Guessing £400,000 a week roughly, he'd want more than Sancho I'm guessing because of his age, and if this is actually reliable then you need to vomit in your mouth a little when you see Ronaldo, Martial and De Geas wages

If he's currently on €560k a week at Barcelona (the equivalent of £473k a week) why would he take a paycut to join United? Who aren't even in the CL?

If Barca don't end up selling him, I'm certain he'll end up playing. They played the same game with Dembele in January and the man played almost every game after that. Ultimately, he's a top player that Xavi really likes and there's no way he sits on the bench if he doesn't get a move.

Yeah, especially since Busquets aint getting any younger

I imagine that it'll be in the form of up-front payments to cover the difference, be it from Barca or United.

He won't be on 560k p/w if he stays at Barca in a normal, starting capacity. He'll be forced to renegotiate to <10M a year (<200k p/w). I assume United will offer him something similar to what we've offered Pogba (300-320k p/w --- all in EUR).

Of course he can pull a Garreth Bale and play Golf but I don't think he will. All he cares about are his deferred wages and once that's resolved, he'll go play football elsewhere.

Playing? Central defence, on the bench or side lined by Barca. Favourite might be a little bit sour
Define playing... he's apparently been told there's no place for him within the team, so unless he likes playing way out of his favourite position, or watching from the sidelines, then his best option is to leave.

They’re paying him 400k+ a week and he’s still one of their better players. If he won’t leave he will be playing.

Even if Spotrac's base salaries are entirely correct (which I doubt, they've had some bizarre numbers on there, and according to their numbers City have a lower wage bill than both us, Liverpool, Chelsea), they don't include all the numerous bonuses and clauses all of those contracts have (like the -25% salary of our players if they don't get CL, which is not reflected here).

Has he? Neither Laporta, nor Xavi have said that

The state of those wages.

With wages like that, you'd expect this team to be challenging for the title.

Hi current salary includes deferred payments, which have started to be included this year already.

If he got the 17m sorted he would be able to go back to a "sensible" level..

We would probably pay him in the region of £350k a week I would guess

Those buggers want united to pay the money they owe Frenkie innit? That's the fecking hold up I guess.
Jacobs and several others have reported both teams, Chelsea and United, are willing to pay all or most of those fees.

We have worked out what all the financials “would” be.

Apparently when Boehly called him the last time what made him take the stance Chelsea is in is that FDJ was adamant hes not leaving Barcelona. There was no “I’m not going here” . It was more “I’m politely telling you there’s no point selling me on Chelsea, because I’m not leaving.”

He genuinely seems to think he does not have to leave. Until that changes you could offer triple the back wages, it does not seem to matter.

Has he? Neither Laporta, nor Xavi have said that
I'm sure i read something on here yesterday, a tweet was posted, not sure if it was from Romero or someone else. Again it's if you choose to believe them all. Personally i don't as i don't think anyone knows whats going on

Great question, I can't find true reliable figures on his earnings but the figures range but I see the numbers you referenced out there too €116m left on his contract

Guessing because he will have to drop his wages at Barca or they'll try and force him out/make him leave at some point and nobody will ever offer him those wages ever again.

Hes under contract for 4 years and the fact he's on Messi and Ronaldo money is just insane how badly Barca fecked up.

Why would he take a pay cut? I think he'd be hated in Barcelona by fans since they can't register players. He's owed the €17m for sure what he chooses to do for the other 4 years is up to him.

Personally if I were in his shoes I'd sit on the bench and see out my contract, not my fault my employer gave me that contract.

...and not Ronaldo?

Ronaldo has some credit in the bank - he has won us a few matches, contributed to a few titles, a CL etc, and earned us a tidy profit back when he left for Madrid.

It's the other players that haven't contributed zilch for the success of the club and still are making out like bandits.

Then again, Romero did say today was going to be a big, long day, so be ready... not much happened upto now that i know of?

Is Di Matteo is better than Heynckes?

You are being intentionally obtuse if you are pretending that you don't see the point that inferior coaches occasionally have good records against better coaches.

Okay it's a bet. How much?
Yes but one is a CL final, they beat City, Real, Porto and Atlético in knock outs and we basically got out of our group. I get head to heads can be deceptive but it’s also a bit unfair to compare two managers who are some of the longest serving in the PL with a manager going into his 2nd full season and whose owner basically had to jettison the club due to a war. If you’d have said win the PL I wouldn’t have taken the bet but finishing above either Pep or Klopp is too good a deal.

Winner gets to choose tagline for the loser.

The only shocking part is that he's club captain and was signed on £80m
Even if that shocks you, the club will have hardly expected such mediocre performances, so offering him that contract is perfectly in line with what you'd expect given the circumstances

I see - so the deferred payment is not one lump sum but amortized over the schedule of the remaining term?

Shouldn't be paying anyone over £350k to anyone, happy to move on DDG & CR7 if those wages are true, just not worth it.. Club's been mis-managed for far too long.

I'm not sure there are reliable sources to confirm his wages, if you're going to use sources that quote wages it's only right to suggest he may not have a place in the barca team, or he'll be played out of position etc

PS - I want to vomit when I see Sancho's, Varane's, Martial's, Rashford's and Maguire's wages.

The only ones that piss me of are Maguire, Shaw and Jones.

Ronaldo's is obscene too and if we didn't have dickhead owners, then him moving away could free up wages for new players.

I actually like that we've got rid of a lot of players I disliked over the past 3 years. Now we need to continue adding good players like Eriksen and Martinez or players with solid potential like Malacia.

We simply have to keep spending on first team players to replace players like Fred, McTominay and Martial.

His wages will be astronomical because this is the year his referral comes in. I said 400k others have quoted more, either way it’s a massive wage.

They're saying this because they want to sell him but if he won’t leave they’ll be insane not to play him he’s not done anything and his attitude is that he wants to do well for Barce. The window shuts and FdJ is still at Barce he will play every game.

Which isn't true, they've already played him a centre back.

Before they spent 50m or whatever it was on Kounde. They have Kounde, Christiensen, Aruajo and still Pique he’s not gonna play CB.

It was 45 minutes in a friendly game I wouldn’t look much into that

Yup, waiting on a club to pay a player isn't chasing them. Barca made their intentions clear, they want him gone, effectively transfer listing him. United bidded as they wanted him. It's upto the player and the club to sort the wage issues out and come to an exit agreement. If at the end of the day he doesn't want to go, then so be it, thats his choice. He has a contract, Barca have to honour it
It’s very simple and exactly as you have put it.

Ahead of who? Busquets, gavi, Pedri are first choice with Kessie probably ahead too. CB is also stacked now.

As a cule, take it from me; If he stays and somehow, we manage to register all of the new signings, he will still be a starter in midfield next to Busquets and Pedri - he will face some competition from Kessie/Gavi but Frenkie would back himself. Any talk to him being perma benched/put in the stands is nonsense, see Dembele's situation last season, he was also booed by fans but he played a major role in our season in the end and it's water under the bridge.

Interestingly, despite the media reports, accusations of bullying, the drama etc etc, Laporta and Xavi have never officially said they want him to leave or that he has no place in the team. It's always been "We want him to stay, we like the player but he needs to take a wage cut" this is a lifeline given by the club to a player who clearly has no desire to leave. I think his agent is the one trying to get other clubs involved but any time it reaches the player, as seen with Chelsea, it's "thanks but no thanks".

I think he genuinely believes this will all blow over.. which is maddening. It's proper head in the sand shit. We haven't even heard rumors of him searching for a house, it's complete silence as if he'll rock up at training oblivious to what's happening.
