We won tonight with a superb display of aggression and energy but maybe lacked a bit of control in possession at times (we were pretty much perfect out of it). I don't know enough about the player but if he could bring enough energy to match what was on display tonight AND still dictate games, which is what we're missing, then he'd be a great signing.

I can only see Bayern being the option if he says no United or Chelsea. Doubt Barca want to loan him after Coutinho and now Griezmann but at least it gets his wages off the books for a year.

My point was Schneiderlin was not just a midfield destroyer. He was probably more similar to Neves when he was playing for Southampton. Both him and Tielemans are slightly overrated because they played and are playing for a smaller club where their performances are not really scrutinized. Tielemans also gets overrated imo because he was a beast in previous versions of Football Manager, but I digress.
If we get Tielemans, I'm leaning on him being closer to Schneiderlin than Carrick in terms of impact.

Unless we're suddenly satisfied with McTominay and Fred, we desperately need a player of de Jong's quality. Whether it shall come to pass is an open question.
We beat the better side today but it had a strong whiff of smash and grab to it. This was not ETH football. To get to where ETH wants us to be we need better midfield play than McTominay and Fred could ever give us. Casemiro will help, but he's the final piece of the midfield puzzle.
Yeah no doubt the other two are easier deals but Erik desperately wants De Jong, however looks like a step too far now
