It was widely reported that he is negotiating with Barca to sort out the salary issues.
Really? I don't recall seeing that. However I do recall seeing Fab say a pay cut is very unlikely to be accepted.

I think you need to stay away from pages like indykaila or these BS ITKs

Maybe his agent is trying to get some sort of assurance that the large amounts of "back pay" will be paid at some time.
Truth, Trust, Laporta and Barca are not words you will often see in one sentence
Does he need assurances he sue them otherwise

Is anyone else not bothered about this transfer anymore at this stage, or am I alone?

I wouldn't say I'm not bothered, but not getting caught up in it or reading every tweet now, to me its obvious it's going to happen, not wasting my time overreacting to every little bit of news and non-news that keeps coming out.

They are such a scummy club leaking his contract out today
Just building to the narrative of Barca or money.

They're just a scummy club in general, offer a player ridiculous money to join then say you need to take a salary deferral or cut because we can't pay you.

they way they put pressure on their own players to reduce their salary for the good of the club (while they turn around and sign new players to fat contracts) and make them scapegoats if they don't just go along is truly disgusting. Pathetic club.

For anyone that haven't seen it...
Barcelona is negotiating with United for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong . The departure of the Dutchman is not a sporting issue, the reason is economic since the Barça club will have to pay a lot of money to the footballer in the four seasons that remain on his contract. In total, Barcelona has to pay 88.58 million for the fixed salary and the loyalty bonuses that he has in his contract. Variables worth 8 million (two for each year) could be added to this amount if he plays 60% of the games and a maximum of 12.8 (3.2 per year) for titles won or enter the final of the Champions League, as contemplated in the footballer's contract to which MARCA has had access.

Fixed, deferral and bonus
There are three main reasons why these numbers are so high. In the first place, the footballer's fixed salary that was stipulated at 14 million euros when he signed in 2019 for Barcelona. Second, the deferred payments due to the pandemic of that fixed. De Jong renounced an important part of his salary that he would recover in the following seasons. And, finally, the loyalty bonuses that he has in his contract that add up to a total of 15.58 million euros.
Next seasons
The deferral of payments together with the loyalty bonuses means that in the next two seasons the global amount to be received by the player will rise a lot. If last season he received nine million fixed, the next one will directly charge double for this concept. In addition, he will receive a bonus of almost three million and would go in total to almost 21 million. The 23/24 is the one with the record because he will receive 27.7 million fixed and bonus . These figures could be increased with the variables.

What you said. I thought it would be done by now but I guess the levers are more calculated than I initially expected. I think it will be finalized this week with him joining the tour next week.

I’m looking forward to pre season games to distract from the nonsense that is muppet season

Yeah think it's best to accept this isn't getting done before we come back from tour

I just want it done. I feels it's inevitable to happen eventually, but I could do without the pathetic drama from Barcelona's end of the deal. The sooner it's over, the better.

I’m starting to think this move will probably happen. My concern is the reports that FDJ wants to stay at Barca. Do we honestly want a player whose heads still in Spain? Hopefully I’m wrong.

His interest is still to stay at Barca, provided that the salary does not go through such a paycut. Since Barca refuses to pay his original salary, he has no choice but to move out.

Most of you must understand that the club would not move for a player if the agent has already said the player is going to stay and he has agreed to a paycut. The club only went ahead after understanding that FDJ is not going to agree to a paycut and thus, needs to move out.

The problem right now is with Barcelona trying to make the add ons become easily achievable. However they are on the losing end as the longer they hold on to FDJ, the less time they have to register deals for players like Lewandowski. So its just a matter of time before he comes.

So you are confident this addons stuff gets sorted

For anyone that haven't seen it...
The other issue is that this is not a one off, other Barcelona players have done the same. They just cannot afford to keep all these players.

It sounds like FDJ and Barcelona are going to have to negotiate some sort of payment for him to leave. They owe him a tonne of money, and we’ll only pay some of that should he sign with us.

The real issue is how they treat their players. Disgraceful. Surely not that far away from a potential breach of contract on their side at times.

I would be incredibly ashamed and embarrassed as a Barca fan these days.

We aren’t paying any of Barca’s debt to De Jong? That’s between the two of them. They aren’t selling to avoid paying what they owe. They’re selling to avoid it sky rocketing any more.
There’s no way Barca pays any of this off, it’ll be many hundreds of millions for the entrie squad. I’ll bet any money players will have to sue to get Barca to pay up.

That mug Romero should shut his gob until he's got concrete info to report. "OMG a door just opened!!!"

De Jong is in the Netherlands and his agent was in Manchester this week. A flight from London is nothing of interest to this.
