The interest in Dest has been there for quite a while now. I suppose we’ll see if the FDJ interest is real soon enough. When Portuguese media reported Chelsea’s interest in Nunes, Ben Jacobs who has been very close to Chelsea stuff this year almost immediately rubbished it. I find it odd that none of the Chelsea or UK journalists have rubbished it or corroborated this FDJ stuff. We usually get one or the other when a brand new link appears out of nowhere.

If Boehly is meeting with Barca today then I’d imagine there will be updates on this De Jong thing tomorrow, or this evening.

It’s an odd one. Reports suggest De Jong has given United his word and tonight his agent is in London with United to get this sorted.

Then you have a Chelsea delegation with Barca discussing Azip and Alonso (and maybe FDJ)

Either way looks like United are the preference and much further along. It will be interesting to see what happens but could easily be smoke and mirrors to force United to pay more towards these deferred wages.

There IS no team in place to do these things yet. That’s why he’s taking charge and the reporting is that Tuchel has huge say in the targets we pursue.

So it’s not like Boehly is just going on a coke binge and and chasing players without consulting with the coach.

I think it’s a safe bet to say there’s been an enquiry about De Jong during the meeting given it was mentioned some time ago that Chelsea were monitoring the deal incase it broke down.

Other news tonight had the players agent with United to make it happen as De Jong wants to go to United if he’s on the move.

Does feel like Barca are using Chelsea to push United to pay these deferred wages tbh.

I don't follow many of their journalists that closely, but I keep my tabs on them more than most United fans. I agree on Simon Phillips, but if that was the case with Gissing, then I'm surprised that he isn't reporting names like Dest and de Jong, then. Surely they'd give him more engagement than just Azpilicueta and Alonso. Still, you are right in that he functions more like an aggregator getting his info from other sources, but he doesn't necessarily pick up every story that involves Chelsea.
 
Dream signing but I honestly couldn’t be bothered with checking to see what the updates are anymore. We are sign him or we don’t, just going to wait for some official word. I hope the end result is barca getting screwed somehow.

He works under Di Marzio, yeah. He writes English articles for them, but his Tweets have also been retweeted by Di Marzio himself. Di Marzio doesn't do that with any other journalist/aggregator.

Marina, Cech, and everyone else associated with transfers is gone. Think they’re still available for advice and consulting for a little while but are not actively involved.

New sporting director will surely be appointed at some point in the near future.

No wonder you’re making slower progress than us this window. Must be near impossible to do more than one deal with some, like this United and FDJ one, taking weeks of negotiations. Obviously TB can’t dedicate himself to that.

i think he just types up the English articles. Then again, I am not entirely sure on that one. But he most certainly is not ITK, has no sources. He is so in the loop he knew absolutely sod all about the Sterling news yesterday, knew nothing about Raphinha deal accepted, nothing about Rudi or AC definitely going. But suddenly soon as a few other journos report it as "breaking news", he has all the info. Or does the classic "I can confirm that Matt Law is correct and Player X is close to joining Chelsea".

Stick him straight on your "ignore" list, and Simon "I am told" Phillips. Still re. tonights news, I still find it a little interesting that Eghbali has also travelled, the Clearlake co-owner

I just love the fact that the CEO just walks into a room to hash out a deal. Refreshingly American when you compare the status quo of both clubs hiring intermediaries and doing an elaborate dance before anyone from either clubs meets in person.
 
Barca knew Boehly was coming for a meeting so they probably leaked the 'Chelsea want FDJ' story in advance through their journos who in turn met the Chelsea owner at the airport to fuel the rumours even more.

I love how everyone is in a flap about this even though no one but those very close to Barca have reported Chelsea interest. No one in the UK has reported anything, no one has even acknowledged it.

As United did when teams used our names to further a sale/interest Chelsea are staying quiet, likely to avoid being drawn into anything. They MAY have had interest or to an extent still do, but nothing to the point of bidding, but Barca will still use that to fleece United

Matt law and Ben Jacobs both are reliable and accurate in chelsea related news especially Ben Jacobs since chelsea were sanctioned.
 
Isn’t Kovacic quite similar in his role for Chelsea? Can’t see FdJ being a priority when they have no CBs or a striker.

Funnily enough, he wasn't even that involved in the baseball business. He was merely a minority owner with the Dodgers and wasn't actively working in the franchise, so all of this is basically new to him.

Fair enough. I’ll feel a bit less twitchy if there’s no mention on the English side in the next 24-48 hours. Right now I’m on edge and fearing the worst!
