First reliable/semi reliable source saying this. If this is his genuine stance after all the effort we've put in maybe it is time we moved on as we can't keep wasting time.
Nobody can say Utd didn't try their hardest to get this deal done but dragging this transfer longer without having a plan B lined up would be foolish. This muppet is about to throw in the towel

I also refuse to believe that it would be his agent that gave ten Hag the assurances that he'll join without actually asking de Jong first!
If that was the case, i'd say he won't be his agent for very much longer. Thats how much these guys know. They assume because it gets them money

Duncan Castles a reliable source?? The bald twat can be reliable for Mourinho/Mendes information, but for anything else United related, not a prayer.
He knew the Ronaldo stuff because, by all accounts, he brown noses Mendes and allows Mendes to use his tongue as toilet paper

So basically his entire face is covered in Mendes’ faeces? Tough gig.
 
So many red flags on this one. A very very good player of course but I'm hoping more and more that we move on.
 
This is the most tedious transfer saga ever. Closely followed by the Fabregas, Thiago and Snejder sagas.

I remember him being one of if not the very first to be correct about Ole's sacking.
Mendes clients are his strong suit but he has decent sources within England and Europe too.

If you wanna believe what he says as the absolute truth, thats fine. But it'd make no sense for United to push for the player if they hadn't had any assurances from de Jong himself that he'd want to come if the chance arose
 
I wonder how much this only wanting to play for Barcelona schtick is related to the money he’s owed, perhaps he can’t really say anything else in in case it weakens his claims

It sounds far fetched, but as shambolic as we are as a club I can’t see even us hanging on for a player who is repeatedly saying he doesn’t want to leave his current club.
 
Not sure what to believe at this point.

Who are the alternatives to Frenkie if he's not coming? Obviously they won't be the profile of player he is so do we go and get someone like Neves or Tielemans..
 
Tielemans in final year of deal so he is available. Wolves need to raise funds so surely Neves is available.

I reckon De Jong happens but I reckon it happens on deadline day
 
Yeah let’s move on. Thought this was happening but clearly isn’t. We’re going through a horrible transition and are not going to attract current world class players in their prime at the moment. We need players that want to play and fight for this club.

He isn’t even world class, that’s how bad this is. No other side are interested in someone who hasn’t lived up to expectations at Barca except for a manager who thinks they’re bffs

Since when? Xavi and Barca havent been happy with his performances. He’s getting the Pogba excuses of being played out of position etc but those are reasons why he is underperforming, not that he’s world class.
This is the problem with Utd fans and transfer targets, we blow them up into super players like this.

There’s just no way in a million years Ten Hag is that stupid, I refuse to believe a manager who’s done so well in his career hasn’t had assurances directly from his former player that he’s extremely interested in the move.

Would he prefer to stay at Barça and get paid the money he is due for the next 4 years, no doubt, but that isn’t ever what this story/transfer has been about.

He has to say to Barça that his intention is to stay, and his intention is not to renegotiate his wages, so Castles gives us zero new information here.

Put it this way, if I’m his agent I’m telling him to tell Ten Hag he is interested and to tell Barça he’s 100% staying and on his contracted terms. That puts Barça in exactly the position he needs them to be in, desperately trying to find a solution to that stance, which at this point involves them offering to pay out much of his deferred wages from the past two seasons.

What I don't understand is if that has always been his belief, why didn't he just indicate that to his former boss and let United move on?

I mean, Barcelona's "Prestige" is they are currently broke, and they only won their first European Cup in 1992 and it might be some time before they do again.

Whatever, he doesn't want to come? Don't come.
