Thats the end of the saga.

It’ll take a while for these deals to materialise and reports did say they needed 100m on top of these 400m deals this summe.

Eddit selling off half of their merchandising rights is a death nail for them being a top club anymore. Holy shit

I think it's clear now that we won't be signing all those players. We can't afford them all anyway.
Granted, I don't think we'll necessarily sign every player who we're targeting, but what is this exactly based on? It's not like we have no money and are entirely dependent on our sales.

Well if we're allowed to believe reports they quite a few have stated we've £120m available. So I don't think we'll get all those players within our budget.

Sold their soul to the devil. I'm no expert but this is a bad long term sell of a cashcow for a short term return.

Sold their souls to American investment banks. Sounds familiar, unfortunately. I am sure the money for transfers will flow for them, as it has for us. The entertainment product must be kept up to a standard. Just other investments will lag and lack

Its pretty clear that the club is working with a tight budget relative to other years and that the stream of new players we were expecting will not happen. So, another difficult season ahead should be the expectation.

Right, which is why this Frenkie deal will affect the rest of our strategy. If we no longer pursue him, then we'll have more room for our other potential signings.

Think I'm right in saying that due to FFP (which apparently is more stringently regulated in Spain), that cash injection from the 49% doesn't give them funds they can use to bring in players, whereas a fee for FDJ would be funds they can use on transfers.

Might be wrong.

This is my understanding too

Correct and the funds from these deals won’t be realised until the future. They will take a couple of months to realise so they will have to sell to buy.

Strange their fan base feels “saved” my understanding is these are terrible deals in the long term.

The amount that they're supposedly getting is so much less than what you'd expect half of the value of the club to be. Seems like a catastrophic deal to me.

Approved the partial commercialization of the two economic 'levers' that were submitted to a vote in Barça: up to 25% of the TV rights and 49.9% of BLM. The forecast is that an amount between 700 and 800 million can be entered.

So, Barca look to be bringing in 700/800 million Euros. They may not need to sell FdJ

There will be a clause to buy back the rights. And according to the economic vice president with a strategic partner, revenues will grow more than if they work them alone.

Barcelona will also sell 25% of the laliga TV rights, that's 41M of the 175M the club receives, for a maximum of 25 years.
That 5% of the annual budget.

The amount that Barcelona will receive for the 2 operations will be at least €600M

They will need some more creative accounting to get away with that surely. They are selling 25% of TV rights and 49.9% of merchandise. These are from future revenues, unless they’ve persuaded the buyers to put up cash immediately. Either way they are hamstrung for the foreseeable future. Also still need to get payroll down and they are due to start paying FDJ 19m Euros a year from next month. I still think they will need to offload him.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, so they have sold at least €1bn of TV rights on top of god knows how much in merchandising for approx €600m?

Jesus they are desperate.

This is needed for Barca to actually avoid defaulting on the loans that are due. To register new players they need to generate funds from transfer. This deal changes nothing for FDJ transfer. Just like the CVC deal. But expect a lot of propaganda on how it changes the economic fortunes of the club. They have basically forfeited their future revenue for immediate loan, which they couldn’t secure earlier due to their huge debt risk

well if you want the money now and not in 25 years, you have to make a compromise. And yes, the choice is bad but to do nothing would be even worse. To sell 5% of the clubs income for 25y in order to stay competitive at the top lvl doesn't sound too bad if the other option was keeping 100 % and playing regulary vs. frankfurt in the el.
95% income as a topteam is more than 100% of a mediocre team.

For the TV rights the buyers put up the cash now and collect the TV revenues later. That allows them to put that on their balance sheet for this year, meaning the wage cap for the next season will increase. Saying that they will still need to reduce overall salary to make room for new signings

I think it’s the beginning of the end for the idea of fan ownership as far as Barca goes at least. Unless they get a dodgy handout off course

Haven’t they got several new players already lined up like Christienen and Kessie, while giving out new bumper contracts to their wonder kids Pedri and Gavi - as well as trying to sign Lewandowski and god knows who else - all while trying to ditch Pique and FDJ as high earners?

Im not being funny but we should be able to strike a bargain deal here as we have enough accountants in our club to fully understand their financial situation and the predicament of it.

Only 830 delegates were present out of 4478, for such an important decision that surely is strange.

This deal is done. Guaranteed. He was reticent to leave when Barca were desperate for stability financially. Now they've got 700-800 as a guarantee, there's no reason for them to pressure FDJ to leave and let's face it, even less motivation for him to push for it. The whole deal with FDJ's public comments speak to someone who was probably waiting for the result of tonight's Barca meeting before determining where to go. We have our answer now.

Mortgaging the future of the club to cover up the sins of mismanagement of the past has no potential at all to go horribly wrong.

Yeah, it's madness. Short-termism still at play. They should bite the bullet and take the short-term hit and start afresh with younger players and their own youngsters, push out everyone earning top players' wages. They had that chance with Messi (100m to City).

Surely if they really want to retain the idea of what kind of club they are (which they're not really) they correct their mistakes, instead of compounding them.

That is on a premise that we are selling De Jong purely for finances which has never been the case, it is more of an excuse to quell a bad reaction with cules.

Xavi doesn't rate Frenkie for the role he wants him to play (don't believe everything he tells in media) and has been critical even hooking him as a sub first. Frenkie himself wants to stay but he is a professional in the circumstance. He will have to face a wage deduction probably, this is far from over if he wants to stay still.

I think Xavi sees Bernardo as a player to replace him although that signature is very tough with an oil club.

Gavi, Araujo, Mingueza, Fati, Puig, all from Barca B.
Pedri they bought at 16, loaned him back for one season to Las Palmas, and was a first team player at 17.

Clearly they're doing just that.
