Like who? Nunez? We were never going to make him more priority than midfield first due to his transfer fees was too big.Because we've been turned down by everyone else we've been linked to
Who else is going to come? Genuine question. PSG signed Vitinha, Liverpool is pretty much done , Bayern signed Gravenberch and City is after Philips. The only possibility is a Silva - FDJ swap which is probably a very rare scenario. Chelsea could come but they already have Jorginho and has other problems to fix first.Who knows. Pool signed Nunez within days of their interest being public. Just because there is no other club publically showing interest, doesnt mean there isn’t other clubs interested.
Also just because there isn’t any others interested today, doesn't mean there won’t be tomorrow. That is why it is dangerous to drag out deals publically
Because De Jong will feel it as an insensitive to join a club that’s struggling as much as we’ve been recently. UCL qualification would at least have given the opportunity to compensate.
Timber, Vitinha, likely Eriksen.Like who? Nunez? We were never going to make him more priority than midfield first due to his transfer fees was too big.
But thats not how you evaluate players. Barca doesn’t care if we buy no one after FDJ. They see 22 year old from Monaco who hasn’t done much going for 100m, they will obviously ask for something closer to that. Its upto us to decide what sort of fee we want to pay. But in general i dont think the price is atrocious
Timber, Vitinha, likely Eriksen.

Let me guess, we're going to chase him the whole summer, miss on pretty much all our other targets, then by Aug we'll pay close to 90m and sign him, then treat this window as a huge success because we signed him, right ?
Timber isn't a midfielder, I never said he was? But these are targets outlined by our new manager and we're not delivering them, it's fast becoming a poor summer for us.Timber is not midfielder, Fabrizio confirms we never interested in Vitinha, while Eriksen hasn't reject us.

Shrager has a solid history in breaking news for United transfers etc, I tend to believe him over Romano.
Do you mind to post of the news that Timber rejects/rejected us?
Jamie Jackson.
Why the feck were we even trying to sign a player we couldn’t guarantee first team football to? We’re not at the stage where we can afford to use our budget on squad players.
Let me know if you want more, the news has been coming out since Wednesday, yet you didn't know. But youre quick enough to tell me Timber isn't a midfielder, as a way to back up your point that we're not delivering targets the manager wants.
We've only just said this past week we're prioritising midfield, whilst we were talking with Timber weeks/a month ago. It's easy to say we're prioritising midfield when players are rejecting us.So how any of those tweets counter my point that we are prioritising in signing midfielder first before other positions? what makes you think we will proceed to talk and negotiate to Ajax before proceed to talk and negotiate to Barcelona for FDJ then?
It seems you are moving the goalpost or forgetting why I posted Romero tweet about FDJ being ten Hag's first signing and why I mentioned Timber isn't a midfielder

Well we're obviously not going to proceed in talks with Ajax, the player has rejected us. But the links to Timber started a matter of days after ten Hag was announced, even possibly the same day, de Jong has been spoken about the past few weeks.
And then maybe “A close friend has told us....”The next step is him “saying his goodbyes” I believe.
This is complete spin.Barcelona if they don't want to sell him won't. With these economic agreements they do not need it. Another thing is that if Barcelona does not see him essential they prefer to sell it.

By all accounts he would’ve cost around 35 million. Allocating over a quarter of our budget to replace our fourth choice centre back would’ve been the height of incompetence.Replaces Bailly and his age profile would have surely suggested he wouldn’t be first team. However clearly a ETH choice. We can get him next year after Maguire falls on his face.
On the last part yes but Liverpool were not linked by any UK sourcesHe was still linked publicly to Liverpool since May and also lot of resources at that time also publicly mentioned he prefers CL football rather than Newcastle and us.
Why being the UK sources is matter for this discussion? On the last part yes but Liverpool were not linked by any UK sources

Maybe because sources out of Portugal are known bullshiters? Why being the UK sources is matter for this discussion?

Ok so it has no matter/relevance to the fact the player was linked publicly.Maybe because sources out of Portugal are known bullshiters?
of course we can afford the fee but we’ve seen this movie before: United tries to be too clever with negotiations and then acts surprised when the selling club doesn’t lower the fee (see Sancho). We can afford A and B and us having a chance to sign him despite our shite position/past few years clearly means he is open to joining us due to Ten Hag, so C is not a thing either.
He is a world class talent who can be among the best midfielders in the world. Is a really unique player for a role we need, one who excelled and made his name under Ten Hag already, and one who would really accelerate our progress under Ten Hag by being the best possible signing we could make for a role we are desperate for.
Then you have to consider the market. Darwin just went for 100m. Tchouameni went for 100. Guys like Kalvin Phillips/Tielemans/Ruben Neves are 50m. None of those 3 are fit to lace De Jongs boots. So the cost for him is pretty reasonable all things considered.
35m is a decent chunk and it’s not the sort of money you spend on squad players when you need another keeper, right back, two starting midfielders and at least another forward. The first XI should be the priority.I fail to see how it would be incompetence. £35m is not a huge amount and he can also play RB. Given we only have three serviceable CBs who have all had injury problems last year we will definitely need a CB this Summer.

But he wouldn’t be our starting full back as the reports say he turned us down over a lack of first team football. So he’d be a squad player. That's why I said he also plays RB.

Guaranteed first team football isn't the same as first team football. Getting a cb thats guaranteed to start over Varane and Lindelof for instance isn't that likely. They'll compete with them and might get pushed out to full back, or just get dropped for a while if they dont instantly take to the league. But he wouldn’t be our starting full back as the reports say he turned us down over a lack of first team football. So he’d be a squad player.

Timber feels he has more guarantee to get more minutes at Ajax (assume if he plays poor or get injured will need to wait for his chance) than at United (likely to be dropped if he plays poor or won't get straight to the first XI after recovers from injuries) before the World Cup. Doesn't mean he would be squad player.
End of the day, I don't think we will prioritise to sign a CB before de Jong or midfield after losing Matic and Pogba, while we haven't get rid Bailly, Tuanzebe and etc.
