If United sign Frenkie and Martinez , will they go for a striker , cdm and winger or is that unlikely?

and here’s Romano with another “I know everything that’s happening” non-update.

It’s such a strange stance, if he’s not reducing his salary Barca are selling him, but he doesn’t want to leave, but doesn’t want to stay enough to reduce his salary.

If we sign Frenkie and Martinez, and we assume Eriksen is done too — I think the last signing will be an attacker.

Anything more would be down to player sales first

If United sign those two (plus Eriksen), they are probably finished for the summer.

Any further purchases would likely have to be funded with sales (Telles, AWB, Martial, Jones, & Bailly probably most likely).

Journalist bullshit a lot of that. Obviously FdJ want to get what his owed before leaving. Will happen this week.

It isn't. He can stay without reducing his salary. That would simply be honouring his current contract. Barça will definitely not like that and will probably do all they can to make Frenkie de Jong out as the villain even though he's not. If Frenkie doesn't want to leave they can't force him.

Pep loves to keep the ball, KdB loves the hollywood… they worked it out.

Bruno doesn’t have learning disabilities, if ETH demands he keeps the ball more, he has the technique to do so.
It’s possible, but there is one fundamental difference to KDB and Fernandes — the former carries and dribbles with the ball to top 95th plus percentile standard, the latter is bottom 6th percentile for dribbles. It means De Bruyne is able to play in different areas of the field a bit more comfortably as he has the dribbling and the ability to run with the ball, whereas Bruno is very much a pass first try and do anything else later — which limits him massively in able to do much else.

It will be an easy answer, Barca are his dream club and he will say ManUtd is the PL club he supported when he was kid, watching players like VdS, RVN, RVP.
I’d also say I have a point to prove too. I’m sure he’ll come round eventually, I’ll offer to buy him a drink in Factory and he’ll forget all about Barcelona.

This seems lost on most in this thread.

Hopefully once this gets done we can have a flurry of signings to beef up the squad. Seeing the travelling squad written down is painful
This time last season it was hailed as our best squad in forever by most. Granted we lost a few players, but most of them didn’t really contribute much last year anyway.
I think it’ll be Eriksen, deJong, Martinez and a forward - in that order. I hope that’s flurry enough for you.;)

Because Eriksen might fit ETH's football more than Bruno?

Bruno excels in a counter team, and keeping possesion is not something he is good at. He will have to adapt. Its not crazy to suggest it might take him a season to get used to this new playing style(just like how City's players take time to adapt to Pep). I'm not saying Bruno is a bad player, or he wont be first choice.

Eriksen, VdB and De Jong all know possession football very well.

Yesterday’s Training Drill definitely supports most of these views that our midfield will be FDJ, DVB, Bruno or Eriksen however can’t see us buying Antony at the figures quoted so I can imagine a team where both Bruno and Eriksen play together in some games and Eriksen is deployed as a right winger /playmaker but higher up the pitch than Bruno, especially if Sancho does not find form quickly. If he signs Lisandro Martinez as well don’t be surprised if we see a more traditional double pivot midfield rather than a number 6/8 hybrid, and two 8/10 hybrids which is an incredibly offensive midfield. If these signing are a made then Scott may be sold pretty quickly as he actually holds decent value.

The moment Frenkie publically or privately proclaims he wants to leave Barca, he loses his leverage on Barca in his negotiation for his deferred payments.

This deal is going to happen. There's not even one ounce of doubt in my mind.

It's not if but when he signs.

Its not strange at all. Firstly there is no chance that we are waiting on Frenkie to decide if he will join us since June. We aren't stupid enough to spend big money on transfer and wages for a player who is basically not happy to come to United.

Barca are just in a shitty place where they are probably going to have to pay Frenkie a large sum of money they could potentially avoid and they are dragging it out to see if Frenkie or United blink and mitigate those losses. I can't see Frenkie dropping any of his demands because they have treated him like a cnut. Pleading poverty and trying to get out of paying him wages he should have already been paid while at the same time tapping up over £100m of new players. And United know that Barca really want to sell and seem happy to let Barca stew.

We've gone from deal agreed to our offer being insufficient in less than 12 hours.

The photos of Arnold and Murtough, plus Goldbridge in his 'Frenkie Goes to Manchester' T Shirt are going to be meme level for a long time if this doesn't happen now. That Arnold and Murtough photo will have the same level of shame as the three amigos photo from the Ander Herrera deal.

They seem to be confusing euros and pounds. I'm fairly certain the fee has always been 85m euros. 65m euros fixed, 20m euros in add ons. So £55m + £17m add ons.
That was the prevailing formula/model that was mentioned for a while now. I think some of the folks are still be paying in sterling for items priced in euros while visiting the continent.

No journalist has a full picture to what’s happening…

I know we are shit and naive in negotiating deals but we can’t be that stupid to negotiate a fees before we know the player is open to move? Or can we be?
