Him joining Chelsea would be a proper kick in the balls. Even more so then when Thiago joined Bayern after we chased him all summer long.

Romero posted this

Which got reported as this

Romero seemingly to me doesn't mention De Jong.

We dont know if De Jong will be discussed, I guess we have to wait. Chelsea have more problems to fix before signing a midfielder. But if they are willing to pay more than our 85m euros, then fair enough for them.

Though i am starting to wonder why your lot had to fly to Spain when Barca are the ones who are buying your players. The buyer should always be going to the seller, no? Unless your new owners are very hands on

Not really. I've done sales for years and I've made a million trips to prospective clients.

Also, any excuse for a long weekend in Barcelona.

Just really weird they're saying Romero mentioned De Jong when he clearly hasn't.

I'm assuming he's also going on holiday there? Why would he fly there personally for those two?
Spotify Nou Camp is currently being used to host a few weddings for an extra couple squid, Todd’s going to use it for an event after

Here's what a Chelsea journalist has to say about Todd Boehly's arrival at Barcelona:

he has absolutely no knowledge of the goings on at Chelsea. He is a copy/paste merchant

Never ever reports anything until someone else has first...

I read Behdad Eghbali is apparently there, too. Whether true ive no idea.

I'd honestly rather spend £30-40m on Tielemans with money to spare for another signing than £70m (on extraordinary wages at that) on a reticent De Jong.

In that case, I'd like to know who he copy/pastes. From what I've seen, he'd report on different bits of news before any of the well-known journalists would.

I’m going to a wedding tomorrow, last time I went to a wedding was the day that we had the breakthrough news from RMC (I think it was) that the varane deal was agreed.

So basically, something will happen tomorrow and it better not just be that my fecking cousin gets married.

Very strange to have a billionaire owner flying to Barcelona himself and negotiating for what are essentially a couple of backups/squad players. That couldn’t have been handled via FaceTime or WhatsApp?

I know he’s technically also our “interim Sporting Director,” but surely there are some other people around him that could’ve handled Azpi/Alonso negotiations.

Basically find any sort of "news" re. Chelsea, and within 10-15mins he will act like he is confirming they are correct, and has all the inside info. Matt Law is probably the one to wait for. Not Nathan Gissing haha

Its Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

Tbh your window has been bizarre so wouldn’t be that odd really.

The new owner seems a total amateur

Brokelona can't afford to send someone over

He's not from a football background is he? He might just not know or want to do things differently etc.

I've noticed the opposite from his recent activity (unless he's reporting off of ITKs). Otherwise, he wouldn't be working under Di Marzio.

Quite incredible how Barcelona have so many deals already agreed but can't register any of the players Alonso, Azpill, Lewandowski, Raphinha how deep does the rabbit hole go what's even going on

I remember when Griezmann's salary got leaked and it was discovered he was on 600k a week, what in the hell happened

Then again you dont follow our news as close as we do, obviously. Never breaks anything first, never has inside scoop. Him and Simon Phillips are just wafflers.

Why are players still signing for them? The feck?

Boehly is essentially the acting sporting director at Chelsea right now.

I see but I mean Zoom, E-Mails, conference-calls would do the job until you've reached an agreement on the price no? Then it's the lawyer's and agent's job. This seems a bit over the top.

Would be a bit over the top for de Jong too. When everything can be done as you say, what would be the point.

I'm just shocked at how Barca just keep signing players when they're in the deep shit already

I suspect this Chelsea noise is just Barca trying to force us to put in more money, and get the deal done before Chelsea snap him up.

I think the pull of ETH will really help with this one.

I know that reports are saying he doesn't want to leave Barca, but I think two things are going on here. 1 he needs to get those unpaid wages, and staying around (or at least threatening to stay around) will more likely increase the chances of Barca paying up. 2 if the deal falls through, he won't want the Barca fans hating him. At this point he hasn't done anything to piss them off.

Surely it'll get done eventually, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is pushed out on purpose so that the next set of levers are in place and they get more of the sale money

From Ducker's article an hour ago, no mention of Chelsea:

Christian Eriksen has agreed to join United but the Denmark playmaker will have to pass a medical before joining up with the squad. United are also in talks with Barcelona to sign Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong and with Ajax over Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez and Brazil winger Antony.
