It doesn't matter if they need to sell or not. They will, because they do not see him as being worth his wages. He is expendable and not that important to their system.
I would have been optimistic but this is the same club that waited the entire summer of 2020 hoping Dortmund would lower the price for Sancho because of Covid.
A year later yes. That summer United panic signed Cavani and wasted money on Amad and Pellstri. Or in other words did not have a proper plan outside of Sancho so they wasted the summerAnd they reduced the fee drastically.
Seems like we succeeded in doing that, so what's your point?I would have been optimistic but this is the same club that waited the entire summer of 2020 hoping Dortmund would lower the price for Sancho because of Covid.
No one's paying £68 million? I think that's a very reasonable price, utd should respect the valuation and put the offer on the table so they can move on to the next target. No one is paying that you numpties.
I understand the budget but we should do this deal last.
No the price naturally lowered with reduced term on his contract by a year.Seems like we succeeded in doing that, so what's your point?

Yes imo Cavani was a last minute panic signing to appease fans that didn't work for obvious reasonsPanicked signed?
Its only Busquets who they are prioritising over him. Question is though who replaces him when he eventually retires. We shouldn't be breaking the bank for him in these troubled times. I'm not even convinced he's the perfect fit for our midfield. There is a reason Barca would rather prioritise young Gavi, Pedri and a 34 year old Busquets over him.
The manager seems to think he would and would like to build it around him so I'll take his word for itWe shouldn't be breaking the bank for him in these troubled times. So? We didn't think he was worth the ridiculous asking price they put (wasn't it like €120m?), so what's wrong with not agreeing to pay that and wait a year or so?No the price naturally lowered with reduced term on his contract by a year.
It's all 3 because De Jong is expected to play higher up the pitch, no? And yes, even with question marks over Busquet's replacement, Barca are happy to see him leave. He isn't worth breaking the bank for. The last time we did that we got Harry Maguire for 80M.Its only Busquets who they are prioritising over him. Question is though who replaces him when he eventually retires.
But if we lower that to about 50-55 then we could sign another, like a Rabiot. So 68.5 million pounds? Get it done FFS.
“Wasted” money on Amad/Pellistri.A year later yes. That summer United panic signed Cavani and wasted money on Amad and Pellstri. Or in other words did not have a proper plan outside of Sancho so they wasted the summer
shocking amounts as well“Wasted” money on Amad/Pellistri.
The kind of posts I see every year that would have had us pay £60m for Varane, £110m for Sancho and £30m for Telles. No one's paying £68 million? I think that's a very reasonable price, utd should respect the valuation and put the offer on the table so they can move on to the next target.
Yep. They're both shite.“Wasted” money on Amad/Pellistri.
The reason is because Frenkie isn't a typical Barca player. He likes moving with the ball and roaming around. That role is typically done by the most advanced of the 3 for Barca, which isn't what Frenkie de Jong is a natural at. Even still, he's been among their best players every season, but they've been a bit of a disaster so it's hard to perform at your best in that anyway (as we know too well). He's best playing deep and having license to move forward (like Scholes liked to do). Barca with Busquets have a stable pivot who doesn't move. Pedri is a generational talent as the #8. So you're left with putting Frenkie as the most advanced ... And it's just not how you get the best out of him.We shouldn't be breaking the bank for him in these troubled times. I'm not even convinced he's the perfect fit for our midfield. There is a reason Barca would rather prioritise young Gavi, Pedri and a 34 year old Busquets over him.

Nothing. The thing we did wrong was to waste the whole summer chasing the deal when the deadline set had already passed whilst neglecting the other holes in the squad we needed to fixSo? If Ten Hag thinks he is then he is worth itIt's all 3 because De Jong is expected to play higher up the pitch, no? Yes wasted since we needed a RW and still do yet we used budget on projects who most likely wont play for the first team as regulars ever“Wasted” money on Amad/Pellistri.
Ten Hag isn’t God ffs.If Ten Hag thinks he is then he is worth it
I was arguing that paying £20 million for Telles with a year left on his contract was bad value for money at the time, understanding a fair price for a player is key and £68 million for FDJ is great value given how important he would be for the team and Ten Hag's system. If Barca wasn't in the situation they're in they'd probably be asking for £80 million plus for him. It's a fair valuation and I can't see them going lower, maybe a few million tops. To satisfy the manager and fanbase, and have the freedom to move on to other targets just pay up, £68 million is spot on for a player of his calibre. The kind of posts I see every year that would have had us pay £60m for Varane, £110m for Sancho and £30m for Telles.
He is the manager who has already implemented the system and already worked with the player. He knows more than anyone if he is worth is or notTen Hag isn’t God ffs.
He is our manager though, going after a world class talent who has performed at a top level for him before, in a position and role of need for us. So I'd say it's a pretty big deal targetting him.Ten Hag isn’t God ffs.
