Gabriel Jesus - United and others apparently meet release clause

15 goals in 54 games is shit for a striker. In quite a few of those hightlights it looks like he playing as the furthest forward attacker. Thats pretty average mate. Whats the point in paying 24 mil for a player who is as good as someone we already have just because he can do a few flicks.. Neymar scored 50 or so in 100 or so gamed before he got a move to Barca. Do we need to sign another average Brazilian? No.
Neymar did indeed score 53 in 104 league games for santos
And an overall return of of 136 in 225
Yet his first 48 games he scored 14 goals
Not that different to this kids 52 games 15 goals
Also this kid has scored 8 goals in 15 games (when he has played more as the striker) in 2016... Not a bad return
It may be a valid point that Neymar did it over a longer period... But with backhanders etc he cost a bomb so there is logic in getting in early (if the scouts rate him that highly and we think we can blag a work permit)

Looks like there are a few "average" players tearing up Europe at the moment despite their "shit" goalscoring ratios when they were young.

Gabriel Jesus 15 goals in his first 54 games, 0.28 goals per game
Leo Messi 26 goals in his first 70 games, 0.37 goals per game
Neymar 14 goals in his first 48 games, 0.29 goals per game
Luis Suarez 20 goals in his first 60 games, 0.33 goals per game
Christiano Ronaldo 11 goals in his first 71 games, 0.16 goals per game
Wayne Rooney 17 goals in his first 77 games, 0.22 goals per game
Anthony Martial 14 goals in his first 63 games, 0.22 goals per game
Zlatan Ibrahimovic 17 goals in his first 47 games, 0.36 goals per game
Paulo Dybala 20 goals in his first 66 games, 0.30 goals per game
Antoine Griezmann 6 goals in his first 40 games, 0.15 goals per game
Marcus Rashford 7 goals in his first 14 games, 0.50 goals per game

Good post. I think this comfortably puts Green_Red's theory to bed.

From some of the players mentioned above, here are the same players in their first 54 games:

I wonder how many others in the caf have seen this guy play live. I saw him play three games at the U20 WC.

What position does he play? Would be perfect if he's a right winger and douglas costa type player to play out there for us as we need someone like that especially on the right. Heard good things though. Pace, loads of talent and trickery, the type we need.

So what's your opinion of him then?
I was mostly wanting to see how Pereira played because he is a utd player. Pereira had moments of absolute genius, pure brilliance but also some really poor stuff so wasnt consistent. By the end of the tournament I thought Gabriel Jesus was Brazils best player. I remember him being really pissed off when he got subbed off in one game but mostly that he was clever, exciting and consistently among Brazils best players.

I agree with that but I think leave him there for another season see how he goes

Nowadays it is for a club like United.
We get nearly £100million a season from the new TV deal. Around £20mill from our league finish, £55mill from Chevrolet, £75mill from Adidas then you have all the noodles and tractor deals blah blah blah. That's before you even start talking about money from ticket sales and merchandise. 10 years ago £18million (his release clause according to this article) might have been a big deal but it really isn't anymore. We pay just under that much to Rooney each season to play for us.

very good post

posters are so ignorant nowdays.. 20mil for a big promise is a steal
palmeiras fecked up on the release clause

Bayern have arguably the best squad in the world and possibly three of the best young players.

My god.

Basically how I feel as well.

Hopefully we pick up one of this new crop of wonder kid attackers, although it's 2 down and Sane seems more likely to go to City or to Bayern next summer. That club is a monster, it's squad is not only in top class peak, they are laying the groundwork fore the next team.

Basically what we should have done back in 2009 *sighs*

Yep, we twice failed to do that, ten years apart. I think we thought we were doing it prior to 2009 when we bought Nani and Anderson, but it didn't quite pan out as hoped.

He looks like some player, I'd rather sign him over Griezmann given his age and his ability and composure is something special.

The club should atleast make an approach.

We should absolutely sign him. If anything, he can be our angel and redeemer.

Hope he joins Bayern, if he join us, he will get Rolls Royce and whores, two years later, he can't complete a 2 yard pass. Better join Bayern for his own career.

Damn it Bayern and their great German efficiency steal another potentially great player.

Thank feck Bayern weren't in this sort of mood when we signed Martial.

Maybe they were and just dint want to pay the money.
Great signing for them if they get it done.
As they did for Sanchez. Either way they didn't go all out for him (if they did at all) the way we did, or they did for Sanchez this summer.

Oh FFS, cant they be restricted to buying just one talent per year? They have some depth in their squad

How the feck will they even give him game time? Robben, Ribery, Costa, Coman. That's 4 options already.
