Yeah huge setback for Erik despite Casemiro signing, looks like our final 8 days of window will be Antony probably Gakpo and RB (if AWB goes). Be great if we could somehow get one in for Sat.

We won't sign a new midfielder. When we moved on from Rabiot, the brief was club wanted one Elite midfielder. And that's pretty much it imo with Casemiro coming in

The signing of Casemiro somewhat softens the blow of not getting this one over the line but, big questions need to be asked as to why we've spent the entire summer chasing this guy without success.
Unpopular opinion but we should have moved on to other targets weeks ago, any one of Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes, Youri Tielemens or Sergej Milinković-Savić would have fitted in to a midfield alongside Casemrio and Bruno/Eriksen really well.

Yeah waste of time. At least we got Casemiro. Could have done with a better ball carrier but now we can field Brazil's starting CM so I'm ok with that Fred was fine last season
Looks like Murtough finally got the hint after his latest bout of joyriding across Europe. It only took him 3 months. Casemiro has absolutely nothing in common with De Jong. We are once again left without a single competent CM that can progress the ball.
If Murtough was smart he'd go hard for Fabian Ruiz. The deal with PSG is not through and we can probably get him for €30M - €40M. Not going to happen though because I doubt our illustrious DoF even knows about Ruiz's existence. Perhaps I should clue him in via email. Free of charge.

I still think things could change. The only thing that won’t change is Barca wanting to sell (or reduce his wage).
