Barcelona is negotiating with United for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong . The departure of the Dutchman is not a sporting issue, the reason is economic since the Barça club will have to pay a lot of money to the footballer in the four seasons that remain on his contract. In total, Barcelona has to pay 88.58 million for the fixed salary and the loyalty bonuses that he has in his contract. Variables worth 8 million (two for each year) could be added to this amount if he plays 60% of the games and a maximum of 12.8 (3.2 per year) for titles won or enter the final of the Champions League, as contemplated in the footballer's contract to which MARCA has had access.
Fixed, deferral and bonus
There are three main reasons why these numbers are so high. In the first place, the footballer's fixed salary that was stipulated at 14 million euros when he signed in 2019 for Barcelona. Second, the deferred payments due to the pandemic of that fixed. De Jong renounced an important part of his salary that he would recover in the following seasons. And, finally, the loyalty bonuses that he has in his contract that add up to a total of 15.58 million euros.
Next seasons
The deferral of payments together with the loyalty bonuses means that in the next two seasons the global amount to be received by the player will rise a lot. If last season he received nine million fixed, the next one will directly charge double for this concept. In addition, he will receive a bonus of almost three million and would go in total to almost 21 million. The 23/24 is the one with the record because he will receive 27.7 million fixed and bonus . These figures could be increased with the variables.
