This only works, if Bayern doesn't extend his contract for another year in 2023.
Actually he has to play a year longer to earn the same amount. Doesn't look like a smart deal to me.
He could also get a loyalty bonus at Bayern and then a signing on fee after his next, shorter contract

2 years on 24m or 4 years on 16m which do you take? Its obviously different when you are 33 than when you are 27

I think you are arguing a nonpoint, to be honest.
I didn't say he was offered his differed payments for loyalty. I'm saying he was given a further pay rise on top of his differed payments as a reward for differing his payments.
Fair enough

I'm only going by whats reported. To be honest I think Bayern will sell for close to that amount, he has 1 year left. Issue is Barca do not have the funds yet

Bayern already officially rejected Barcelona's bid of 40 million Euro plus 7 million Euro add-ons.

How long will we continue with this if they are unwilling to negotiate at all I wonder? We must have set a deadline cause we need to buy a midfielder before the window? End of July perhaps.

Convinced this isn’t happening now. God knows who the plan B is.
You'll know within the next 24 hours If it's off I'd say. A brief will be coming or reports that the deal is off will be emerging soon if it truly is.

Until then, we don't know

I genuinely don't know if this is all brinkmanship or whatever, but I'd be inclined to pick up the phone, thank them for wasting two months of our lives and tell them that out of respect for their decision, we'll shop elsewhere instead.
FDJ is safe with you, and we won't bother you anymore.
End of, unless you call us.

I think that we at least have to be prepared to walk away, otherwise this one could still be in limbo up to the final day...

We're simply holding tight till they have sorted out the finances and can pay De Jong what he's owned I imagine

I agree we should just give up and walk away.

Yeah makes sense. But only if Bayern extend for a single year @Cassidy

That was what the person asked hence my response.
Its unlikely Bayern extend him on the same money for more than the next 2 years anyway, he'll be 35 by then, and the reason we are here with Lewan is because they were actively looking to replace him anyway

Lewandowski got an offer for 3 years only, not 4 years. That's at least reported everywhere here in Germany.

Why, from how it sounds as far as United are concerned things are going well.

Ok so 24 x2 = 16x3 doesn't it? Bare in mind he is already aware Bayern were actively trying to replace him before his contract was up

This will obviously happen. Barca will make the best deal possible for them and we will do the same. Was not going to be a quick ride this one.

Absolutely nothing suggests that

It would be a much better situation if it were any other club. But this is Barca we are talking about. Probably the most unprofessional club these days. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they back out or demand more at a later point.

I hope we are still in this because there is genuinely some progress in negotiations happening.

So, am I understanding this right..

If he stays there, they’ll force him to take a massive pay cut and forego a shit load of money owed to him?

Things are going so swimmingly well that the president of Barca has twice said that the player isn't for sale, and I don't know how many times the player has said he wants to stay in Barcelona.
If you have insider knowledge, then hats off to you...;)

That was made up by the press. Bayern never really negotiated with Haaland. The Haaland package was just insane money.

Salihamidciz only met Haaland once when he was in Munich anyway for a medical. That's all. Bayern never spoke to his agent.

Laporta is a bullshitter mate. Well known.

I think Simon Stone posted that article just to demonstrate how ridiculous the situation is from the Barcelona side.

’We‘re not selling him but we have an agreement to sell him’
