Or we just have differing opinions. With one based on the objective outcomes and another based on hoping the club were being sensible. Even with the objective outcomes of previous windows.

But I guess someone having a different opinion that you means they do not think…

The outcomes of previous windows is that we have signed players that weren't our first options which implies that we have more than one option and work on more than one target. Your opinion suggests that when we sign players it's based on a single attempt which is dubious and I don't think that you believe that.

No opinion is based on the outcome of THAT summer where we did not adequately improve the squad that needed improving. Where we did not have an alternative forward option past an old injury prone striker on a free. Which shows THAT summer we did not plan accordingly for not signing Sancho. Like we didn't for Thiago, like we didn't for Fabregas

Is it possible that the club failed to conclude deals? The question you asked me can't be based on outcome, it can only be based on actions regardless of outcomes. Remember you asked me whether I think that we wasted our summer on Sancho, you didn't ask me whether our summer was successful.

why arent City in for him, if there's talk of Phillips then surely Frenk is a better option?

Although I question the same thing, the reasons I can think of are:

1. Phillips will be more open to the idea of being backup to Rodri
2. 1/2 the wage of De Jong.
3. English quota

No we should hold on to deadwood instead and either lose them for free or give them new contracts to preserve their value
No, our transfer strategy is generally shambolic. From ridiculous contracts to letting players rot on the bench until they lose their entire value rather than moving them on quickly while recouping a decent part of money we paid (Lukaku and Di Maria the only exceptions pretty much), it's a complete mess. However caving in to all the demands of the seller and basically paying the asking price without any negotiations will get us nowhere too, as proven by the last decade. We paid some ridiculous amount of money for a complete dross. People losing their shite in mid of June is hilarious. If FDJ really wants to come here and Barca are looking to sell, the deal will get done. People need to chill a bit.

Is it possible they the club failed to conclude deals because they spent too much time on Sancho? Meanwhile players we were looking at already signed elsewhere

It's possible but I have no reason or ways to believe that. In order to know that you would have to know what actions were conducted and neither of us have a clue.

Because City have better players i would have thought.

FDJ will be a disaster in the prem far too lightweight

Or what was briefed at the time.
Club is not worried that it missed out on x player because Sancho is the priotiy and the club are confident of concluding a deal happened all summer. We have already seen the first this summer with Nunez where as this time I believe passing on Nunez for that fee is right. With small briefs from the club just before Liverpool announced the deal that midfield is the priority over forward

That’s £72.9m. I would have been fine if we had got him for that amount early in the window. Now after all this time and so called game of who blinks first we better get this price down.

We're a week into the transfer window.

They'll fold on the asking price eventually, we just have to be patient

I'll say it again Frenkie De Jong is not wanted by Barca, it has nothing to do with Finances.

Proven premier league just like Schneiderlin, Fellaini, Awb and Maguire right?

Sorry should have made it clear that I was being sarcastic. I do not rate either player and would be disappointed if these are our other options.

If we're the only team interested it makes sense as to why we're taking our time with it. Barcelona will eventually cave, if we can get a deal for around 60m pounds would be good.

By the look of it, he is a goner. The question is where is he going?

This is true, cules want him to stay but Xavi has another plan and that is Bernardo with Kounde most wanted in defense. There is no rush for a sale of the Dutchman and he is more than happy to stay so I think full fee or he stays depending if Barca can discuss with the City and Sevilla.

But is that too much in modern football when you consider the cost of Nunez, Tchouameni?
It’s a different situation though. Nunez and Tchouameni went to teams who don’t need to do much business. We can’t be spending 70 odd million on a single footballer when our total budget is 120 million and we have a tonne of other holes in the team.

I disagree, you won't be able to sign anyone without De Jong leaving.

But do we need to fix all our weaknesses in one summer? That's not common for clubs.
