All this talk about living in Manchester…. he wouldn’t would he if he joined United - he’d live in leafy Cheshire which can hardly be described as ugly!!

The city of Manchester is not as beautiful as Florence but it certainly has its charm. Especially if you read up on its history. Doing that usually gives you much more respect for your surroundings.

Panic on the streets of Barca
Panic on the streets of Salford
I wonder to myself
Could life ever be sane again?
The Catalan side-streets that you slip down
I wonder to myself

Hopes may rise on twitter
But transfer muppets, you're not safe here
So you run down to the safety of the ‘caf.

Hang blessed Laporta
Because the BS that he constantly spouts
It says nothing to me about Frenkie
Come and Play for ten Hag
Because the football he is trying to play
On the Manc side-streets that you slip down
Make sure to run don’t just jog 'round

Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Frenkie DJ, Frenkie DJ
Not bad but “let me see de Jong” to the theme of Xisco’s Thong Song is better

Unless this whole thing is a ploy from Barcelona to prove to FDJ that he is expendable, so he'd better take a pay reduction down to a mere €150k per week....?!?!
Not sure what his wages would be if he took a pay cut though as I've read that the amount they want him on would be more than a 50% cut which is illegal in Spain

He should just chuck a Bale and go full villian. Forget a reduction, ask for a raise, refuse to leave, cause Barca to go into administration

RIP Mino Raiola. One thing I know if he was Frenkie’ agent. 1 that contract would never have been signed and 2 they would of gave him back every €.

I respect the muppets still engaged in this one but I'm sad to say that I'm out.
You rung the bell. For you that means you go home to get a nice meal and a good sleep. Sadly that means you have not achieved muppetdom, the level of the muppet. Feel free to reapply next year. Good luck quitter

It's a good reminder for anyone negotiating their pay. Companies don't care about you. They want you to work for the least amount possible and will do everything they can to minimize what they pay.

Even City and Pool didn't give Pep/Klopp full control early on, they identified targets for them to sign. A manager has to earn the right to have that much control. We let managers come in and pick whoever they want straight away. I'm not doubting that ETH can be a great manager for us but we have no idea yet if he will be.

Anyway, the point isn't whether Frenkie is a great player, so well done on missing that completely. It's whether it's worth spending all summer on a potentially fruitless pursuit and ignoring other targets we could've actually gotten in before the season began.

I'd have to dig in the Klopp/Pep full control, although a point could be made about the state of City's team.
Klopp wasnt allowed to purchase players he desired?

Ah yes, the old "other targets" argument.

Not wanting to sound like a broken record, but, who are those other targets you and all the other speak of?

FdJ is our best chance.
And that's only because of two things.
1. He has a past with our manager.
2. Barcelona are in money problems.

That's it.

All of the "other targets" are even worse to acquire.
Neves? We would get fleeced even worse.
Tielemans? Not nearly good enough.
Sangare? Watch us scream "oh noou more dutch players"
Laimer? Off to Bayern with ease.

And to answer your question - yes, it's worth spending all summer.

I agree. It's all about how much money they can save for themselves. It's the same with any business, get the best you can for the least possible and rely on loyalty and the sorts to achieve that.

Yup, helping your employer out of kindness might come back to haunt you.

I couldn’t agree more. Barca are an absolute disgrace.

The other targets should be identified by our scouting network based on their suitably to the team and squad and how we want to play going forward, that's what pretty much every other big club does.

I don't recall Klopp or Pep being given the go ahead when they first joined to try sign a former player of theirs at whatever cost and ignore other possibilities, do you?

Anyway, we disagree. We'll see if he was worth spending the wholes summer trying to get. i.e. if we actually do get him.

What's the record of pages for a transfer here ? 899 pages for someone who hates Manchester, the PL and considers TenHag his personnal enemy

i was confident this is going to happen.......and I STILL AM!

All aboard the FDJ express!! Choo Choo!!

I was against the concept at first, but the more the negative stories come out about him not wanting to come, the more im starting to feel that we wouldn't have come this far if he just told ETH that from the start. Or at any point.

I really don't think we would you know. It would be pointless and time consuming for all involved. EtH definitely wants him and de Jong must be intrigued and happy to come or we'd definitely have walked away.

If it turned out he never had any intention of coming, then the whole club needs to be held accountable. I just don't think EtH would risk pissing the board off in his first window

I'm thinking of walking away..... from walking away. ITS ON
