debut to Gabriel Obertan on Saturday, with the Frenchman keen to make a positive impression following a summer switch from Bordeaux.

He spurned a glorious opportunity to mark his top flight bow with a goal, scuffing wide of the post when it appeared easier to score.

Ferguson, though, is confident that the young midfielder will prove to be a shrewd acquisition in the long run.

"Gabriel was a bit nervous when he came on," he said.

"It was only his second game in seven months, so you have to put it in perspective.

"But then he settled down and did well. He is not happy with himself and that is a good thing."

I love it. Over the summer all the reports were saying he's a forward. He misses a few chances and now they consider him a midfielder.

15 fecking minutes..15, yet you'd think he'd blown his old trafford career within minutes. Ridiculous some of the reactions in this thread.
