That might not be as negative as we need it to be.
I believe FDJ started off as a CB and moved to CDM later with Ajax.
His agent and/or lawyer should still have been on the ball there. It's not like FDJ does his own paperwork, and when dealing with that sort of money you make sure to cover all the bases. To be fair to Frenkie, i really don't think he ever envisioned a situation where he'd be booted out after doing all he could to help the club when they really needed it.
He obviously thought that they valued him and wanted him for the long haul.
"If Laporta serves you a empty dish its because the fat feck has already eaten your meal" - SAF
And Gareth Bale started as LB and moved onwards to LW. Like feck is playing LB now. That might not be as negative as we need it to be.

Of course, but he’s the player. It’s his agent/legal team etc who is hired and paid the money to think about the nasty things/when things go wrong. They kind of… didn’t?To be fair to Frenkie, i really don't think he ever envisioned a situation where he'd be booted out after doing all he could to help the club when they really needed it.

Just fecking leave you smug faced german WW2 soldier looking cnut.
Another muppet rings the bell
It's a shame, so close to the finish too...
They're basically telling him that he's not got a future in his preferred position and Xavi likes him as a CB... except they're bring in another CB too. So not only will he have competition in CM but also CB too. It’s very negative let’s be honest. Especially when they are signing Kounde.
De Jong is a CM. It’s a World Cup year. It can’t possibly be any more negative. They are clearly forcing him out.

It's forcing him out without actually saying we're forcing you out. They're basically saying no matter where you play, you're second best and will be fighting it out as a rotation player
Yes of course it’s not a good sign for FDJ. But it comes down to how much desire he has to stay at Barca. It’s very negative let’s be honest. Especially when they are signing Kounde.

and I don't mean flutter our eyelashes at Martial
Don't lie.

bloody hell. This is like calling Seamus Coleman a London based sweetcorn importer/exporter.Just fecking leave you smug faced german WW2 soldier looking cnut.
“Xavi killed a guy with a trident!”In the words of Ron Burgundy "boy, that escalated quickly".
But also very accurate
I doubt United are paying much of that up front. De Jong would still be saleable in future seasons too, so not as if selling him is a case of now or never.I can think of 85 million reasons.

If he gets moved to CB but gets told he’ll start most games, he may be accepting of it.
Mascherano went there having solely played CDM for most of his career and ended up being Barca’s first choice CB.
It’s obviously not looking promising for FDJ but it all comes down to how much he’s willing to compromise from a footballing perspective.

maybe it’s not that bad for him: if he doesn’t leave then registration of Kounde might become problematic - in which case he will actually sometimes play as a CBexcept they're bring in another CB too. So not only will he have competition in CM but also CB too.
Yeah it doesn’t look promising at all for him. It’s also a huge gamble Barca are taking by planning on FDJ leaving and then bringing in new players. Their highest paid player could be a guy who sits on the bench this season. They are signing Kounde? He isn’t first choice. They also got Christensen and Garcia. He’s been on the bench twice in pre season. You move someone to a new position and plan to build around them then don’t play them and sign a new CB?
Super reaching here!
exactly. This has got to be driven home. FDJ's new contract says nothing about "owed wages ". There may be "loosely implied contract language". Foolishly, FDJ/his team never assumed Barca would look to sell to get out of those payments literally a year later.
Thats what i think a lot of people are missing in his, Barcelona legally owe FDJ nothing. There is no agreement over "deferred wages". He simply signed a new contract with the implied idea that big wages over the life of the contract was a "payback" of wages. There will be absolutely no wording in the contract that Barcelona owe him outstanding wages.
Always rated Sport high journalism standards
I got shouted down for arguing this a month or so ago. His agent has terribly advised him.Given buying and selling footballers is pretty fecking fundamental in the game, I can’t believe a clause wasn’t inserted into the new contract to resolve this exact issue should he be sold during the course of the contract.
Well it's a WC year, I don't see anyone risking their place in the WC to give a club that doesn't want them the middle finger.FDJ does have the power here, it’s just that he might not be shameless enough to use it. Barca can make a fool of him but if FDJ decided to ignore that and keep picking up the cash Barca couldn’t do a thing about it. I do suspect that he will leave and take a lesser payoff but that would be because he decided to accept it, not because Barca had some sort of master stroke.
Almost wish I didn’t have a vested interest in this one because another part of me would find it absolutely hilarious if Barca couldn’t register their new players

Omg, they used the words “IF he stays at Barca”. It’s the most positive news they’ve ever come out with!
The key aspect has always been if De Jong stays he triggers 4 years of huge payments of 20 million each so the ball is back in Barca's court, do they miss out on a transfer fee of 70-80 million and start paying Frenkie 20 mill a year or agree to pay him what he was supposed to earn in the last two years. All De Jong has to do is say firmly I'm staying and Barca will have to pay him off most or all as it will be lesser than if he stays.
Yes it was stupid of him and his agent, especially as I remember speculation around his role and not quite being the player they thought. It can be used in such a underway to weasel out of paying but Barca are forced into action if he just stays and takes a firm stance.
Where are you seeing that he’s legally owed nothing?exactly. This has got to be driven home. FDJ's new contract says nothing about "owed wages ". There may be "loosely implied contract language". Why do people do this? Why would we imagine he’s anything other than immense?Imagine if he’s shit after all this.
