We'll have signed him well before then I reckon. I've never fully lost faith in this one.
I dont think thats happening unfortunately . We already spent big on Casemiro and are now reported to drop 100m on Anthony. FDj and Casemiro wouldve been amazing though

I do wonder whether weve received some kind of encouragement this time or are we just going in blind. I do feel we will see something happen this week, it was always speculated that it'll go to the end of the window

There has to be encouragement, there's just to much in this for it to be another gamble on the off chance he might sign.

Ive just got funny feeling that this could be the window of all windows, full muppetry from the board, open cheque book to boot, what could go wrong

If reports are true and our team have travelled to Barca for a meeting, I doubt very much it will be blind. Why waste the time and air fare? If they've gone again, it will be because something has changed and we're involved. You don't just turn up at a club somewhere, out of the blue to offer to buy their players.

is there still anything in this - as in any recent positive report - or is the thread running on fumes and hopes?

Airfare is like $30 with Ryanair.

Odds have narrowed again after Murtough madness was a revealed! 1-2 Barcelona and 6-4 United!

Surely we can’t pull off Casemiro, Frenkie and Antony

“And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you (I want you)
I need you (I need you)
There ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad (don't be sad 'cause)
'Cause two out of three ain't bad
Now don't be sad ('cause)

When you need to buy Frenkie urgently and Ryanair is running another £9.99 promotion

Cannot see this happening.

...BUT imagine if it did and in one window we upgraded from McFred to Casemiro, de Jong and Eriksen.

We played Rabiot, used the media in our favour for once, while actively pushing for Casemiro(signed him). Now who are we playing to speed things up here or are we going full muppet with De Jong, Antony and Gkpo?

Hey I would take FDJ in a heartbeat. A CM of.....

---Casemiro-FDJ-------
-----------Bruno-------------

with Eriksen, Fred, DvB, McT and Garner as subs. That would be an engine room.

Do I think this will happen this window... sadly doubtful :(.

No, Liverpool have shown they are a miles better team longer term. Them going three games without a win is a blip. For us it is representative of our current standard: our results have been woeful, but it is the underlying performances alongside them that is truly worrying. We are getting what we deserve largely and have been for six months.

People can scoff, but a lot of the analytical models have us well below 10% for CL qualification and less likely than teams such as Newcastle, Palace and Brighton. Currently we are as likely to be relegated as finish top four: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/

The signings may change all this but no guarantee.

I don't play for United, so my mentality has no factor on our outcomes. I can support my team, vocally from the stands, but still take a step back and more soberly assess our prospects and performances. My wanting us to be champions again doesn't make it more likely to happen.

From where we currently are, I think ETH does well to keep his job this season and get us any sort of European football next season. There's real deep-rooted issues in our playing squad and we are in a worse place than Arsenal were after three games last season. They weren't coming off the back of our second half of the previous season too. There's a lot of evidence to suggest we are quit shit sadly.

Yeah I'm under no illusion you have any impact on our outcomes but this is a completely wet mentality mate, sorry.

Did you ever say or agree that Ten Hag will need time? What do people think that means? One pre season? 2 games of a season? Maybe 5? Did you think we were two players off being a great team again? I can't think of many, if any managers who just come in, immediately change things round and dominate from that point on. Klopp, Fergie, Pep all had various degrees of rough starts. Arsenal are currently media darlings and their fans wanted Arteta sacked until about a week ago.

The hysterical reaction is pathetic, honestly. There's more evidence to suggest that the club will stick with and back Ten Hag than they will just sack him. In 18 months time, this terrible start may be a blessing in disguise.

I disagree that we're in a worse place than an Arsneoa team with back to back 8th placed finishes and 3 losses from 3 in their opening games and they have to do much more than have 3 good games to convince me they are anywhere close to regularly challenge for top 4. If they keep this up until Jan/Feb then I'll start to take notice.

Last summer there were plenty of genuine debates about whether United were title contenders. Fresh off battering Newcastle, with Ronaldo getting 2 on his second debut.
I change quickly and fans have always been incredibly fickle. It's why I try to form my opinions over the course of at least a few months. For me, Ten Hag is still in the 'free hit' period and to be honest, will be for the whole season, unless things go really, really sour. I said in the summer that it would get worse before getting better, nothing I've seen suggests I'm wrong but I also don't see why we can't be optimistic that it will get better.

Not prepared? Are we fighting illidan? (guess not many on the Caf will get this one) :wenger:
I abstained from commenting cuz I thought that no one would understand the reference. It does feel like Frenkie is imprisoned for 10 thousand years and banished from his own "homeland" (Barcelona).
