Interesting that the BBC update from last week regarding the base fee is still the only real UK update. Lot of noise from Spain as Laporta tries to squeeze him for cash, but all the UK reports are still rehashing the BBC arty. Even Reddys latest tweet posted earlier is a reworded BBC update. I wonder if the next real update from the UK side will be the final one(yay or nay).

To go a week with no UK update means we haven't moved on. No credible UK journo is holding that story for a week or more.

Yeah has reached an impasse since all the fee agreed stuff in the media last Tuesday

Oh ok sure and this is essentially the same story Simon Stone had on a BBC "live update". So I consider this (BBC and Whitwell) to be the only real update in a week from the UK side. Since then, nothing but rehashing. Which then leads me to conclude the next big update is going to be huge in this saga and also that we haven't walked away as no way BBC or Whitwell keep that story for over a week.

All in all, still positive but the next credible journo update is going to be huge, imo.
 
Setting my alarm for Romano's update in the morning. It's fascinating how he can use so many characters to say so little so consistently.
 
Really seems like no steps forward have been made. Still the same situation as a week ago. Of course it can partly be explained by the fact that they're still discusing add ons. Normally this should take not more than a few hours, but as reports suggest that the add ons will be pretty large (20m euro's), it does make sense that the negotations regarding the conditions for the add ons take some more time. However it does seem to drag out a little now. Although obviously I have no clue what's really happening, it does look like Barcelona is stalling and hoping United will at some point be done waiting and just offer a better deal than they want right now. Barcelona saying Frenkie can still stay really looks like a smokescreen.

De Jong Update: Manchester United are so so keen, transfer is very very very very close, just the add ons remaining to be sorted and personal terms. ETH and Frenkie have spoken over the phone, Frenkie wants to stay but doesn't want to take a pay cut so a high chance he will join Manchester United. Laporte will sit down and try to convince FDJ to take a paycut, If he chooses the paycut he will stay.

Every day he finds a new way to say that the fee breakdown isn't agreed upon and there are no talks with the player but it's close.

I know there is a lot of the Caf that sees this as Di Maria 2.0, Sneijder, Ramos, Ronaldinho, etc. The fact is that non-Brits who already reside in Spain and play for Barca or Real aren’t delighted to come and play football in Manchester.

I feel like there are other options out there that don’t come with the risks that FDJ could potentially bring.
 
Oddly isn't the 65m euro fixed reportedly supposed to be agreed, and the structure of the remaining 22m in variables what is left?
 
FDJ and Dybala. Seems like a Jose/Ed Woodward summer. Maybe they’ll be class but I have my doubts about it and how squad morale will be if things don’t work out. Maybe Dybala is the clubs attempt to keep Ronadlo happy?

Edit : I still want us to sign FDJ. I think he’s class.
