What a waste of time reading or posting in this thread.
Everything is based on rumour, speculation and the opinions of journo's and ITK's.

ETH wants FDJ and sees him as a key addition to the squad - speculation
Utd have negotiated and agreed a basic fee with Barcelona - speculation and rumour
Barca definitely need to sell - speculation based other financial situation

FDJ doesn't want to leave Barca - fact, he's said so to the press
Xavi wants him to stay - fact, he said so to the press
Laporta repeats he's not for sale (even if that's bluffing) - fact, as seen in last weeks interview

Romano doing a tail spin and changing the narrative ?

All I've learned from this thread is that 2 + 2 = 6 , because there's an extra hidden 2 somewhere between the lines and your daft if you can't see it !

Yeah, I alluded to this too when it came out that his agent was owed something too
I am not an expert on this but us agreeing to take on all or a significant portion of his deferred wage would be quite a bit more valuable to them (in terms of salary cap) than random competition-based variables.

They are most likely trying to get as much as they possibly can and we are most likely and rightly trying to pay as little as possible, hence the drawn-out negotiations.

Do you honestly see us doing that
What difference does it make to us if the add ons portion of the deal are covering his wages. It seems to be fairly important to them though.

What a clown

confirmation that they can't register Kessie and Christensen for the league yet.

so, there'll simply have to be movement with this transfer soon. Barcelona can't do shite without the money.

No what they need to do is sell the remaining 15% of TV rights, which probably then allows them a better bargaining position with United on the addons
Also I think its already been pointed out that its better for them to wait for this to happen prior to the sale, so they can actually use the funds from the transfer. If not then they can't use all of the funds

At that point, they can sign players but still can't register them though as far as I'm aware. Makes little difference really.

I'd imagine that he tracks everytime there is a flight from London to Barcelona

Dearie me, what a mess to get in! They have to be one of the worst run clubs in the world financially. Offering these terms and bonuses knowing that you might struggle to pay them.
Also to multiple players.

Griezmann was arguably the worst one. As they paid the release clause it was paid on one up-front installment then agreed to pay him 600k a week :wenger:

I’m starting to think this move will probably happen. My concern is the reports that FDJ wants to stay at Barca. Do we honestly want a player whose heads still in Spain? Hopefully I’m wrong.

Honestly I think this point is massively overplayed. I know we've been burnt before with Di Maria who probably didn't want to come but I see this differently for FDJ.

While I agree he would probably prefer to stay at Barcelona the reality seems to be that they are open and would probably prefer him to leave for financial reasons.

Even though FDJ may prefer to stay at Barca I would expect ETH to know him well enough on a personal level to know if moving would impact his level of dedication or performance. Also players have professional pride so I'm sure he would try his best regardless of if he had to make a move he'd prefer not to make. Also consider he will more than likely have some dutch compatriots to help him settle in and you'd imagine mutual respect between him and ETH to want to do well.

Marca published the details of his contract with barcelona and because of the deferred payments he's about to become WAY too expensive for them to keep(upwards of 20M € a year in wages)

Yet they still want to sign Raphinha and Lewansowski... Good job Barca
Yes but they’re lowering wages to under 10m or something stupid. So instead of spending 20m on one player they can spend 10m on two.
It’s the Jason McAteer pizza story all over again.

Due to the way the Spanish FFP works when they activate their second economical lever they would be able to register them and also other incoming players.
But what happens if they can't activate that lever until after the window closes?

But they'd still owe the deferred payment, if they sell him or not

I imagine they'd try to either forgo or reduce those payments. Either way it's like 15M they owe him over the last 2 seasons in deferred payments, significantly less than the 21, 27, 18, 23 millions they owe him over the remaining years of contract

For anyone that haven't seen it...

I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps saying he wants to stay so that they don't try and cheat him out of the loyalty bonus. They are already continually trying to alter narratives around him and this transfer and I am sure a few players have had issues with the payments owed by Barca and the club trying to paint players as being disloyal for not renouncing wages, etc. Mes que un club!
